From what I’ve seen and read, if you built a decent foundation and trained your arse off then you should transition fine. Granted your recovery will take a hit and strength may slightly decline, along with being a bit softer. However, you likely know all of this already.
@ryanpetford the Natty King has given you a decent supp list. If you do your bloods, likely a good idea to get those health markers back in range so may be worth introducing some additional sups depending on your individual needs initially. Hopefully though you’ve been taking care of your health early on so risk will be minimised anyway.

When I had a home gym setup in 2012 and used them, had no problems. Communication and service was on point, however I did see a few negative reviews but I went for it. Ordered a few more times after that and again, no problems.
Now, obviously your scenario is completely different and during an unseen pandemic. Goes without saying, they were not anticipating quite as much business and same with other usually reputable companies. Like everything, they work on a supply and demand basis so when they received an influx of orders they couldn’t meet the demand but still took the orders.
Granted this is obvious and I would be pissed if I were you. I know loads of people had their power rack orders cancelled by companies as they couldn’t meet the demand.
To get your money back, it depends on how you paid but you can contact the provider of your payment method. Credit cards and PayPal are generally very good with refunding you. Visa is still possible but not as foolproof.
Aside from people agreeing with you on their own experiences or sharing their views, not sure what else can be done aside from contacting them as you have or contacting your payment method to obtain your refund.
Sorry to hear you had a shitey experience mate.

Wow Sam, what a roller coaster of 2020 its been for you so far this year.
I had read your log from when Ireland went into full lockdown and work was quiet- so happy to see you’re back on here.
Wishing you a speedy recovery ????_________________________________________
@katiecshallbe_
@kate-collins hey Kate, thanks for dropping by. Hah I don’t think anyone has had the smoothest set up this year at all. Despite the circumstances, the resilience the bodybuilding community is showing is amazing. I cannot imagine what prep must feel like, especially if it was someone’s first year.
Wow, you must’ve had a lot of spare time. Could’ve binged a tv series instead or re-watched the JP education section????
Thank you ???? just need to be sensible and as usual, listen to my body. I’m still 18 in my head though!!
From reading your log and judging from your Insta, you have been working your ass off. Results are speaking for themselves – looking fantastic ???? whether there’s a stage or not at the end, you have achieved tons and should be proud

Weeeellll, this feels strange. Haven’t updated this log in months and must say it feels strange to do so now. I haven’t fallen out of love with training or anything, it’s a part of me and something I have done since I was 14. However, since the start of the year something just didn’t feel right – I was tired, training became a chore and I just didn’t feel myself. Much as I tried to convince myself otherwise, I wasn’t and I think it was more draining trying to pretend I was ok. I found myself not wanting to talk to people and would go out of my way to avoid it, even becoming anxious at the thought of bumping into someone at the water cooler at work. It looks bizarre reading this back, however there were no personal issues going on and health was fine.
The only thing technically wrong with me that I could place was my left shoulder. This has been something I have been working around for years and it has always been in the back of my head. Always holding me back and giving out before my right side. In the past I’ve tried several different treatments such as deep tissue, physio and acupuncture and while some provided mild short term release, I would find it would crop back up in no time.
At the beginning of the year I decided enough was enough. I went to a private hospital [one of the benefits of working for an American company is health insurance] and met a specialist. On the day I had a consultation, an MRI and X-ray with results being given in the following two weeks, remarkable service. At no detriment to the NHS in the slightest, the efficiency and turnaround was something else. Long story short – the diagnosis was a shoulder impingement. Treatment offered was keyhole surgery in which 4mm of bone would be shaved off of the shoulder as this was causing a large chunk of the problem. Along with inflammation of th tendons, it was any wonder my shoulder was functional.
I took a few days to decided and talking it through with the OH and some others. I’d never had surgery before and the longest I had ever had off of the gym was a week and half since day one of training. Naturally, anxiety kicked in but I decided along with my how my head was and the shoulder was never getting better by itself, I elected for the surgery. Now, I booked this in January for Friday March 13th and like everyone was completely oblivious about the massive changes about to affect the world.
In the weeks leading up to the surgery I was waiting for the call to cancel it, but before I knew it I was in there and it as done. Having never had any form of surgery, I was not sure what to expect. In the first few days after the surgery, it was bloody painful. A very blunt ache and just constant. I didn’t sleep for more than 30 minutes before waking up in pain. The worst part was on the night of surgery I woke up with my arm in an L shape, similar to the bottom of a shoulder press but I was laying down. I had to carefully pull my arm back to my side which took the longest and most painful five minutes of my life. A week after surgery the lockdown was announced and gyms had closed. In a weird kind of way, I couldn’t have timed it better. Don’t get me wrong – people have lost livelihoods, loved ones and many other sacrifices but there’s me saying ‘well, at least it won’t affect me as I can’t really train.’.
I made the decision very early on to just let my body rest. I live in one bed flat and there is no space for proper equipment in the slightest. No bands were used or bw exercises. Now, if I had been fully operational and training normally I would’ve found a way, especially last year during my comp prep. However, I took this as a sign to just rest and spend time on other ventures.
11 weeks have now passed and while not fully healed, the shoulder feels a lot more better. Things have changed a fair bit in those 11 weeks and I have access to training equipment now. Now, begins the re-build but while still being mindful of that recovery is still underway.

