    @ajbishop89

Glad trainings going well – for atlas stones, have you had issues of damaging your forearms when lifting stones? I did look at sleeves?

Best wishes with your training fella.

Yeah that’s completely normal especially when new to stone lifting.

Most will either use tape for their forearms or stone sleeves. I’ve used both in the past and they both work well.[/quote]

    @ajbishop89 grand, thank you!

Back from parents last night, lovely 6 hour drive with tonnes of ‘smart’ motorways, which aint smart. Really enjoyed my time, quality time with parents.

Back to work today and strongman training tonight.

I had a few mental health moments, suicidal ideation etc but managed to successfully use coping techniques to deal with it, sometimes it really feels having another full time job, tonnes of thoughts constantly, mental arithmetic in my head and it’s just tiring. No one really gets it unless you have it, but…”the calvary ain’t coming”, only I can fix myself.

Excited to get back to a proper gym!

    Weight unknown

Avoided parents offering wine & sweets, went to Liverpool today, did a bus tour. Went to puregym this morning, they have a sign saying dont make noise but they had 7 lifting platforms…made noise their PT stared over.. lol.

Day is nice, sunny in Liverpool, caught up with my best mate in Nandos.

Add in 200kcal from carbs training days and either the same or a little less on rest days.

Give it 10 days – Asses all areas – if your up on the scale, digestion is good and performance is up then hold there. If after 7-10 days maybe 14 days there is no changes then make small changes again.

    Grand, thanks @Hilly

Hey buddy, I’d be looking to increase food, plan so your largest carb meals are around your training window 🙂

    Thanks! 🙂

I agree with hilly and I would look to increasing protein. What’s your body weight at?

    Currently 80.4kg

Busy day work wise, back to back meetings, long day.

Gym after work – strongman event training took Adam Bishops advice by lowering the weight and worked on technique.

Farmers – 30kg, 110kg felt like the sweet spot for now – good speed, concentrating on bracing and short sharp bursts of breath.

Log – I reduced this to just the log to work on technique – 47kg but the good thing was I was able to improve by increasing reps – last week was 1 rep and a rest, now I can do 2, then rest for the next set – I am using less bicep and using hips to move the log up to chest/neck, which meant for the the additional events my forearms/bi’s were not tired like last week.

Yoke – 100 and 120kg (rather than 160!), 20 meters (to and from combined), 25 seconds, did 130kg this was ok, but again for now sweet spot.

Atlas stones – LOVE this event, my forearms bruised alot though, did 60kg x 2, 70kg x 2 then two sets of 60kg on 44″ platform then 70kg on 48″ platform did this twice.

I honestly feel massive improvement, confidence.

    Macros:

    Protein – 211g

    Carbs – 150g

    Fats – 46g

Weight is creeping up, I don’t have any boditrax scales anymore as we moved gym but I do a morning wake up physique check in the mirror and looks fine. I am thinking potentially due to changing: the following weight may have been gradually creeping up; rest days x 2 (never did this before since moving to new gym); food is a little bit more from 1800 to 2000k to now around 2.2k, new gym equipment, which I feel its making a difference.

Work is mad, AI happy, got accepted for an AI apprenticeship at work, 13 months of graft but good.

    Macros yesterday:

    Protein – 214g

    Carbs – 200g

    Fats – 55g

Today strongman events and a 20 min walk.

We arrived in Villajoyosa yesterday, which is a small town North of Aliante, Spain. It’s absolutely beautiful and we’re staying in a lovely hotel situated the beach front.

We got our bearings and explored the area once we’d settled in and spent some time walking along the beach and trying out one of the local restaurants.

This morning, I got up early for a sunrise run, and we’re sitting at breakfast now planning the day ahead (I love a hotel breakfast!).

Can’t go wrong with a hotel brekky! How do you deal with training/food on holiday?

Yesterday was the first day of upper + Wendler 531.

    – Flat Bench (5/3/1), Machine T Bar Row, Cable Tri Pushdown, Standing Machine Shrug, Machine Incline Bench Press, Machine Lateral Raise.

My body felt better as I had a rest day the day before, I concentrated fully on form & time under tension on last set for each exercise I used pause reps to hit 12 (got to about 8 then resting 15 secs another 4 with good form).

Decided to cut down a tree, Mrs not too impressed, but I am not a gardener/DIY person!

    Nutrition:

    Protein – 203g

    Carbs – 134g

    Fats – 33g

    Monthly measurements improved:

    Neck – 14.96″, Bicep Unflexed (right) – 13.58″, Bicep Flexed (right) – 15″, Chest – 41.06″, Waist – 32.2″ and Quad (right) – 22.75″.

Doing lower today, rest tomorrow as in office.

Day was productive, passed my AI certificate just need to do some admin to sort out with the institute, doing question writer exam later today. Helping neighbour cut down part of a tree, exciting home cleaning (lol), going to gym in a hour, which very much looking forward to.

Yesterday was a complete rest day, was very mindful of calories due to lack of exercise, got around 6-7k steps. Resting heart rate post coming back from hol is settling at 59, which I am happy with. It was at c. 64 due to nearly burning out at work, holiday was able to put things in perspective.

Loving strongman training, and now changed from separate bodypart workouts (done since May 24) to Upper / Lower x 2 per week + 1 strongman session – plus 2 rest days.

Bought a glucose monitor and will be trying when home from gym.

I am working hard at fine tuning everything to make life better.

Going to Liverpool to see family on Friday, very much looking forward to seeing my parents.
