Ok, let’s try and post a couple of pics.

Nice work mate. Clearly the new supps are sitting well with you and you’re already incline pressing the 75s. Next, high incline press with them! Looks like conditioning is holding. Guessing your weight is still hovering around the same mark at the mo?
Noticed you’re still doing banded dips. Any reason why you haven’t progressed onto weighted dips or do you find this movement more beneficial?
Reading through the training section, noticed you talked about your beloved Watson Hack aka the tendon snapper. If you could choose any hack squat, what would you go for? Hell, what would be your top 5 pieces of equipment if you could get them and fit them in?

Thanks for the well wishes Haider. Nine years has absolutely flown by, but couldn’t picture them with anyone else – definitely my soulmate. Awww, aren’t I a sap.
Nice choices – added to the list. Let the education continue! My confession is I have never watched any of the Rocky films. Is there any testosterone folwing through my body!?
Yeah it was weird, wouldn’t let me attach photos as file size was too big. I’m not a techie, but I’m sure a JPEG isn’t too big for this site. Will try again, just for you Haider!

Both pop tarts and Krispy Creme donuts are overrated. Sorry to rock the boat as feel I’m in the minority. Same with Reeses – maybe if they did an almond butter version, could be a different story…. Not got too much of a sweet tooth mind, savory all the way!

No doubt the condition will be there. Going to be interesting to see what you’ll bring as last time, it was after a major push up in bodyweight.
Hip squat? Is that the hip belt squat? I’ve heard lots of good things about it – all on the legs, no lower back strain. Being a powerlifting gym, doubt they would’ve had a calf raise but you never know.
Yeah prep’s going well. Now at 26 weeks out as couldn’t do the earlier show, so a slight reset and adjustment in mental state. Looking forward to seeing what we can do with the extra time.
Did you have a nice home cooked meal or go out for your birthday?

The rest week did you some good then bud. Hate doing de-loads as find it hard to hold back and don’t find the motivation comes back. After a full week to recoup, you find the fire is well and truly back with the little niggles gone.
Now you’ve trained with lower volume, higher frequency for quite a while now do you prefer it to the old bro split and high volume? Or is there a part of you that misses doing 12-20 sets of chest, legs, back etc. once a week.
It’s funny – was reading some old Flex magazines the other day and although the routines/diets were absurd, they were far more entertaining than it is now. I used to get excited going to WH Smiths and picking up the latest issue or waiting for the subscription to arrive. Don’t know if it’s because I’m older and grumpier, but the magazines these days pale in comparison. Not sure if you’ve read M&F or Flex in recent years?
Last back session looks brutal. Do love a good db pullover – draped over the bench, lovely stretch. Remember there was an article where you would do 20 rep breathing squats and superset with pullovers to expand the ribcage. How are you finding the rdls in your back routine, compared to with legs?

Minus your elbow, everything’s going well then. Even enjoying rack pulls by the looks of it!
Happy Birthday for the other day. Guessing you didn’t get a new left arm?
Oooooo, the 16 week mark – exciting. Now you’ve got your JP stack, no stopping you.
Sounds like a good gym. Was it an open day to the public or just invite only? Hmmm, didn’t notice any calve work above. Nothing worse than driving with pumped calves – have a mind of their own and twitch like crazy, especially when using the clutch.

Oh no, how horrible!! Hope you’re alright now Corinne. When my sister and I were kids, she got locked in one of the loos and they were about to detach the carriages. Luckily we found her just before they did.
Sounds like Jay has earned his sausage and mash tonight! Any tears or visits to the loo with a pale face? Or is this confidential client to coach info 😉
Love seeing you and JP chiming in on each other’s logs – both so excited for each to succeed and bring their A-game, that’s love. Definitely going to be the best ever versions of you both!

