Hi Oscar, looking so dense in your latest pics. Dense as in muscle wise haha. Reminiscent me of a mini Shaun Joseph-Tavernier or Roc Shabazz. Mini is in no way meant as derogatory. That photo comparison from years ago is crazy – you can see the potential and muscle bellies right away.
So early days with the RDL replacing the traditional deadlift, but how are you finding the adjustment so far? Started off at 5 plates already so very confident by the sounds of.
You seem to be enjoying this prep so far and are happy with the results. Guessing as it is your first bodybuilding show and having to show shrink wrapped with striated glutes is a completely different ballgame. Considering your progression over the last year, looking forward to seeing what the final product will be my man.

Alright Haider, how are you doing? Good to see your face cropping up in more and more videos. I can’t even fathom eating 20k worth of calories in one day – even half that would be a struggle. Remember reading an article on T-Nation where the diet outline order two XL pizzas and emptying out an entire bottle of olive oil over both. That was one meal. Another was an all you can eat Chinese and breakfast I believe was from Mcdonalds with added extras in the Mcmuffin. In theory this sounds awesome and I know Juan Morel was a big advocate of eating like this, but in reality you end up feeling like shite. Spend most of the time sitting there like a big fat anaconda that’s just had an antelope.
Sounds as though it was a good stag do. So tricky as a bodybuilder to just let your hair down, but sometimes you have to just live a bit. Those memories will stay long with you after you’ve hung up the lifting straps. What did you do for your own stag do?
Sooooo jealous looking at your food haha. Remember reading prior that your off-plan meals involve just cooking or making something at home like sandwiches. That’s what we first bonded over haha. Sometimes it’s just nice to have some normality and make a meal with the OH that you can both enjoy together. Don’t get me wrong – going out for food is nice as well and I’m already writing a list of places to go post show haha.

Here we go mate – can’t believe it’s the final week! Looking forward to seeing your daily updates in the big lead up. Good to catch up yesterday, but you wouldn’t know you were one week out as you could string together more than a few words and still shifting some good poundages. This will probably change by the end of the week mind haha. Not long to go until the carb up! Any ideas what these may consist of, maybe even a bagel? I have heard of people carbing up on potatoes, which would feel horrible I bet.

Happy Sunday All. Hope everyone has been having a good weekend so far. Been a busy one – had Ryan and Rachel’s wedding on Friday which was fantastic and it was great to see them both so happy. Mr and Mrs Petford at long last – very happy for them. Soooo many temptations such as Krispy Kreme donuts, candy floss, sweets table, bbq food and alcohol (don’t drink so not a problem there). The OH made sure to describe all the flavours for me so almost as good as eating it, minus the calories right? I’ll go with that to make myself feel better.
Saturday morning was a legs session with banded leg press and sissy smiths as the main compounds. After my iffy leg session earlier in the week, was determined to progress. Managed to whack on an extra 5kg and a rep compared to last time for the first set, second set was 5kg more and 3 extra reps so more than made up for it. Sissy squat was up by a kg and same reps. Managed to catch up with @clare barks – one week out and looking right on point. The mental focus she has is fantastic and you wouldn’t suspect she was a week out. Most people can barely string a sentence together when that close to a show. Great motivation as usual.
Saturday night saw me joining Puregym so cardio has been introduced on training days before the last meal of the day. They had a stepmill so naturally hopped on that bad boy. Remember seeing pics of Kai Greene in Flex with a broom handle across his shoulders. I chose to forgo as it’s blimming hard enough as is.
Cardio first thing this morning and wasn’t too bad as had several people to talk to while doing it. Makes it fly by when you have a chin wag. Don’t get me wrong – I’m a sweaty mess by the end of, actually around 1/4 of the way in but you should be able to hold a conversation unless you’re doing HIIT. Rest of today’s plans consist of getting out and about to get the steps in, while getting ready for the week ahead.
11 weeks today and I’ll be on that stage – scary shizz! Currently sitting at 80.5kg so clearly wasting away haha. Starting to get my first feelings of hunger between meals. Know that’s part of the process so will be filling up on green veggies, water and willpower.

