Hi Zoe, I use to struggle with this a lot. Everything Ben has mentioned, also check out Bret Contreras (google him) he has loads of articles about glutes, activation,imbalances etc. For me personally what works is releasing my glutes pre-workout, I take a rubber ball thats the size of a tennis ball and stand up against the wall and put the ball in between my glutes and the wall and just roll, a lot of the time if you train your glutes often you can just have knots in your glutes that prevent circulation and that muscle mind connection. I also suggest purchasing Mark Bell’s Hip Circle, it beats every band that exists. Hope this helps!
