Gosh damn, looking thick from the side buddy and cals are creeping up quickly! Won’t be long until you wish you were dieting again haha.

I see you have oats and eggs for breakfast – have you thought about combining them? 😉

Log’s shaping up nicely so far matey. I go window shopping all the time. Sometimes nice to browse the supermarkets and go ‘oooooo, that looks nice’ then never buy it. Satisfies the itch in a weird sort of way haha.

What an incredible experience mate. So much respect for those who laid the foundations of the sport we love and how much you can accomplish with so little – just food, balls to the wall training intensity and being consistent. Very easily lost in this day and age, but it is quite humbling to see what can be accomplished if you are determined and resourceful enough. No intra workout here either… well, some had whole milk sometimes haha.

One of the main things about the historic bodybuilders is they were gentlemen through and through. Lee Haney, a devout family man, went to Disneyland after winning the Olympia I believe to treat his kids. There wasn’t this chip on the shoulder that the current climate has. Everyone was working towards a common goal – pursuing what they interpreted as the best physique and actively encouraging others to fulfil their potential as well.

Let’s see what you look like at 74 – hopefully have the pro card by then!

Hey buddy

Three weeks on and reverse diet appears to be going well, along with training. Regular sessions with the bosses – that’s some first class motivation right there I bet!

Now you’ve had a bit of time to reflect on this past year, what are you most happy about so far and on the flip reverse areas for improvement?

How is the other half getting on? Has it hit home she is a professional bodybuilder yet?

Right then, 6 days out and feeling good. Um, what? Should be at death’s door right. I’m dubious too, but very happy with the look so far and the bosslady seems happy… I think.

Weight this morning was 72.45kg, a new low – crazy! No changes to diet today, just having to pound down 6 litres of water. Finding it ok so far and not living in the bathroom just yet.

Today’s session was push and extremely happy. Session as follows:

Seated crucifix cable lateral: 2 x 12-15
High incline db press: 1 x 8-10, 1 x 10-12
Incline bb press: 1 x 12-15
Dip: 1 x 7-9, 1 x 10-12
Seated cable flye: 1 x 15
One arm pressdown, d handle: 1 x 15 each side
Seated db curl, one arm: 2 x 8-10
Abs – 3 sets

Seated cable crucifix to start. Managed a tasty extra 0.25kg each side and an extra rep each set – bosh. Don’t care what anyone says, cables and constant tension are king with delts.
High incline db press was bladdy amazing! Managed 40kg for 8 reps and 34kg for 12 reps. Extra rep on the first and matched weight/reps for the second. Literally had nothing else to give either set, however even though the second set was for the same reps it felt slightly easier. Progression is progression and people literally base on weights/reps, missing out on perceived exertion. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!
Incline bb press and managed 80kg for 12 so very happy. I swear the bar was bending throughout. Ok, it’s nothing mindblowing but I’m happy haha.
Dips next with 51.75kg coming along for the ride for 7 reps and 36.75kg for 13 – extra weights and reps all round. Also, my shoulder felt good.
Rounded off the session with the accessories and great connections all round. Final push session will be on Friday where I have to hold one rep in reserve. Um, what? I only train to failure! I’ll probably just use the repeat the same reps as the last rotation, unless I can sneak a sneaky rep in there. Won’t be playing hero though!

Rest day tomorrow and check first thing. Let’s see where we’re at!

Hope everyone has had a good day and is smashing out their goals, whatever phase you’re at!

I tryed eggwhites raw once got sits
So I always cook them in a pan but no i don’t use eggs for my eggwhites, I use the packed ones buddy would be too expensive to throw away all the egg yolks.
@kevinstutz Haha can imagine that wasn’t pleasant. That’s fair enough bud – find it cheaper to use whole eggs and divide. Does feel wasteful sometimes, maybe I should make some French toast or custard from them? Hmmm

Blimming love my eggs at the mo – used to hate the faff involved. However get an inspirational video on, say ‘anabolic kitchen’ and makes it bearable haha.

Hey Sam just found your log, all the best for the final week ! keep us up to date =)

Thanks Lara – just my inner ramblings and me talking to myself haha. Aside from transitioning a train of thoughts and making sense of it, makes a nice keepsake as well as feedback for the future. Very hungry to improve, however first we take the stage by storm!

Thanks for dropping by 🙂

Heeerrreee we go – 1 week today, this is it!