Bloody hell, what has happened to May!? I mean the month, not politician. I’ll see myself out…
Anywho, just under twelve weeks out now so as of now these are the stats:
– currently sitting at 81.7kg. Weight’s coming off nicely.
– Deadlifts are currently out of rotation – chief’s orders
– cardio on rest days.
– Food – ten calories a day. Ok, a few more than that. To be fair food is still filing me up.
– Cravings – none. No deviations from the plan, no temptations.
– posing – daily. Will be looking at putting together a routine ASAP. Have 70 seconds which sounds like a lifetime!
– strength – increasing and/or holding on movements.
– being meticulous with routine for sleep. Overlooked before, but need rest more than ever.Mentally had my first week of doubt last week. However, everything is clicking again (yes, my joints are too) and the body is responding nicely. Realise it’s on a constant bell curve in terms of progression, never linear.
Physique wise – feathering is coming out on the quads and got compliments from Harry Harris on them, so definitely doing something right. Everything’s coming through elsewhere as well, happy with what I’m seeing so far but know there’s plenty more work to do.
Enough ramblings, hope everyone else’s training is going well.

If you find out the secret to slowing 2019, please let me know – every month is speeding by!
Uh-oh, can’t have you resorting to the archives of Corinne’s mind just yet. I feel there’s a section currently taped off and marked ‘do not cross’ that’s waiting to come out!
Ok, few questions for you then.
1) What to you constitutes and defines a strong person, both in body and mind? Who in your opinion would fit that mould?
2) How’s the baking business going? I feel we never hear enough about it. Obviously you have a lot of ventures, but know your true passion lies with creating indulgent bakes.
3) If you could inhabit the life of a fictional character for one day, who would you be and what you do?
4) Five songs make up the soundtrack of your life, what are they?
5) When you say next Thursday, do you mean the Thursday of this week or next week Thursday?

As long as you’re dressed up as a baby or woman and are handcuffed to a dwarf, that’s all that matters. Enjoy fella!

Alright bud – just had a catch up on your log and you’d barely even know you had hernia surgery recently. Everything’s going really well. Dare I say having a reset and rest did you some good? Obviously the surgery was necessary, but the extra rest (not exactly a holiday mind) must’ve helped your body. Still sticking to your guns and holding off to compete until next year?
Good luck with BP – is it your first time on a stand? Can imagine it’s a completely different experience – you actually have to talk and be nice haha. Echoing yours and Clare’s comments above, absolutely hate a routine being thrown. When I can’t control the variables for training, it puts me at unease. Some people love training in a packed gym with a buzzing atmosphere – nope, hate it.
Hey buddy. Thanks mate. Yeah I’m really happy with how I’m progressing and back training. Potentially yes mate ! It does seem that way.
No mate I’m competing this year! I’m growing now in hope I gain well which I feel I am and then hit prep around August for a show in November.
Thanks bud. No mate lol, I’ve been on stands since 2014 – I was with pharmafreak then 2015,2016, reflex and 2017 Yolo. So I’ve done my fair share of bodypower lol. In always enjoy interacting with people who follow my progress and take an interest. This year was my best so far being with the TrainedByJP team it was completely different. Such an awesome buzz. Yeah mate we got lucky with dinos gym it was busy but not too much and I actually got 2 very productive sessions in. Hope your well bud.
Ah sweet, knew you were hoping to this year but obviously was all dependent on recovery from your op. November sounds like a good window to shoot for – tad late for the UK circuit mind. Are there any shows then or are you thinking abroad?
A seasoned vet then at BP! Must be surreal putting faces to names, but also sharing that passion with other like minded individuals. Plus, it must be a source of inspiration coming away from it and realising how lucky you are. Heard very good things about Dinos – spit and sawdust kind of gym. Surprised you got on any equipment over BP weekend though. Yeah all’s good matey, just trudging along. Around the 13.5 week out mark now so starting to feel a tad more real.

