Despite another new low weigh in this morning and feeling like absolute death the last couple days, progress was made in today’s lower session ???? I’m absolutely delighted.

Getting into the flow of my new norm. Is it difficult? Very much so right now. Prepping for a show that more than likely won’t go ahead but I remain hopeful ???? 10 weeks out today.

Feeling like utter crap but damn once I lock into my session the focus and passion is unmatched.

On my hour and a half drive back from the gym right now and just going through what I’m grateful for.

    Session went as follows

Lying ham curl x7,x12 (up 1rep)

Safety bar squat x15, 9 (up weight- felt strong)

Paused BB box squat (just below parallel) x13, x12, x20- questioned my sanity on rep 15 ????)

Paused BB glute/hip thrusts x12,11 with 10 sec iso hold on last rep. These were up significantly! 150kg first set, 160kg second set. Absolutely buzzing about this ????

Abductor (cable machine) x21, x18 (up in weight)!
    X
Frog pumps to failure with 30kg dB.

Adductor cable machine x20 (up in weight)

    Hanging leg raises x2 sets

    Calves x3 sets

Glad you’re feeling a bit better Lara. It’s so difficult to stay positive right now. I’m having my ups and downs the last couple of days too. It feels like all of this is never ending but we will get through this and be stronger mentally when we do come through all of this ????

Well no major news… apart from the fact that I spent the majority of my working week sitting at a desktop reading back over old training journals and logs, including yours. (One of the first obviously..)

    Two questions:
    1) I had no idea there was a Cooked by Corinne series?! And I would LOVE to see some more recipes by chef Corinne seeing as you are in an improvement season… perhaps? ????????

    2) Who thought you how to cook/bake?

    3) Do you still bake for special occasions for others/yourself?

    So another day…
Yesterday another garage gym session. Currently following my training program as best I can with the equipment I have. To my surprise, after hitting a new low this prep and how dog shit I felt yesterday, I hit some PBs!! Absolutely delighted with that!

Currently in my spin bike doing rest day cardio. Woke up lighter again this morning. Will attach some pics because I think I’m finally starting to make some progress ????????

Day off of work due to low amount of workload so taking it as a blessing in disguise although I need to find something to do to keep my mind occupied ???? house work it is ????

Oh my goodness Lara thank you ???? I can’t believe that YOU are saying that! I’ll post my most recent ones now too.

I had one lesson with Cydney Gillian back in December so I’ve practicing what she thought me. I’ve actually been practising on my own since then, just trying pick bits and pieces from the professionals. Lots of videos, reviewing, tweaking etc. I think I need to book another posing lesson soon though ????

My overhead press will always be the first to take a hit deep into a prep. Other lifts may still be progressing, but this one is a bugger! I think it has a lot to do with stability and the shift in positioning during free weight exercises as bodyweight drops and joints are less cushioned. Switching the rep range may help or swapping out the movement for something more fixed like a machine or smith press, but at the end of the day if you’re giving each session everything and still keeping intensity high, that’s all you can do.

Clare thank you so much for your reassurance ???? it’s quite disheartening especially when you love training shoulders. ???? but alas.. I have to realise it’s part and parcel of this whole process.
I’d love to be able to switch to a smith machine/fixed OHP movement but I don’t think any of us have that option right now ????????
I’ll switch rep ranges and perhaps do some SA OHP presses and do my utmost to kee the intensity as high as possible.

Thank you so much for your feedback. Hope you’re staying safe and healthy ????

Oh goodness I’m no where near show condition yet so I think I may need to keep trucking on ???? I’ll see what happens at next check in. All be it I could be prepping for another show that could be postponed but we’ll keep the faith ☺️????

    Katie you are looking amazing!!
Don’t be disheartened with strength going down this can happen in prep especially when considering output! Just be sure to keep that intensity up in your sessions!
Keep us updated on your journey!! Excited to see your final package ???? ????????

Oh my goodness Rhea I cannot believe you’re saying those words to me ???? THANK YOU ????????

And thank you for your words of encouragement. It was just getting to me mentally as I didn’t think I should be happening but I really do have to consider my cardio volume and food intake right now also.

I just have to keep trying my best.

And of course I will, oh my goodness I still can’t bribe you’re saying that ???? hope you’re staying safe and healthy in Oz x x

It’s a really tough one during prep. I began to notice I was getting a little weaker and dropping a little weight here and there or a rep or 2. I expressed to Jordan and he said it’s a given on prep when getting to the dog end and nearly being ready. So he suggested changing rep ranges. Keep lifts between 8-12 rep ranges. Still work to failure but it takes the focus away from matching old numbers and gives a new goal to work to. Find your strength in that rep range and work to hold that.

Thank you Haider.. I realise it’s a given on prep but I’m still 10 weeks out (should have been 6 weeks out but whatever ????) . Food is lower than I’d like it to be so I have to take this into consideration too. Thanks for your help and feedback I really do appreciate it. Will find a rep range where I work in and on over the coming weeks.

If food is lower and the date has been pushed back is there no way you can increase food ?

Hard to say as Michael said there is a time in prep when strength just decreases so could be that.

Thanks Kevin. Appreciate the feedback. ☺️

It’s tough to say what’s the reason during a prep. In my preps there is always a point where i loose a lot of my pressing strenght. Especially free weight movements.
Is your strength decreasing also a lot on other exercises like pull or legs?

Thanks Michael! No, actually all of my other movements are still progressing or being matched week on week it’s literally just the pressing free weight OHP movements that have been gradually getting weaker. I’ve always had issues with tightness in my scapula, trap and mid thoracic region but I’m religious about stretching, warming up, cooling down before and after sessions.

Oh gosh what a disaster ???? apologies ????

Ohhh those Easter egg earrings sound delightful ☺️ what type of egg though? ????

Perhaps a cafeteria/French press? If he likes coffee? Or some DIY tool thing? And I totally agree… it’s easy enough but for my dad as he LOVES getting socks/underwear, BASIC stuff. Pen knives also always a good one for him as he always loses them ????????

I suppose it depends on what he’s “in to”… perhaps a mini waffle iron? I’ve gifted this particular item to a couple of friends who like to cook or who are foodies… and they loved it ????