Final leg session done and hit some great sets. As follows:

Seated ham curl: 2 x 10-12
Leg press: 1 x 10-12, 1 x 8-10
Sissy squat: 1 x 20
Lying leg curl: 1 x 20
Glute bridge: 1 x 8-12
Adductor (frog leg press): 1 x 12-15
Hanging leg raise: 2 x max BW
Standing calve raise: 3 x 10-12

Seated ham curls were hard today but connection was fantastic throughout and was just picturing tensing them in the side shots, picturing them hanging on the floor.
Leg press started off shaky during warm ups, however managed a lovely 370kg for 12 and 390kg for 8. Very, very happy and again could feel every fibre firing throughout.
Sissy squat is where it went a bit iffy. On my third rep I felt the smith machine start to tip backwards, just managed to rack it before the thing flipped over. The machine isn’t bolted to the ground and with the stiff bar movement, not a good combination. The machine relies on racked weights to keep it pinned to the ground. Being leg day for everyone it was bare. That really peeved me off, so quickly set up the same exercise but on the squat rack. Much smoother, much better – no threat of death. That smith machine definitely wants to kill me.
Lying ham curl managed a great set and again, the connection was exceptional so very happy.
Glute bridge felt pretty and one set was all I need, that was hard enough.
Frog leg press felt disgusting and waddled away satisfied with pumped adductors.
Final bits of the workout felt good and doing calve raises in socks is definitely feeling better.

Rest of today will be spent relaxing with the OH and doing little jobs, plus looking through the plan for this coming week. Can’t believe today was my last leg session before show day. Very happy with the look and can’t wait to see them once the inflammation + water has subsided.

Hope everyone is having a marvellous weekend 🙂

1 week and 1 day – what the actual feck!?

Today is feeling very, very real and had a lovely morning of bodybuilding activity so far. Had some good quality time with the wife to be when she shaved me and boy, has she done a good job. Will finish off with a razor later today, but just shows how rubbish men are at shaving… or just me. Attempted it myself with a razor a lil while back and managed to cut my shin open. People kept asking me had I been going hard on deadlifts, ummmmm yeah sure.

Received my NPA membership this morning along with my fanclub’s venue tickets. Also, been notified my trunks will be out today. Have been really panicking as obviously so close to show date and haven’t had any updates. Much more relaxed now 🙂 Everything is coming together nicely.

Rest of today will be jobs, jobs, jobs. On the list is new bed linen for next week, but planning on treating ourselves to the new bedding and taking the old lot with us chucking it away after. Searching for some good coffee as well because I know actually enjoy it. Don’t know what has happened, but it has in literally the last few days. Any recommendations? Mixed in some 0 cal Skinny Syrup and it was simply delicious. On the post show treat list is ice-cream, specifically Oppo. I have a voucher for £2 off and Sainsbury’s are currently selling for £3, so a tub of low cal ice cream for £1 – foolish not to. Columbian chocolate hazelnut is on the radar currently! Also need some zero added sugar and salt ketchup as running low. Much prefer it now as like the vinegary tang and that’s how authentic ketchup should be. Just makes you realise how sugar is added to normal brands. Very exciting shopping list indeed.

Just going to get my steps in and enjoy this rest day where I can. Have been going through the archives and found a video by Sas ‘Mindset to getting peeled’ and it resonated with me in sooo many ways. Literally the extra spark to keep that fire burning strong.

Cheers Kevin – I drop into yours regularly, just lurking and reading mainly haha. Made your Anabolic kitchen oats the other day – egg whites, whole eggs and oats, absolutely beautiful. Was worried I’m get scrambled egg with clusters of oats. It was so smooth and actually felt indulgent. Keep those ideas coming my man!

Oh so nice to hear buddy I try to put out a lot of good and free content! The next video is coming tomorrow;)

Just watched the latest edition – looks good. Peanut butter and avocado, interesting combo. An acquired taste or unfound new favourite, who knows? Now, if only we knew the contents of you confidential fridge haha.

Out of interest, what whole eggs do you opt for? I’ve been experimenting with using free range golden yolk for my whole eggs, standard variety for egg whites. Remember reading/hearing that the accumulation of stress is concentrated in fat cells of animals, so in the case of eggs the yolk. In theory that would make a caged hen’s yolk less optimal than a free range As the egg white is fat free, then standard wouldn’t matter as much. Clearly too much time on my hands haha.

Let‘s say it like this I always buy the most expensive ones. Here in austria they have to put a quality number on the egg

so 0 is the best I think it is called BIO
1 is free range eggs
2 barn or cage free eggs
3 caged egg production

So I always opt for 0-1
Ahhh nice, yeah we have the same coding over here. So do you buy in 0-1 range for egg whites as well as whole eggs? I never got on with packaged egg whites, just do it the ol’ fashioned way. Crack on a quick vid and then split the egg whites out. Occasionally play Eye of the Tiger during egg white prep for extra motivation. Did raw eggs in the past – hardcore haha, but know way better than that now!

