When was the last time you had a deload/complete few days rest off training?

Curious to what everyone has for standard deloads. Do you program them into your splits or take them as needed? I have been thinking about programming a deload every 7th week, with either a full week off or a week in which I just do some light band work. Usually, I go balls to the wall, feel great one week, and then have a major crash, so taking them as needed just never seemed to work for me. Curious to what you guys do.

    ———–
I never programme deloads. I use my feedback and log book to determine when I need a break. I also don’t deload, I’ll have a few days complete rest.

It might not be as simple as just stop taking the pill and everything will be smooth running from then on. It will have a lot to do with what pill she’s been on and how long she’s been taking it. I know it can sometimes take months/years for hormones to settle and get back into a regular cycle again after being on.
I agree that bodybuilding and prep will be more productive without, but just be aware that she may want to take a period of time off before she begins a prep.

I would cover bases with basic health supps like Multi vits and mins, Omega 3, CURE-COMING and possibly vit D3. HALCYON may also be beneficial as your body goes under a lot more stress during a prep. There are obviously a lot more you can take, but these would be staples imo.

If you’re trying to lose bodyfat, cut calories and/or add cardio to put yourself in a deficit. You don’t want to be eating back the calories you’ve used during your cardio. If you find you’re dropping weight too quickly, just cut back on the cardio.

@clare  can totally relate to this. It’s SO annoying! Yay to being healthy and what not but I just hate the week leading up to my TOM. Bloating, scale weight up, strength slightly decreased.

But usually I feel great once it comes and strength is usually higher on my TOM. Very tmi. Oh well.

Hope it comes and goes quickly ????

We all have the odd bad workout which could be down to numerous factors. It doesn’t necessarily mean that we need a deload though. If you’re experiencing consecutive bad workouts, progress is stalling or regressing and you’re generally feeling beat up and fatigued, then this would be the time to implement a few days rest before going again.

Few nights of disrupted sleep, scale weight up, don’t want to talk to people and missed by top set of Hacks yesterday.. Should have put 2 and 2 together! So yeah my monthly cycle is paying a visit today. Nice to know I’m healthy and functioning well, but damn it’s annoying! Any other female on here notice that there strength and focus takes a dip the week before? I fight it as much as I can and refuse to let it beat me, but the hormones still seem to rule! During prep when my cycle stops and hormones dive, everything is much more predictable, but during off season there’s that one week..Arghh! Anyway, far too much information, sorry gents 🙂

Rest day for me today, lots of clients to see and hoping for a decent Upper session tomorrow.

MPS Max with Sustain creates the perfect Intra drink. I like to add 5g Creatine Monohydrate to mine too.
Remember that the diet app just gives you a rough guideline of your macros, so you may need to adapt as you go.
Are you in a gaining or cutting phase? What is your goal?

    Gain.

Goal is to add as much lean mass as possible [/quote]

I don’t know what calories you have previously been hitting, but maybe begin with 30g MPS MAX and 50g SUSTAIN as a starting point. Monitor your progress, take pictures and keep data of your diet, then you can always add to this if needed.

It’s always difficult to find a general practitioner educated in this area as, like Stefan has said, it’s not a subject they learn during training. You need to find a doctor who is interested in bodybuilding who has educated themselves in this area.. which will be tough!
It depends what it is you’re wanting to find out, but some blood work companies offer a full breakdown of your results by a doctor associated with the company and may be able to offer some useful advice.
