This may be silly however when you say weight stall does that mean exactly that ? My average weight would be for example 89.9 then next week 89.9 ? And only the daily weight would still fluctuate or is true maintenance void of any daily fluctuations ? That should be my last question

Perfect thank you ! Talking about accuracy, I have the exact same foods set for my plan and am sticking to them at the amounts set however sometimes a wrap is off by a gram or 2 either direction and some times the beef isn’t packaged at the exact weight each time and differs by about 2 grams either way, I have then logged that but the calories aren’t exactly on the same number. Some meals are some meals aren’t do I need to tighten this up and maybe switch to a food where it is exact to the number every single time or is a gram or two fine as long as it’s not obviously different ? For example if one day was 3700 kcal and the next day 3720 is that ok ?

Awesome thanks heaps Clare and Marc !

I was following chat gpts advice of sticking in a range and that makes sense why it has taken me nearly a month to be close to maintanance.

I’ve been doing body weight fasted daily and weekly progress photos with logging on a spreadsheet and hitting my average calories.

However with all your advice I think these small changes are all I need.

I’ll watch how my body responds to all this and keep it at a singular number with continuing to track everything as is.

Thanks again for all the advice much appreciated

Thank you Clare ! I appreciate the clarification with the range ! Who knew maintanance was also very difficult as a beginner tracker haha I’ll eat a little more to fit in exactly 3700 kcal and I will make sure that is stable for a whole week and assess then and drop as you both advised.

I’m aware everyone is different however have you seen a trend in the duration before a stall happens ?

Amazing thank you ! Is 300kcal a good target or is that too steep? I would love to retain as much as possible and don’t want to rush it 🙂

And how much protein should I be getting in? Is 185 enough? What determines how much I need?

You should aim for 1g per pound of lean body mass or if you aren’t able to figure that out I usually go 1 gram per goal body weight in pounds if you use kgs then just multiply by 2.205 so if you want to be at 70kgs you’d want 154.35g I’d then round it off (154g)

I think I may know why the military link came up.

I was a Bootneck for 20 years, worked with a guy called Jordan Peter Dawes (he has a coaching business called The Phyz Factory) and he’s quite prominent in the CrossFit/Fitness world in the uk. Really good pals with Jason Fox who was also a Bootneck (before selection). Anyway, to answer the question…

Royal Marine training was all bodyweight/calisthenics style stuff, but we were allocated gym time. I just didn’t know what the fuck I was doing at the time. 0630 every morning, up and into phys followed by a run (depended on the DS as to length). It kept me strong but very slender as I have small frame anyway. They fed us up but our expenditure was high so built more for endurance and pace.

I can’t train 6/7 times a week anymore if I want to grow. So maybe try a FBEOD and see whether you enjoy it.

Benners you are a legend ! Thank you so much for clarification on that chat gpt topic ! I had no idea that posting that I’d come across yourself who it’s referring to ! And thank you for your service ! I hope you’re doing well since leaving the Royal Marines, and I hope the current issues over there aren’t affecting you too much as I know all vets that served and fought for their country do not deserve what’s happening, anyway I know this isn’t a political platform so I won’t say any more but i do thank you for your response and insight into this. I have definitely taken on board all of this and am great full for all advice given. All the best !

    Amazing information Rich, thank you.

My conditioning isn’t really too great but I am aiming to get it to a good standard, I think I’m at about 18% body fat so I want to bring that down to maybe 15% to be a bit more realistic for my current level. I do want to mainly focus on muscle growth so I’m happy to compromise days although I don’t want to after that response I will aim to do the full body plan as suggested by Jordan on his videos, I’ve basically watched all that are in the beginner stage as I want to take it seriously. I do like the high intensity approach !

I’ll stick with it for the year and discipline myself to have the rest days. I was spinning my wheels for a long time. I’ll be back in about a year then to update my progress in this thread ! Then move to the upper lower.

Thank you so much for your help you guys are awesome !

I’m no expert but, the best way to train is a was that you enjoy and hit as much volume as you can recover from mate

More of an expert than me ! Thanks heaps for the advice ! I’ll give it a go and check my recovery needs a little more.

    Kind regards

I possibly may be in that direction soon, is there a way in this app that we can contact a coach ? Or is that more find the coach from this platform and look them up on an alternate page ? Apologies if that is a silly question !
