I would agree a coach would be able to guide you with your evolved mindset / accountability.
However, I would like to add my 2 cents from my own experience.
Initially, my discipline to go to the gym and keeping interest was to lose a vast amount of bodyweight and fat.
When I got to 80kg, I was like what now? I had to find something, for me, I reflect on how society is, who is successful and who isn’t, how the way people look/dress and how their body spec looks in those clothes, first impressions in business always count for example. Also, health is really really important, we take it for granted but its fundamental for so many life goals; potential partner; potential kids; financial stability etc.
Prior having therapy, I was so so angry and this translated into using this in the gym, having therapy now for 5 months ish, that anger has left me completely, for heavy sets/progression, I listen to pumped up music not angry but pumped up (I quite like the London 2012 Paralympics song it’s old school!), JP said he listens to classical music, Yates says its super angry then at home it’s Bob Marley! Everyone’s different.
So long story short:
– Your rage/anger is gone (this is great, an achievement in itself), reflect on what your goal is ahead, look better? mass monster? longevity for financial/family reasons? potential future photoshoot/competition? This is lead you into a new stage on your lifting/gym journey.
– If the music is bad (my gym played lionel richie once, jesus wept!), get some cheap headphones and listen to music that amps you up.
– Be social with gym goers in your gym (if your gym is a friendly one), find out about their lifestyles, what their training goals are etc – I am very introverted, but I made a massive effort to be social in Mar/Apr this year for the first time and it’s great!
I hope this helps and wish you really super success in your journey!
i used to use the stuff that bothered me as a fuel now they are gone but i’m not used to comfort i don’t wanna sound weird but i liked the times where i had my agression where i was so angry that i couldn’t even feel the bar. i’ve had stuff growing up that made me an introvert made me depressed i wasn’t the best looking guy so i couldn’t be social. but now they don’t bother me at all its like i don’t even care so i feel empty. gym is my passion and i like too much and this agression and emotion thing before a set is an essential part.[/quote]
I get this and understand it, I have BPD and a backstory too, I am not angry anymore but you can still use music to trigger those memories to temporarily use while lifting. I am in agreement with you, gym is a passion and an essential part. The ladies are correct (as well as my point of view hah), look for your goals as mentioned in my post and the ladies posts.
I would also unofficially recommend just talking to someone too, life is so short make the most of it! I am talking from experience (ruined 6 years of my personal and work life), I dont want you to do the same!

79.9kg
Work was fine, albeit not too exciting, mental health playing up but that’s how BPD is, it flares up and then disappears, therapy is helping but at the same time, it is me who needs to keep fighting.
Took myself to the gym 5pm yesterday, very quiet, but did a successful chest and tri’s day, bb bench press has improved 4 reps x 2 of 90kg and 1 x rep of 95kg.
Today is legs, quite looking forward to it, may add abs too.
Steps per day now is c. 7.5k, looking to increase this further today.

It’s been a good weekend/week so far, work is doable and I am less stressed.
Feeling better after 3 lots of antibiotics, theres just something going around that isnt flu or covid, the GP and Chemist both agreed, I ofc took the flu vaccine and I was fine til March, crazy times.
I hit the heaviest conv deadlift raw, no straps in my life – I weighed 80.9kg in the morning and lifted 175kg, it wasn’t awfully bad either, more in the tank, 2.16 x bodyweight.
Today is chest & tri’s after work, got my fitbit working and monitoring.
Weighed 80.6kg this morning, so 4.6kg to lose.

@victormihai thats a hell alot of supps to take and cash to dosh out mate.
I agree the TBJP are great, when I started taking these I was quite impressed, the creatine and performance fuel are both helpful practically and the the side benefit is they taste nice.
But it’s alot of dosh mate, you may be loaded and thats cool, your call, but I don’t see you needing all of that unless your literally doing stage/comp, which I don’t know, you may well be.

Thats grand Clare, yeah not too big of a fan cutting food, but I’ll get the step counter, shouldnt be awfully hard to get, amazon your right. Will do your advice and go from there 🙂

I don’t count steps as I don’t have tech to track it but currently:
– 15 min brisk walk fasted outside with my dog, daily.
– No cardio in the gym at all.
– Do brisk walking randomly for errands, all my exercise daily (apart from 1 day off) is lifting 1 – 2hrs.
Full time job is at home sedentary.

@MarcHector congrats man, thats fab!

Hi @sasan85@hotmail.com currently only 200g carbs and tbh performance is fab, can’t argue.
Going to cut most processed sugar and ofc calorie deficit, thanks for your response. I am still learning! 🙂

Hey @jackedchainsaw35 appreciate I am unassisted but I am of the opinion of if using assisted stuff use a coach who can check in with you regularly. I do worry when I see stuff like this not because of being judgemental, far from it, just dont want to see you up in A&E.
I can talk from a medication perspective, I met a psych in 2018 who gave me antipsychotic medication, I reacted with side effects, but nothing awful, my contact on Linkedin had the same med and suffered seizures.
My point is that theres tonnes of factors and every persons body reacts differently. The education on here seems good regarding this but I think having a regular coach with specific knowledge would look after you alot more, do worry mate, thats all. But im not critising at all!

@Kamaragraham-virginmedia.com Thanks Kamara, appreciate the guidance!

@MarcHector Thanks Marc appreciate it fella, it motivates me to know I am slowly but surely getting there :-).
I think I can drop a few more kilos, cals are about 2k – 2.2kish so I think dropping further into a deficit is doable at this stage. I’ll need to read up on the reverse dieting as I have heard of it but will need to see how it’s done, if I recall there is a video on it somewhere here!
Btw, subscribed to your youtube and hope your shoulders doing ok mate, my fellow gym goer has tore his shoulders, been advised to get an op but said he hasnt got the time to do it, felt really bad for him, as shoulders are such a vital part we take for granted!