Three days into the year and boy has it been a busy one already, finally had a moment to breathe. Got a week off work now so time for a bit of r ‘n’ r. Going away this weekend as it’s my birthday on Monday, so the missus is planning a getaway. No idea where we’re going, but trust her judgement and looking forward to it. Usually I train at a gym when we’re away and do my research in advance, however undecided as back on Monday so may just hit the usual. A lot of people like to scope out local restaurants, bars, tourist attractions – I like finding me a good gym and seeing what’s out there. May be a meal off plan, but mainly just looking forward to spending some quality time with my good lady. Aside from staying at air bnbs for my comps, we didn’t really get away.
Soooo, first leg session of the year and not my best. Energy was flagging big time and trained late in the evening after a long and stressful day. Still, excuses aside only one set dropped off quite a bit and that was the hack squat. During my warm ups I got the feeling it wasn’t 100%, however first set wasn’t too bad whereas the 2nd dropped off quite a bit. Alas, got it done and waddling around today as a result not that I base a workout’s effectiveness off of DOMs. Deep down though a little aching the next day lets me know job done, however I don’t despair as long as the logbook is going up. Anywho, session below:
Legs:
Hack Squat: 102.5kg x 24 [+2.5kg,+1rep], 112.5kg x 11 [+2.5kg,-6 rep]
Paused hammer strength leg press: 230kg x 22 reps [+1rep], 250kg x 12 [+1rep]
Lying ham db curl: 40kg x 23, 40 x 19
Lunge barbell: 92.5kg x 16 [+2.5kg] – reps each side
Single seated leg curl, RP set: 26.5kg x 19,11,8 [+0.5kg] each side
Banded hyper: Red band x 23 [+2reps]
Adductor, frog leg press: 255kg x 28 [+5kg, +1 reps], 280kg x 20 [+10kg], 300kg x 14 [+10kg,+2rep]
Back supported leg raise: 8kg x 18 [+2kg,-1rep], 8kg x 16 [+2kg,-1 reps]
Seated calve raise, DC set: 35kg x 12 [+1.25kg]Instagram: samking104

One must define what is classified as a biscuit. Some may consider a Penguin a biscuit, whereas some purists believe that only digestives, custard creams and the like can be labelled a biscuit. I’m pretty sure this debate was had previously and I remember it got messy ???? on the edge of my seat waiting on Jordan’s response ????

