I agree with the team , rich mostly and it’s to standardise your reps & tempo .. the key word here ‘standardise’ .

That is important if you are to track work , progress & quantify things across a given amount of time .

    This is soo important.

    Makes sense!

Just make sure to try and make the set as hard as possible on the muscle as you can. I prefer continuous and take that to failure. But if your lungs are failing before the muscle and you need to take a slight pause to breath and milk out s few more reps to take the muscle to failure then do so. Just don’t do pauses to make it easier on yourself. Own the pain!

Yeah I was just pondering whether I could handle a heavier weight for the same amount of reps if I did a discontinuous set. But I’m tracking with you. “Own the pain!” Love it 👍

    Standardise your rep tempo mate.

If you then choose to introduce a rest pause set, that’s accounted for and tracked.

Yeah I agree with Rich really…you want to be doing a continuous rep set, one rep id allow a second longer pause before going again but no more than that

You want to try and keep the tempo consistent throughout as much as possible, however inevitably those reps will begin to slow down as you reach failure. There’s nothing wrong with taking a brief pause to eek out those last few, but I wouldn’t rest excessively, otherwise you’ll end up doing more of a widow maker set.

Thanks, I watch a Tom Platz video where he was training a guy on squats and he kept making him to 5 more reps and it got me thinking 🤔 lol

Continuous as far as you can, then if you can do a pause to get a few extra reps to extend the set, increase the intensity

A quality whey protein is a fantastic bio-available protein source, so i don’t see an issue including it in a few meals. However, you’ll get other nutrients from meat and the process of chewing is beneficial to the digestion process, so I would look to include both in your diet.

    Thanks Clare!

Whey protein is the most bio available protein source you can have, who is saying it’s inferior ? 😅

Maybe if quality is super poor it is, good quality whey is going to trump meat sources to a degree.

Unless you drink whey on its own, any carb or fat source will slow down the digestion, same when you actually eat protein sources

Haha Rich Piana video I came across
Says it all, love rich but 😅😂please don’t listen to most of his bits or take them to heart…. It’s just great entertainment 🤣
Thanks for the reply my man!

Mike is a brilliant guy and so is JP, interpreting what he said as an attack is non-sense. He speaks the truth.

Lol he is a smart guy but he literal said if you try to train like JP “goodbye bicep, goodbye pec, goodbye quad. Obviously you need to have a balance of training with intensity and intent

i saw that too and found it very ignorant, trainibg like jp can be extremely effective and safe if you know your limits and when you let your foot off the gas. but yeah if you go in the gym and try to emulate jps numbers without accounting for the years of consistency and hard work he’s put into them you will tear something overall though i feel the jp style of training to be the best

Haha yeah I think it’s in that same video he also talks about pressing with 200lb db’s…so there’s that
