I haven’t had TBJP Vegan but I agree that the couple I did have were good. I’m currently using a beef based protein powder and the chocolate PB and Vanilla Caramel are great, mixed in CoR or in coffee. So neither option, vegan or beef, is a poor choice, IMO.

If I was taking that much, my T3 would be well over range and my TSH would be below 0.75, which is the high end of the range, the way I think of it. 4.2 is the low end.

That’s a lot of thyroid meds, IMO. The labs should have it down near 0.25. My TRT Dr says 0.75 is considered optimal and below that you are very catabolic. Besides TSH, you should see free T3 as well, the higher that is, long term, the more counter productive to bodybuilding.

For foul gas, first thing I’d change out is the eggs. Try that for three days and see if anything changes. Also, gas/bloating is typically something you have eaten 2-6 hours before the gas starts. Hope that helps.

When I dealt with this it was a couple things. First, when not lifting, I was spending a lot of time with my head down and forward, looking at screens. Daily I do 10 neck pushbacks and 10 push backs with neck crunches (look up to the ceiling) which helps keep the fluid in the vertebrae even. My physical therapist gave me those. And the other was breathing and to help there, I count the reps out loud. I personally drink 6-8 liters of water per day, never less than 6, and on hard workout days or hot days, it’s 8.

I use Pride Foods CoR, and for 100g of CoR, I add 500ml of water, microwave 90 seconds, stir, 99 seconds, stir and then 30 second intervals until it boils up above the water line. Then I add cinnamon, blueberries and straight protein powder. Mix it up and then add a RTD Fairlife protein to get it soupy and cool enough to eat.

Now three weeks post prep. Weight is up 20 lbs from the one day low I hit during prep, so 193 up to 213. Still working on consistency to my meal plan and have been dealing with GI issues. During my prep, my Dr put me on a 30 day course of antibiotics to kill off my SIBO. Since that course ended, I have tried to rebuild my biome with probiotics in the evening and digestive enzymes with each meal. Now it seems, I have yeast overgrowth. So, I’m avoiding processed sugars, using plenty of garlic and cinnamon and have a few natural Supps coming to help combat it, until I see the specialist on 20JUL. The good news is, this actually helps keep me on plan because sugars cause such bloating, gas and distending of my gut.

Friday was 2 weeks post prep. Labs showed elevated AST, ALT and BUN as would be expected on the orals and AI schedule I was on, combined with low food and high activity. Ordered up some Kidney and Liver support and my next labs are 12JUL.

I also, officially, ended my relationship with my coach on Tuesday.

Weight stabilized at 210 lbs with a body fat between 9-10%. I ate on plan from Sunday thru Friday, and had my date meal on Saturday and a bunch of unscheduled activities on Sunday. So, weight this morning was 212.

So, we are going to add a meal six to training days to help fight my middle of the night hunger and leave non training days alone.

Strength is going up, energy too. I’m back to enjoying my training sessions and my life overall. Looking forward to adding 10-15 lbs of muscle this off season. Going to live the 2 XL life!!

I’m completely in agreement with kuba and Marc here. I mean with where you are there is no way of getting out of it – it’s going to be hard. It will for anyone getting into true condition. Getting shredded is difficult. Some people have to go 0 carb and high drugs … they do it because maybe they’re better at dealing with these shit times ? Do they want it more ? Are they willing to be feeing dizzy and low etc ? Maybe ? Or maybe you need to back off refresh and go again.

Ultimately you have to ask yourself how much u want this because to get peeled from here it’s going to be v v hard and is it worth it to you ?

I want to thank each and every one of you for your responses. At 44 years old, my health, relationships, kids and job are more important than this show. I talked to everyone, except my coach, I will do that tomorrow, and decided to pull out of the show. I truly love bodybuilding but not like this. Like Kuba said, I need a proper off-season and I need to get a coach that thinks more like I do. I am a planner, I like short and long term goals and I understand that the plan can change based on circumstances, however, that’s now how this is going. He may be a great coach for some people but this just isn’t working. So again, thank you for helping me see the right thing to do. I will go back to TRT tomorrow, and up my calories to a maintenance level and then in 8 weeks, get my bloods done and begin a productive off-season.

    Hi Kevin

I believe based on what you have said to us you have made the right decision for yourself and also your family.

The stage will always be there should you want to compete in the future with the guidance of a different coach. Most importantly look after your health for now and also be proud of how far you have come with hanging in so long with prep, that’s some going!

Keep us all posted on how things go speaking with your coach and also your next steps. We are here to help and advise you the best we can.