So another year in the bag with plenty of memories and experiences made, both inside and outside of bodybuilding which I am eternally grateful for. I learned how more I can do and how capable I am, something that is still ongoing for sure with much more in the pipeline. Still contemplating my goals for this year, but one thing’s for sure – it won’t be gracing a bodybuilding stage.
Last session of the year below and it was a cracker. Due to the gym opening hours and work, I trained in the evening so had more than one meal in my system. Definitely felt more beneficial and slightly more alert as wasn’t training at 6 in the morning. Absolutely love having the gym pretty much empty and training before work definitely sets you up for the day. Used to find I’d be at work, something would come up that meant I was required to work later and I’d get anxious as my routine was out of whack. Training at 5 obviously means more people and the rush hour crowd, which again makes me uneasy. Festive period’s out of the way so can get back into the routine properly.
Pull:
Lat activation: 1 set
Trap bar deadlift: 225kg x 12 [+7.5kg, -1rep], 245kg x 6 [+7.5kg, -1 rep], 195kg x 18 [+15kg,-2rep]
Leg extension: 82.5kg x 20 [+2.5kg]
Incline db shrug: 30kg x 30
Single arm hammer strength pulldown: 50kg x 11 [+5kg, -3reps], 50kg x 10 [+0.5rep]
T-bar row: 83.75kg x 11 [+1.25kg], 83.75kg x 9 [+1.25kg]
Wide grip pulldown: 11 plates x 22 [+1reps]
Reverse cable flye: 3 sets with 3 plates – 20,18,16
Single arm curl: 6plates x 12, 6plates x 10, 6plates x 9
Standing calve raise: 105kg x 14 [+4kg,-1rep], 105kg x 12 [+4kg, -2rep], 105kg x 11 [+4kg, -2rep]Trap bar deadlifts are absolutely flying up and never thought I’d be handling the weights that I am currently. Technically the lifts I’ve recorded are calculating the bar as 35kg whereas I’ve been told it is 42kg, meaning the above lifts are technically 7kg more than recorded. However, can’t get away from recording it as 35kg. Nonetheless, the weight is increasing every time for now and I’ll take that. Felt absolutely mashed after those three sets and long into the evening after the session.
Big ol’ leg session tomorrow and a date with the hack squat. Wonder who will be who’s bitch?

maybe i shouldn’t have asked….. we have KING of creative writing in the houseee haha
only kidding…thank you for the answers!
whats the use of the beanbag toy? and HOW COME YOU GET 2 CHRISTMAS DAYS?!
roast in a sandwich can never be wrong…did you have bread sauce in it though? what about stuffing too?
more importantly, who was the Malteser theft? will they be invited to Christmas again?!
and i agree, it is defo a rarity to be all together, so that in itself is lovelyMY ANSWERS:
– Most overrated Christmas film ever – The holiday….im just not into that one
– You aren’t given any socks or underwear for Christmas – how do you react? – underwear isn’t a common one for me, but i do get ALOT of socks…i would be confused and would ensure to IG story more sock posts to avoid the error for the next Christmas
– Do you have a Christmas Eve tradition and if so, what is it – LOTS but to name one, i always watch ‘On Christmas Eve’ by Peter Collington
– How do you approach presents – are they handed out individually with all eyes on that one person unwrapping, is it a free for all or does everyone open a gift at the same. Also, who’s in charge of handing the gifts out… after Santa has delegated of course. – usually one person will be by the presents and hand them out one at a time…mixing up the order as we goExactly, need to get some use out of my first degree that I’m still paying for.
Still trying to work out the beanbag toy. I’ll include a picture on next check in and you can decide. Another weird present I unwrapped today was 2kg of fudge. 450 calories per 100g, pure dirty bulk. I think I mentioned previously to the gift giver that I don’t mind a bit of fudge, but I like the obscure and gourmet flavours in a small bite size chunk. No idea what I’m going to do with it.
Well, my thinking is if one Christmas day is good why not two? Nah, Maxine goes back to Landan for the hols and I stay in Poole so we have our Christmas when she comes back. I work through the Christmas period so makes sense for her to catch up with friends and family in her hometown. Plus, I get maximum alone time – lovely jubbly. Don’t understand how people are always in each other’s pockets. Think some time apart is nice to make you appreciate what you have and allow you to miss that person, re-establishing that connection. Sorry if I have caused you to lose your lunch, got a bit mushy there.
No bread sauce in the sandwich, but literally had an entire roast dinner in a sandwich – meat, veggies, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, pigs in blankets and roasties accompanied by a dipping bowl of gravy.
I have my suspicions who the thief may be, however the jury is currently still out. Can you imagine my horror when in my head there were at least two Maltesers left so when I opened the box and there was nothing… Sorry, I’ll stop there as I can’t relive that moment again. The first time was painful enough.
I’ve never seen The Holiday – just seems like a knock off of Love Actually, which is a good film. Only saw it for the first time last year.
Haha you do like your socks, that’s a given. Can imagine Jordan’s face if he got given socks… unless he enjoys wearing with flip flops.
On Christmas Eve? I have never heard of that one. I’ll be sure to have a look.
Always find gift giving starts off with one at a time, each present being unwrapped and scrutinised thoroughly, taking in every detail and showing everyone in the room. Quite quickly ends up being a mad dash to get through them as patience wears thin haha.

