It sounds like you have experience training which is great albeit you have taken a break from training. You’ve tried both upper / lower and PPL. I will flip it back to you, there’s no right or wrong answer here on which one you choose.
How many days can you dedicate to the gym and be able to adhere to each week?
Is there a training split that jumps out at you that you would like to do?
Honestly I can dedicate 7 days but I know it isn’t realistic from not only a fatigue standpoint as well as recovery/life in general. So yes based on my experience with a client getting back in the swing of things an upper lower may be a starting point and that’s how I see it.
To be frank I didn’t expect so much help from the forums and I’m very grateful for it.
For what jumps out at me is to get the foundation back and build up from there. Will definitely track my progress going forward!

I don’t want to spend 3 hours in the gym and I like focus more volume into each body part. But that’s me, it’s always work very well for me
Sas the legend! I definitely see myself doing a body part split but I know for now I do want to set the foundation but it’s something to keep in mind so I thank you for the insight! In the end it’s what you enjoy! Thanks again

I’m sure most people will recommend starting with a full body split and there are a lot of videos on the education section about how to programme these workouts, you can also find information on this on JPs YouTube! I personally like a full bodypart split, if your schedule will allow you to do so. PPL is also a good option as you sound like more of an intermediate lifter. It doesn’t really matter too much what split you decide, just start whatever you think you will enjoy the most and make adjustments as time goes on. I would start with fewer exercises and fewer sets and then build up from that. Keep it basic.
Thank you buddy for the response! I think upper lower will be the way to go but I’ve been curious on a full body split however idk if I would be consistent with it.

I’ll crack on with Upper Lower and use that split until it’s time to move on to Push Pull Legs probably once I get my goal bodyweight to begin to slowly push bodyweight.

Hello I am also natural. Loving this way to train. One question I have for everyone is about equipment. Gyms where I live are shut down however I have free weights, squat rack, adjustable bench, and loadable dumbbells. Can I train this way with free weights only? I have everything I need for progressive overload. Just asking for tips since I don’t have hack squat, leg curl machine etc to use
