Glad you can accompany Corinne this time mate, now you’re not an illegal immigrant. Get the tissues ready as I am sure there will be tears when she steps on stage. 7 meals of 150g? She is going to look absolutely ridiculous. At least give the other girls a chance!
Hope you both enjoy the experience and of course, best of luck to Corinne. Then, it’s all about getting ready for Vegas next year ????

Yes Matt P.S. Brownie points on shedding tears over Lion King. I do love a tearjerker. Think of those jaw gains you got from holding back the tears ????
The missus and I made steak baguettes years ago with the recipe calling for horseradish. Never had it and assumed it was a light condiment. Low cals, great so slathered it over everything. I still remember the first bite now..

Finally some interesting content – all these contest updates were getting a bit boring ????
In all seriousness, well done for achieving what you have. I know how much that pro card means not only to you, but also Jordan (I know he cried when you won it). Just remember – if any doubt creeps in, you belong up ther just as much as anyone. WEll, in my opinion more than anyone else – biased ???? but for very good reason. Just remember to have fun up there and soak it all in, running shoulders with your idols will be very surreal. Best of luck Correan ????
    Anyway, answers would be:
    1) Aladdin all time fav. Robin Williams, nuff’ said. Not sure how Will Smith will be able to fill those genie slippers in the remake. Mulan is up there with the Lion King (that’s Mr Pig). Aside from classics, do love Big Hero 6

    2) Tricky, but for me it is the Christmas dinner sandwich. Literally everything I had for my main dinner, slapped between two slices of homemade bread. Usually with a side of dipping gravy. Last year my mum there the leftovers out while I was napping. Safe to say that Xmas 2017 didn’t happen in my eyes!

    3) Am I the only one who doesn’t enjoy indulgent coffee drinks? An indulgent treat would be hot chocolate with the full works – cream, flake, shavings, a slice of cake, the whole cake! Day to day a nice fruity tea or green tea hits the spot! If I am dragging myself, double espresso.

Good to hear that extra food is being put to use! Yeah it is a good movement – never really thought of it before, always learning! Might see you there then.
Nice. A lot of different techniques. I have heard of scraping and in theory it sounds like an effective method in breaking down scar tissue. In a sadistic way I love deep tissue, so satisfying.
Not too shabby. Currently working through a shoulder impingement so push movements are severely limited. Legs and pull sessions are going very well though. Have been dwelling on the negatives but learning to focus on all the positives too ????

Sounds like everything is ticking over nicely. Still enjoying the extra calories?
As you know, there is no adductor in Primitive so have the frog stance leg press a go. Very good shout Clare! My adductors hated me throughout the set, but they are a very good alternative.
Deep tissue is always one of those things. You try to use it to minimise scar tissue build-up and injury prevention, but usually it ends up being when you have injured something. Good to hear that you are on top of it. Variety of techniques eh? Do tell!

Oh hey Correan, see you lurking!

Some good answers Clare and very humble, one of the things I like about you. It sounds like everything has a good balance and although it can be a selfish/solitary sport, you have a great support network. JP doesn’t just just anyone will be pro and when he does, he invests everything into harnessing that potential.

You can never have enough delts, back or legs. Well, some ‘classic’ physiques I have seen can have too much legs ???? ah, if you want legs like Corinne then just pop around 150kg on the hack, banded of course, and rep out. Follow with 20 rep sets with 400kg on the leg press. Apply for a good 5-10 years ???? *still no guarantee you’ll have legs like Corinne, but they would be amazing still! I think with the absence of cardio, your legs will fill out in no time and obviously with the increased calories, no choice but to grow.

Going to be interesting to see what you can add over the coming months. When you are back to firing from all cylinders, we will have to get a sesh in.

    Hey Clare
Was good seeing you on Primitive today. This soon after your shows and still bringing the intensity. As I warned you earlier, banded hacks will burn those quads like nothing else. Look forward to hearing about the DOMS. Frog stance on the leg press looked like a great substitution if you don’t have an adductor. New diet is looking good and looks set to fuel the next stages of progress. Got a few questions for you:

    1. When you first began training, did you always have aspirations to earn your pro card or simply just enjoy the process of competing? On the back of that, how early did you realise your potential and legitimately going for the card?

    2. Being in a relationship is difficult enough with competing, but children brings about a different dynamic, namely dependency. Are your girls of an age where they understand the process and why mum can’t eat this or is feeling drained leading up a comp?

    3. Women competing can garner a mixed response. People appear to respect the work ethic however there can be negative comments, both online and in real life. How do you deal with negative comments whether they are intentional or not? A classic one is ‘good for you, but I wouldn’t want to look like that’. Almost a back handed compliment and starting with a positive opener is almost trying to detract from the negative. Obviously there can be spiteful comments too.

    4. What are your off season goals this time round?

Thanks Clare. P.S. Get ready for being called ‘Claire’. Corinne can attest to that!

Not related to your log, but massive fucking congratulations to Corinne. You must be absolutely thrilled – the pair of you! If she didn’t even peak or carb, you can not even fathom what is to come in two. So pleased for the pair and the amount you guys have contributed to bodybuilding, it is great to be rewarded and ‘show them’!

On another subject, how can I get 29 inch biceps? I wear a really small vest, post loads on Insta and train arms 6 days a week. Shall I increase my test to 20,000mg thrice a week? Also, what’s your current meal plan? I could look one post back, but can’t be arsed! Blah blah blah

169lb I’d say. 167 of those in your quads!

Sounds like you guys have had an amazing time and the icing on the cake was Luke getting his top 6 against some seasoned vets. Though we were all never in doubt!
Safe journey back and keep that lurgy you’ve picked up at Australian customs ☺

    Hi Louis

If there aren’t any ‘pegs’ to attach bands to, then you can loop them round each side of the machine’s frame. Unfortunately this can be machine dependent and will vary with regards to how to attach bands. For my model, I try a loop around the bottom part of the main frame, not the platform, and attach the other end to the weight part.

There should be plenty of videos available, but the most important thing is the tension. If you don’t feel the band providing resistance on the concentric phase, the band is too loose and you’ll need to adjust and perhaps double loop.

Like anything, practice. My advice – walk through the setup on a day you’re not training legs after finishing your workout. Then you won’t feel pressured when trying it and can take your time.

    Hey dude

Good to see you on here. Remember seeing you back in Majestic in the old days. Insane poundages back then too. Bournemouth born and bred too. Well, Poole but no-one knows it so easier to say Bournemouth haha.

Watched your vid and what you said resonated with me. It’s not the amount of exercises, poundages or intensity techniques that make a workout gut wrenching but the execution. Loads of people could copy your routine and barely break a sweat, however the knowledge of execution is absent and/or ego limits people.

In your experience, how many people do you witness that actually train hard? Don’t get me wrong, not everyone wants to train hard but when someone makes that statement and you see them texting or using poor form, their physique and demeanor reflect this.

Your body’s priority is fighting off the virus, rather than adding tissue. By training, you’re simply putting more demands unnecessarily on your body. Muscle doesn’t drop off as you’ve missed a few days and the rest will probably do you some good because let’s face it – most gym goers are in a state of being overtrained. Rest up, your body will thank you.

Primitive is my home turf so I am bias, but it does what it does well. Ryan has worked tirelessly to create a friendly, yet hardcore environment but maintaining an old school ethos which is reflective of his physique. Dumbbells are capped at 60kg, but with your slow eccentrics and pauses they should be enough… Maybe haha.