Christmas day 2.0 has been great so far, spoilt rotten and just waiting on the roast. Been an absolute corker of a day and all while sticking to my macros of course. One of my gifts was a massive pamper hamper – bath bombs, face masks, booties and other goodies. Bloody love a pamper session. When it comes to maintaining appearance I have never been the sort to style my hair or shape my beard if I have one, however a spa relaxation is my idea of heaven and anyone who claims otherwise is deluding themselves. Also got a new copy of Arnold’s Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding. Read my original copy it from cover to cover and unfortunately some of the pages had come away from the binding. Sure, some of the theories in terms of volume and training sessions would cripple most people it is still an entertaining and informative read. Helps that some of the best physiques ever adorn each and every page – back when women wanted them and men wanted to be them. Could go on and on about the golden years of bodybuilding so will leave it there.
Body feels like it is in pieces already and the DOMs is very much real haha. I think I’m always suffering from it, but you find you just get used to it and it isn’t until you have some time away you notice. Hex bar deadlifts tomorrow and debating whether a quarter of a ton is on the cards. Be a great way to wrap up 2019’s last session. Goals are being finalised and will write them up soon as want to be accountable. One thing to think it, another to see it in text and smash it outta the park. Whether they’re attained or not, there is plenty to be learnt.

Had the weirdest night of sleep last night so wasn’t expecting miracles today. Think it was a combination of things – trained later in the day so my body was still wired from the session. Not from any stims or anything, just from the session itself. The missus has been away for a week and a half back with her family, but she’s due back today so clearly I was too excited to sleep last night haha. Mind kept wandering from upcoming events to things that have happened over the last few weeks and all the way back to memories when I was ten years old. I’m all for a trip down memory lane, but the mind does like to pick the best times.
Anywho, push session today as follows:
Flat machine hammer press: 150kg x 6.5 [+10kg,-1.5rep], 135kg x 9.5 [+5kg,0.5rep]
High incline db press: 45kg x 4.5, 40kg x 8
Dip: 51.25kg x 8 [+1.25kg], 36.25kg x 13 [+1.25kg]
Standing cable flye: 8 plates + 0.25kg x 18, 8 plates +0.25kg x 15
Incline cuff raise: 6 plates +0.5kg x 12 [matched], 4 plates +0.5kg x 22 [+1rep]
Single underhand pushdown, DC set: 5 plates x 20,10,5 = 35 reps [+1plate, -5reps]
Single db preacher: 20kg x 16 [+2.5kg, -1rep], 20kg x 14 [+2.5kg, -1rep]
EZ curl: 40kg x 14
Decline crunch: 3 sets with 15kg – 23, 20 and 18Fab session, even with the less than ideal night of sleep prior. Flat hammer press is getting better and better, confidence is growing but as soon as I feel a niggle in the left shoulder with any pressing the set is over. Annoying but I’ve learned no point in pushing it over. Sets still progressing every week so clearly working. Actually did a set with the 45s on the high incline to get a feel for them. A massive pain in the ass to swing up from the floor into position, but train alone and don’t want to rely on a spot. Never got the knee kick up, have always done a seated clean and jerk to start the set. Dips have gone up again so happy days.
Today will be spent doing jobs and waiting on the OH to return. Then we’ll get the bits for our Xmas meal tomorrow. It’s a rest day tomorrow and have a set of macros for the day if I want to cook with the OH. Calories are lower throughout the day and then saved up for one meal. Looking forward to spending some quality time with her.
To anyone reading, have a good weekend.