How the hell is it four weeks out!? Time is going by ridiculously fast! Judging by the logbook and pictures, everything is going really well. Even the elbow pain is starting to improve – happy days.
Good to see you have some new content on the site. I particularly found the ‘mum bod’ video very useful. Pretty sure Ryan has plans for a crèche in the very near future – Primitive Paternity.
Have fun at BP – I’m sure it’ll be fuelled by caffeine and adrenaline, especially at four weeks out.

Right then, I’m done sulking after my last proper post didn’t upload so heeeerrrreee goes…
Currently sitting at 15.5 weeks out (107 days) and everything is progressing nicely. BW is still hanging around the 83kg mark but composition is always changing. Check in went well and instructions are to continue daily posing + vacuums. Food has been reduced but is still quite high. I’d be worried if we were on low calories this far out.
Last few sessions have really been on the money.
Saturday’s leg session went something like this:
– Banded hack squat – 105kg x 22 (102.5 x 22 last time), 120kg x 6
– Leg press – 427.5kg x 8 (425 x 9 last time)
– the usual isolation movesVery good session overall and legs were aching up until yesterday. Getting way more confident on the hack now and after going through the excuses in my head (it’s a motherfudging Watson so awkward as fack), I just get it done. The worst that’s going to happen is I get stuck at the bottom. Annoying but not dangerous. Leg press slightly down, however due to the overall intensity of the hack before I’m fine with that. Stick to this weight for the next session.
Pull session on Tues featured:
– Yates style deadlift – 205kg x 8 (200.5kg x 10), 187.5kg x 10 (185kg x 10 last time)
– Pullup 20kg x 10 reps, 15kg x 10 (2 sets with 20kg last time for 11 and 9)
– Hammer strength row – 105kg x 11 & 10 (103.5kg for the same last time)Absolutely made up. My legs were absolutely crushed from two days prior so getting into position was tricky. My final warm up was way harder than the first working set. Usually I gauge my body that day by the warm up sets, but I break that rule with deads. I remember Jordan saying the same sort of thing ‘your body doesn’t want to lift the weight and progress. You just to tell to f*ck off and get it done.’ No way did I think 8 was possible, but gave it a shot regardless and it paid off. Rest of the session was equally as productive.
Very happy with everything so far Anyway, I’ve rabbited on long enough. Hope everyone is smashing their goals!

Definitely fertile – feel like I’m getting pregnant just looking at you now!
Everything’s ticking along nicely matey, definitely starting to tighten up in the right areas. How’s the pec doing now? Is it on the same side as your shoulder niggle. Guessing Harry has had a good few sessions on it, but guessing you’ve increased curcumin and other anti-inflammatory supps?
Look forward to seeing the new footage bud. Sorry I was unavailable for posing that day and you had to ask an amateur like Calum to fill in.

Well, that was a pain in the ass! Wrote a lovely piece however the app decided to log me off once I submitted it… Will be sure to copy to the clipboard before posting in the future. Will update later as on the way to train now.

Really happy with Sunday’s deadlift session – smashed it, 200.5kg for 10 on my first working set. So that’s a 0.5kg increase and an additional rep over last time, chuffed! The rest of the session progressed nicely too, but this was the big focus.
Monday saw a push session with the heaviest smith in the world. Excuses aside, managed 97.5kg for 8 and 88kg for 10 – a rep progression on each set. Thought I’d give the 55s a whirl and managed a beastly 2 and a half reps haha. Not quite ready for them yet, but felt good to get a feel. They’re quite awkward and have these knobbly bits on each end so really dig into your thighs when setting up the movement. Backed off to 50kg for 6 so a rep down, however this was anticipated due to the set that preceded it. Final set was 45kg for 8.5 reps – matched last session’s set. I’m confident that if didn’t do the 55s then the other sets would’ve progressed fine. Final compound was dips with 52.5kg for 6. Again, a rep was lost but that’s cool as this is more fire for next session.
After a rest day yesterday, raring to go. Woke up in pieces yesterday morning and was aching all over, but fresh as a daisy today which is handy as it is legs today. Check in tomorrow and looking forward to seeing where we’re out at 17.5 weeks out. Still yonks away, but I’m sure it’ll creep up in no time.