Right then, training has been right on the mark over the last few sessions. In my last leg session, managed 145.5kg for 10 on the squat and 110kg for 12 on the sissy squat, so very happy with that. Push session today and managed 144kg for 8 on the incline hammer press, followed by 135kg for 11. On track for 150kg. Also managed 50kg for 7 on dips. Considering it was 41.25kg for 9 the last session, veeerrryy happy. Think I had 1000% test increase as there was a pole dancing class going on in the middle of the gym. The only gym in the area with scantily clad ladies in leotards and 75kg dumbbells. At certain points it was like ‘um, do I look as some of their feats are incredible’ but then then do I look like a perv if I catch an eye. Do I turn a blind eye and make it look like I’m trying not to look. Either scenario = perv hahaha. Think there were a lot of pbs around the gym this morning.
Training legs tomorrow which isn’t part of the split, however next Sunday is the interclub MMA event at my gym. Fascinating as it is to see the fights, space is very limited with all the spectators which is not conductive to a good leg session. That means reverse hack squats with bands and safety bar squats are on the menu. Looking for 225kg on the hack, can picture it now and what it’s going to feel like. Hint: like a brick shithouse, but can’t wait.
Outside of bodybuilding – I have been looking to book a getaway for the 9 year anniversary. Usually go away for a couple of nights, but our favourite thing when going away is hunting out the food places and eating out. Usually this means a couple of plan meals, but coupled with all of the NEAT a lot of the damage is offset. Know that’s not the point of off plan meals, but still good. Originally as my comp wasn’t that far off, my OH agreed to not go away (what a woman) and maybe just do a night away at a spa or something. As comp’s 26 weeks away, may reconsider.
Now and then realise how tough bodybuilding actually is, not just on ourselves but the effect it has on friends, family and partners. Many are very understanding and supporting so I’m lucky in that respect, but we don’t make it easy for them sometimes. This is especially true if they don’t train and/or compete. I like having that detachment though and keeping it separate.
Currently I’m educating the OH on good films. Last night was Seven, looking at Fight Club for the next. Feel free to post any suggestions – always welcome.
Hope everyone’s well and smashing their goals.

Riggghhhttt, logging fell slightly off the map but little update – training has been going really well with the exception of this week just gone. Just been very fatigued. Know you can’t be Superman every day and sometimes you have to accept you’re Clark Kent for now.
Really happy with current composition, however my show date has now been changed to August 18th so that’s the new target. Just over 26 weeks and counting. Sounds like a massive chunk of time, but no doubt it will creep up. Check in sent over so will see what The Boss has got.
Legs this morning and then a rest day tomorrow.
Finally saw Glass the other night (ended up with How to Train your Dragon 3 last week) and wasn’t overly impressed. Even during the ‘action’ sequences, it didn’t grab my attention – bit disappointed as really enjoyed Split and love a bit of James McAvoy.

How’s the push up going at the mo? Lucky boy getting to use a pendulum squat. From what I’ve seen, they look brutal and have a unique motion.

Push session on Saturday went plan – 143kg for 8 on the incline hammer and an extra 1.25kg on dips than last week. Very happy with that. Progressive overload is still a go. For the rest of the day, just did some chores and went bowling in the evening – when did it get so expensive!? Still a good night though.
Rest day yesterday was nice and chilled. All ready for legs today. Big boy movements today of reverse hack squat and safety bar squat. Managed 220kg last time for 9 on the hack, so 222.5kg it is today. Love this movement as I can really overload it. Always been ham dominant so suits me well. Looking forward to smashing out some pbs today.

Come on Jay, I want details – what was on the plate!? Also, what’s your opinion on Yorkshire puddings – only with beef or with any meat?
Shame about the illness, but looks like you’re on the up again. Always good to listen to the body.

Good man Louis – you’ve pretty much nailed it. Once the mind is set, the body is surely to follow.
As Corinne has said, establish a baseline and then decrease cals from there, nothing too aggressive, re-comp and then start to add some tissue. In terms of progressive overload, I’ve always aimed to progress on everything whether it’s the deadlift or something as simple as a db curl. I know some people like to focus all of their efforts on progressing certain movements and find it works for them, but my opinion is if you’re progressing on everything, then you can’t help but grow. On the flipside you could argue these other movements may detract from the exercises you’re particularly looking to progress on. I think as long as you train within your recovery capabilities and use micro plates, progression always seems infinite.
Believe me, there is no rush – you have plenty of time to pack on the tissue. Patience is definitely a virtue in this game.