    All the best!
I spoke with my coach yesterday and told him about all the extra things I was doing and just focused on that. He gave me direction on a 6ish week reverse diet and will set up the bulk plan. So I will focus on regaining my health and strength with food and rest. Then start the bulk. I don’t plan on using him for my next prep, which I am looking at starting 20 weeks out, to make sure I bring the right package and not kill myself or fail at compliance in the process. Thanks again. I will plan on weekly check ins here.

In my posing trunks was last Friday’s check in and the ab shots were Monday at 193 lbs.

What I would say is your food is very low & your cardio is very high – what’s your current rate of weight loss at the moment? It might be worth pushing for a later show and having a diet break to mitigate some of the diet fatigue and hopefully allow you to continue dieting on a higher amount of food. – I’d also say you need to establish what you want to achieve from the show so you wanna be absolutely peeled to the bone because nobody says you have to be as long as you’re happy with how you look on the day. No show is worth compromising your health so really think about your goals and your future etc obviously getting in stage condition is never easy and some preps will be harder then others.
Rate of weight loss has been 3-4 lbs a week, when I can stay on plan. For my first show on 21MAY, I was 201.9. On 6/2 I was 196.5 and 6/6 I was 192.9 before I lost all control over eating. Since I have been all over, this morning’s weight of 202.8 really means nothing. I figure, even with the extra carbs, I will normalize by Sunday.
So this is just my opinion, I think that if you have your heart set on doing a show I would push it back a bit not long but another few weeks and work with a different coach…

This prep hasn’t been managed right & usually that is the case as to why people end up on such low food, high cardio & feeling utterly dreadful. Prep is hard no doubt about it but there is definitely stupid shit that some people do which makes it wayyyy harder then it needs to be. I’d say a diet break would be beneficial to help get you in a good place mentally and physically to keep pushing leaner, and the drugs side of things needs to change smarter cycle design way less AIs try to avoid using any if possible. Along with that giving yourself more time will allow you to be less aggressive with the diet making it easier to stick too and hopefully keeping you feeling a bit more functional.
Thank you Dan. I’m going to keep pushing but with a little more food and if I feel any of the mental stuff and blurry vision coming back, I will back off a couple days, get everything straight and then push on. 6 weeks is a long time. Prior to the first show, lost 21 lbs in 5 weeks, so I can do quite a bit.

    Hi Kevin

I have read through your question and the response from the guys regarding feedback as to your next steps.

I do think you have a little more to come off to get really nice stage condition and with 6 times you have enough time.

But I fully agree with kuba’ a reply here. You have to weigh up how far you are now willing to push further. Each coach has different approaches, but this based on how you’re feeling is physically and mentally very hard. You don’t want to dig yourself into a further hole.

Prep is tough, there’s no doubt about that but equally health is more important and you’re a family man.

Have a think about what you truly want to do in terms of continuing or backing off, maybe even doing a later show.

Ultimately, make the best decision for you and your well-being.

Thank you. Just by adding in the 80g of Carbs the last two days, I have lost the cravings for other food and all the mental stuff has cleared up. I even had a great pull day today and did my full cardio afterwards. I never thought something like this would “crack” me but 6 weeks of 1700 calories and all that cardio really took a toll.

I’m assisted, 500 Test C, 300 Tren, 300 Mast P, (injectables are per week) 100 mg Winny, 100 mg Prov, and 80 mg Clen (orals per day and Clen cycles from 40 to 120 and then off) With 25mg of Exemestane per day and 80 mg of Nova per day. I started at this food and cardio level on 27APR and have only had a break for my first show 21MAY and was right back on plan 23MAY. The refeed is 5 meals of 4 ounces of fish or chicken breast with 300g of cooked Jasmine rice and 2 meals of 6 ounces of 93/7 lean beef with 200g sweet potatoes.

Imo that is way too many AIs has your coach given any reason as to why they’re being used at those sorta dosages?
He said it was to prevent water retention from high estrogen. I have run more test though on my own, with only taking AIs when I feel the estrogen. And that was never more than a couple per week.
Sorry if your coach is telling you this he really doesn’t understand what drugs do and how. Sounds like you are a great guy and a soldier. You need to get stuck into our forums and really see that this is not the way
Thanks Kuba. I knew the AI wasn’t right and I did question it, just like the forums here say but he let me have it over going back to taking it just when I felt I needed it. Unfortunately, I have accepted too much money from my gym and my parents and of course, everything is non-refundable, so I’m going to do the show but this has really soured me to ever competing again. I will change my expectations for the show and will just take a safer approach to the food and cardio. After he sees all that I’ve put in my check-in for tomorrow, if he stays true to form, he will blow up at me and may even drop me. But that would probably be for the best. Thanks again.
