Hey everyone hope you’re well!
Just under 10 weeks out now, I still don’t feel I’ve had my ass kicked but Ally pulled food again today so maybe it’s coming haha!
Annual leave from work started on Saturday so I’ve 13 days off with no nightshifts or shift work in general, giving me time to focus on prep, clients and family, bliss haha!!Checking in 3 times a week now and while visuals are definitely tighter, the scales aren’t playing the same game! Let’s see where the latest food drop takes us.
0 RIR week this week so it may be a big test! -
We’re fast approaching the 10 weeks out mark and things look like they’re finally moving how Ally and I want them to.
Yesterday morning I had a .7kg drop, this morning, after nightshift might I add, I had a .4kg drop. You’ve no idea how much this spurred me on.The hunger ramped up a bit after the latest calorie drop but it now feels like I’m working for it which is what I’ve been chasing since day 1, I want to have to work hard!!
I came home from legs yesterday and felt a bit meh, knowing I had nightshift to do and the fact I was battered from the session. My shorts had arrived though and this gave me a huge lift, it was fantastic!!🚀

Hey Ross,
Its great to hear that prep is going well! I like to think of hunger as a good thing and use that to continue working hard and pushing on.
Looking forward to following your prep 🙂
Hey Phoebe thanks so much for the post, I’ve felt hunger ramp up yesterday but like you’ve said it’s only fired me on even more because that must mean something is happening. Hope you’re well!

Just over 10 weeks out. Had a midweek check in and food was pulled further with 30 minutes more cardio introduced too.
Today I’m feeling it slightly, the hunger is real but I am so focussed and driven it’s not even phased me a little.
Had posing yesterday with Alex Freshwater, that was an eye opener but fun. Positioning instantly looked better which I’m happy with, the side shot looks so much better!Workout 2 of the week tonight, let’s get after it!

Leg day, I always get nervous excited for Thursdays. I’d had a bit of a poor session on Tuesday so was more nervous today incase this session spat me out. Today’s session was mega though, had a couple of pals join in and Alice was in the gym too so the vibe was good!
My legs have come on massively this year with relatively low volume and it’s always an enjoyable, but tough session.Weight held down at 96 today so hopefully no food drop tomorrow at check in haha! Nightshift 2 of 2 tonight before rest days, already looking forward to getting some coaching work done and enjoying family time.
Sunday marks 11 weeks out, feeling good, feeling strong, feeling focussed and driven. -
Weight dropped to 96.1kg today, hallelujah haha! Lowest weight so far.
Last night’s session wasn’t great, the first session of prep where I felt a bit battered. Got home from the gym, ate and fell asleep on the couch haha!
Today’s rest day was absolutely needed, it was a nice day spent with Alice doing shopping and client check ins. Now I’m at nightshift, nightshift 1 of 2 before 4 days off and I’m ready for them.
I registered for the Granite City Classic tonight, it’s starting to get a bit real now! -
Midweek check in with Ally today, scales dropped back down to 97kg this morning. It has to be shift work that’s impacting them so drastically, everything else has been on the money. As always. There’ll potentially be a food drop at my next check in on Friday if things don’t speed up towards the end of the week.
Last night’s session felt pretty heavy, first time in a long time I’ve felt like that in the gym but I quite enjoyed it, there’s something satisfying about pushing through that pain.
Day shift number 2 today, upper body session number 2 tonight then posing with Alex Freshwater tomorrow. Let’s gooooo

Happy new year to you all!!
Did a comparison today to January of 2022 and I think it’s fair to say progress has been made!
I weighed 99kg in 2022 and 97.8 today but look better at this lower weight.Ally pulled food on Friday and it’s no surprise that the hunger is real, it always is haha! But we continue to push on. The scales are playing funny buggers and not coming down so far this week, weight has actually gone up but I’m undoubtedly leaner so I’ll take that.
Took my usual Sunday rest yesterday, will train tonight after work, it’s the first of my 2 2RIR weeks. -
Merry Christmas to you all for tomorrow!
Monday marks the start of week 5 of prep and I’ve a feeling a big food drop may be coming at the start of the year as my weight isn’t moving as quickly as we’d hoped.
Ally pulled food yesterday with slightly higher calories being used on upper body training days and the lowest calories on rest days. Cardio was pushed to 180 minutes for the week while steps have stayed at 10,000.
Today I was 98.6kg after being 98.3 yesterday 🤦🏼♂️ but I feel good, I’m enjoying my cardio and going out for more steps is actually quite nice.
There’s something satisfying about knowing that many people wouldn’t want to prep during a Scottish winter because it’s absolutely grim but here I am absolutely loving steps in the dark and rain.
Training still seems to be flying, hunger is an ever present feeling that I’ve had to learn to roll with since forever and I’m excited to see what’s still to come.
Here’s some photos from yesterday’s check in, I hope Santa is good to you all tomorrow and you enjoy some time with your nearest and dearest 💛
Hi Ross. Sounds like prep is going well and you’re in the right place mentally. Will you be having some relaxed eating over Christmas or continuing on plan?

Morning Clare, hope you had a good Christmas Day.
I had the day off yesterday, didn’t go completely mental, back to normal today and ready to keep pushing. -

Hey everyone!
I’ve not been here for 2 months, it’s been a bit of a mental time. Alice competed for the first time at 2bros at the end of August and then again at the Arnold’s in September, the continuation of prep after 2bros was a very difficult time for us and post show wasn’t much better. It’s been a tough one!Have many of you struggled, like, seriously struggled, whether on prep or post show?
Ally and I have decided I’m going to compete in the Scottish shows in 2023 starting in Aberdeen on March 26th. This’ll be my first ever time on stage and I’m very aware of the need to do everything I can to make sure Alice and I’s relationship doesn’t suffer.
I finished off-season at 104.4kg and today marks the end of week 2 of prep, three days ago I was 99.9kg but a nasty leg day brought about a big weight jump, thankfully saw it come down to 100.2kg today. I’ve attached photos below, end of off season vs post fasted cardio today.I’m actually really enjoying the fasted cardio and feeling a bit lighter, less full up. Hunger is an ever present feeling for me though, even when food gets a bit higher so I’m going to have to try to manage that best I can during prep.
Looking forward to keeping a prep log here and answering any questions any of you may have! -
Nearly 2 months have passed, man I’m hopeless at this!!
I’ve attached my most recent photo, sitting around the 100kg mark without a doubt in the best condition yet.Food is way up at 4775 calories, coaching has taken off nicely, Alice competed at the Arnold’s last weekend after a mega mega, tough prep.
Nightshift tonight, you know the drill

Back again. I promise I’ll be good at this one day haha!!
Food still holding at 3900 but scale weight is up, 95.6kg today giving us currently a weekly average of 95kg.
Training is going well, everything seems to be moving very smoothly, we’re in a good spot and growing. Can’t really ask for more than that in a gaining phase!
