Thanks for the reply Joey. Usually, it only hurts at the end of any moderately heavy RDL or DL and it’s a strong, dull pain in my lower left back that goes away in a few seconds. I’ve always assumed it was just part of lifting. But sometimes, when I’m going heavy, I feel a tendon or something slipping around in my glute area at the top of the lift and I know I’m f*@&ed for a week or two. I’ve seen a physio about it but the exercises haven’t helped over the 6 months I’ve been doing them. I’ve worked with several coaches on it over the years up I’ll definitely submit a video to the forum if that’s something that we’re allowed to do. Do you think it’s worth getting an MRI? Thanks mate!
Does the back start hurting beforehand, like just a nuisance type of thing? Or notice anything else?
Ever had physio to assess what actually is strained? What you may think is a strained muscle is a bulged disc, and needs to be addressed differently.
Just from my background, have you had your form critiqued by peers of this community or others? You may feel it’s right, but could have a very loose/weak lower back, which will cause a strain eventually.
Just some things coming from a 35 year old with a fused lower back who wish he had these questions asked.

Thanks so much Clare. This is really enlightening. Kwan Loong oil, wrist wraps and supps ordered! However, I want with Animal’s joint formula as shipping from the UK to USA for the JP products was just a little out of reach financially for me. If you have an state side brands you’re allowed to recommend, I’m all ears! Thanks again for your help here

I’m not sure about a good joint formula, but you can get hold of a Curcumin supplement separately.. Look for BCM-95 Curcumin. Amazon will sell that._________________________________________

You honestly can’t plan these things. You may have a baby that sleeps well through the night, but on the other hand you may be woken several times. I think it’s case of playing it by ear. Continue to train as you are and assess recovery as you go. You may need to drop some volume or take more rest days. I wouldn’t be focussing on any kind of cut during this stage, so stay at maintenance or a slight surplus to aid recovery and keep your diet nutrient dense. Take naps when you can during the day if necessary or possible. Stay hydrated and consider taking the supplement Halcyon if needed, which can help during stressful times.
Put things into perspective too. This is an incredible period of your life, so enjoy it and don’t put any pressure on yourself regarding your training. You’ll figure out a way ?_________________________________________