Ooooo questions, it’s been a while so let’s get to it…
QUESTIONS…
weirdest gift (good or bad)
I have Xmas 2.0 tomorrow so based on the current crop I’d say a beanbag toy made by my aunt. Literally looks something from old school kids tv – think The Clangers, Parsley and the likes. Pretty weird, however it has a certain charm. Wish I was as creative as that. However, make up for lack of physical creativity with playing instruments which she can’t.best thing eaten (provide details to what and why)
Default answer would be the mother’s roast, however take it one step higher – my mother’s roast in a sandwich. Bought a small rye loaf, cut it in half and filled it with the leftovers including trimmings. This was in addition to the sit down meal aswell. Second best was the cheeseboard, soooooo good.drama of the day (if applicable)
Someone ate the last Malteser from the Celebration’s tin [can you call it a tin anymore] without going round the room and asking every individual if they wanted it. A severe cooling off period was required, almost ruined the day… Ummm, no dramas haha.favourite memory of the day
Spending some quality time with the family. Cheesy I know, but sooo true. Don’t realise how rare it is have everyone in one location and makes you miss it.Some Xmas ones for you in return:
– Most overrated Christmas film ever
– You aren’t given any socks or underwear for Christmas – how do you react? I would be devastated
– Do you have a Christmas Eve tradition and if so, what is it
– How do you approach presents – are they handed out individually with all eyes on that one person unwrapping, is it a free for all or does everyone open a gift at the same. Also, who’s in charge of handing the gifts out… after Santa has delegated of course.Instagram: samking104

Like all the cool kids, I’m choosing to update my log on a Friday night. What a bloody amazing session that was. After five days off, can be a hit or miss session upon returning however someone clearly had their pigs in blankets and mumma’s roast potatoes fuelling them. Leg session as follows:
Legs:
Leg press: 440kg x 13 [+10kg], 470kg x 7 [+20kg, – 2 reps]
Paused barbell squat: 142.5kg x 11 [+2.5kg, +2rep], 130kg x 14 [+2rep]
Seated leg curl: 55kg x 13 [+1.5kg, +1rep], 55kg x 11 [+4kg, -2rep]
Walking db lunge: 36kg dbs x 36 [+2kg]
Standing leg curl, RP set: 12 plates x 20,13,8 = 41 reps [+5rep]
Back extension: 20kg x 18 [+5kg,-2reps]
Adductors, frog leg press: 300kg x 14, 330kg x 8, 280kg x 21
Hanging leg raise: 6kg x 11 [+2kg,-3reps], 6kg x 9 [+2kg, -3reps]
Standing calve raise, DC set: 80kg x 10 [+5kg, -1rep]Always been a shocking squatter in comparison to my deadlift, however they are feeling on point at the mo. Some of the smoothest sets and with a pause in the hole, so easily the heaviest I’ve trained with the best connection. Over the years I have always squatted way below parallel, so while I gained approval from the A2G crowd my lower back was getting a fairly taxing workout as well. In addition, I’d lose the tightness coming out of the hole – almost akin to a deckchair folding. I’d get a few good weeks of squatting and then my back would tweak. Shelf the movement, injury clears up, back to squat, work back up again, twang and the cycle continues so clearly something was up. Being as stubborn as I am, I couldn’t give up squats so broke it down and examined what was contributing to my lack of progress with the movement, along with the consistent tweaks. Since recording the movement, I have slowly retaught my body where parallel is and that took quite a while. Also, bracing is a lot better and makes a massive difference.
Leg press is absolutely flying up at the mo and other movements are progressing nicely. Going to get to a point soon where I may look to adding bands to add a different kind of tension, but not until the machine is well and truly stacked first.
Push session tomorrow and eyeing up the 45kg dbs for OH press. Will he pussy out or actually stop being a little bitch? Tune in to find out.
Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas however you decided to spend it.
