Well even for some who aren’t injured the leg press is a better leg exercise. If you feel pain in squats then ditch the squats and focus on the leg press. That’s what I would do. There is no must do exercise in my opinion. There are always alternatives

Or do you feel fresh and ready to smash the weights? Did you cut to competition level shape or just lean? You should be able to answer your own question imo

Hey! It seems to me like your trainer wants to make the “cutting” phases the norm and the bulks something that is short and exceptional. It should be the other way round. 12-16 weeks bulk, 4 to 8 weeks mini cuts. I believe his logic here is that you need to lose some fat since 17% per cent is high ish. In that case, don’t bother with the short clean bulk as he says. I’d keep going with the cut and remove the fat then go for a long steady bulk.

Hey Dean,
What is your opinion on 4-Andro and 1-Andro?
Thanks for your input -
I usually take a rather simple approach that works for me. If say you eat 6 meals per day, 5 of those with 100g of carbs. I would take out the carbs in one of those meals, preferably not around the workout. That gives you 250 P 400 C 80 F. See where that takes you. As soon as you stall maybe drop another carb meal etc etc. If you feel like you need the carbs you can drop some fats because you’re starting from quite a high amount. I’m not a coach or anything like that but that is the approach I take. Hope this helps.

I’d like to thank you for giving us all a sense of community on this website. I’m from the UK but currently living in France and bodybuilding isn’t so popular over here. I train alone and don’t have anyone to really share my passion for bodybuilding with. This site has given me just that and so much more. Many thanks and admire you and all the guys (James, Luke etc) a lot.

Me personally I’d go for higher weight but only if you feel good, strong and ready to progress. You may be overthinking things. If you feel good after warm ups and feel like you can beat reps or weight from last session, go for it

Is this per week?

Is it affecting your training a lot? If it’s only minor tears is shoulder surgery even necessary? I would wait until the MRI results to make decisions

Hey!
First of all I’m no expert.
You are gaining very slowly. Let’s say you gain half a kilo every 2 weeks.. that’s only a 13 kilo gain over the year. At that pace, I’m sure your gains are pretty lean? The only reason for the mini cuts are either to drop fat from gaining too much of it or just to get the benefits of a rebound, give your body a break from all the big eating etc.. Does your body look good? Do you feel good? If yes is your answer to both of those questions, then by all means keep going.
I personally am more agressive in my bulking so I gain some fat and need those “cuts”.
Hope this helps, Louis -
Thanks JP, appreciate the answers.

Thanks for your answer legend! Yes I’ve been pretty agressive, I want to get in and out of this phase to be honest. I haven’t lost a lot of strength, only on a few movement, mostly free weight compounds for some reason. To what point would you consider enough for a mini cut? How lean?