Boy howdy, what a week it has been so far – literally use up all of my energy in my training sessions and then I am spent for the remainder of the day, essentially a zombie. Hey ho, self inflicted and all that but needs must especially this close to the big day. Be more worried if I felt tip top. I have recently been craving coffee and I have always hated coffee aside from the odd pick me up double espresso. However, it’s a pleasant experience as I have bought a variety pack of Beanies brand 0 cal flavours – ginegerbread, cookie dough, amaretto, mint choc and cinnamon hazelnut just to name a few. Not too shabby at all. Am I maturing or is this just part of being an adult?….

Today’s push session as follows:

Lying cuff raise: 2 x 12-15
Incline hammer strength, delt focus: 1 x 7-9, 1 x 10-12
Low incline db press: 1 x 12-15
Close grip bench: 1 x 7-9, 1 x 10-12
Cable crossover: 1 x 12-15
One arm pressdown, rope: 1 x 12-15 a side
One arm db preacher: 2 x 8-12
Ab x 3 sets

Lying cuff was progressed with an extra 0.25kg and an extra rep, fan bloody tastic!
Incline hammer press went well – 0.5kg extra on each set, but lost a rep so swings and roundabouts. 143.5kg for 7 reps and 135.5kg for 10. Still happy with that.
Low incline db press and managed the 40kg dbs for 13 reps – again, lost a rep but the connection was there. Really wanted to at least match reps, so the dumbbells got called some anti-social names shortly after haha.
Close grip bench – 80.5kg for 8 reps and 70.5kg for 12. Great progression with extra weight and an extra rep over last time. Feels much better with the barbell than the worst smith in the world.
Rest of the session went well and really connected with the movements. Kept seeing new veins and striations popping out throughout – little things like that keep you going during the darker days of prep.

Check in tomorrow and photos done tonight. Will check in with bosslady in the morning and see what the plan is going forward.

I nearly fell out with that Hack Squat today!!

Sounds like everything’s on track!

Haha read that as ‘nearly fell out of the hack squat’ – intense set!

Indeed it is. Legit feel like a zombie this week. All of my energy is used up in training sessions and I sleepwalk the rest of the day. Still enjoying it though in a weird sort of way 🙂

Okey doke, not long until show now so starting to feel very real and even after 3 days of higher carbs, extremely tired. Yesterday was a rest day and boy, was I flagging – dragging my legs around, just not there mentally. Standard at this point though unfortunately.

Legs on the cards today and was a weird one. Sessions as follows:

Lying Ham curl: 1 x 7-9, 1 x10-12
Hack Squat: 2 x 10-12
Paused leg press: 1 x 20
Glute bridge: 1 x 8-12
Seated ham curl, one leg: 1 x 12-15
Adductor (frog stance leg press)
Hanging leg raise: 2 x max reps
Dual machine curl: 2 x 8-12
Seated calve raise: 3 x 10-12

Lying ham curl didn’t feel too bad, but noticed my hammies were aching a tad so bit weird. Both sets were progressed with an extra 0.5kg and extra rep. Good stuff.
Next up was the mutherfunkin hack squat from Dante’s Inferno – probably have never said this, but I bloody hate the Watson hack squat. First set was going fine and then suddenly ended up in the hole. Reset the machine and resumed my set. 2.5kg more than last time, but same reps. Got onto my 2nd set and after a couple of reps, machine bottomed out again. This time I dropped the weight by 20kg and managed to double my reps from my first set. I swear you get to a certain load with that machine and it craps out. Going to try different feet positions I think and depths rather than bottoming out after the comp.
Paused leg press is an absolute bitch, but I make it my bitch. Managed 322.5kg for 19 so 2.5kg more and an extra rep than last time. Absolutely horrendous and quads were dead.
Glute bridge went well with an extra kilo and rep progression. Seated ham curl was good as well with an extra rep than last time.
Frog stance on the leg press was really difficult. Always find that if I’ve done the leg press earlier and return to it for my adductors. Anyway, literally checked the log book and focused deep into the set. When I got two reps away, that was bronze place. Next rep was hard but silver was on the line. This was it, going for gold and smashed out a grinder. However, something hit me ‘what about the overall’ and with that I somehow mustered another supersonic slow rep.
Hanging leg raises and dual machine curl went well – not really exciting to list.
Seated calf raises to finish and as last time, did them without shoes and lightened the load to get on tiptoes. Bloody awful, but in a good way. Hobbled out a happy man and gave the hack squat the finger on the way out.

Back for push tomorrow, so nice early night tonight.
