Back to abbreviated full body workouts I think @thp

At age 40 I’m starting to struggle with ppl and 4 days a week training .

Unsure wether to keep frequency high and go 3 days full body or upper/lower

I never used to have this problem 10 years ago ????
This is the conundrum I’m faced with.

4 days per week maybe with less volume than my current P/P/L programme.

I’ve considered DC. Decisions
I’ve done dc in the past and loved it , the strength gains were great but I felt it needed a bit more volume to be ideal for Hypertrophy.
I keep thinking about giving it another go myself .

@acer @simonlees you can donate when blasting. your higher test lvls wont affect the one that will get your blood.

and also they test if your blood is good to donate. just say you dont use supps because they will ask. they will test it anyway. and then youll see your outcome. i was fully in blast. al my blood was good according to them.

if you say you are on steroids they wouldnt let you donate. but as i said. they will test it before putting it in someone else. so if your test lvls etc would be relevant they would test that to. but they dont. so all good. donate some blooodddzzz

Ok cool ???? I’ll get myself booked in . All users should be doing this regularly I would of thought .

Thanks for the reply.
I turned 40 last year and been training consistently since the age of 15 so I guess things change as you get older and I need to accept that and modify my training.
Even when I’ve had 12 months off training bicep in the past as soon as I return to it a few weeks later it starts again. Pull ups cause the same reaction too yet I can do rows , pull downs etc .

Sorry to jump on the thread but how does it work with blood donation if your on a cycle ?
I guess you have to be honest with what your taking ?
Will they still let you donate ?

I’m in a similar situation mate , just had my testosterone results back at 182 , so I’m starting trt too .
Like you I was unsure wether to do it through the doctors or by myself .
However my background is different to yours . I’m 40 years old and have been on cycles in the past so the natural thought for me is to medicate it myself with 150mg of test per week with bloods done regular .
As far as I know cyp once a week is fine .

I feel your pain , the last 4 months or so have been horrendous, tired all the time , achey and not wanting to train , feeling fed up and down .

Hope you get it sorted mate

I’ve not been the docs just done a blood test myself through youth revisited .
My results came back as low test 6.4 , so they think that might be related to my thyroid .
I’ve started trt and going to do bloods again in 6 weeks.
Just wondered if it’s worth self medicating with T3 at 25mcg ed

In the past Ive found a little of each helps . Few rest days , followed by a couple of weeks of reduced volume . Then slowly add volume back up .
I don’t like staying from training more than 4 days (unless ill) so 4 days full rest followed by 2 weeks reduced volume does the trick for me .

Great answers guys thanks .
Certain meds can effect hunger too , so I guess if I base my amount of calories off my performance in the gym then it’s pretty straight forward.
As long as my training plan is solid and consistent, sleep is good , then if I’m progressing lifts each week/month then keep food the same .
If not add a few cals around workout times .

I think the approach of adding in around 200 cals from carbs around training is a good place to start and re asses weight and body comp in a week then maybe another 200-250 or so if body weight isn’t increasing to quickly

Yes I think your right .
Thank you

There are days when I feel hungrier than on others especially when I’m working more (physically) or sometimes one day after a exhausting leg or back training than I increase carbs in one of my meals!

On ‘normal’ days I’m sticking to my plan !

I would recommend to check if your daily activities are similar, if your hydrated, enough sleep ?

Interesting you say that , as I’ve noticed following a heavy deadlift / back session , the next day all I want to do is eat and I never feel full !

Basically would you say it’s a bad thing feeling hungry when your trying to grow ? For growth to happen should you not feel hungry on any days ?
Or is a bit more self discipline needed ? And if the scales are rising and your still hungry just ignore it and continue until you stop gaining , then add food ?

I’ve recently been doing a mini cut and dropped around 5-6 kg .
My body composition is much better now probably around 14% bf which for 40 years old and low testosterone (just started trt) I’ll take.
So now I want to start adding some lean weight back on but without adding bodyfat. The problem is I’ve never had a problem eating enough food I often eat too much.
So I now track all my calories and have been at a maintenance of 3200 for a few weeks now which is holding me at 88kg.
So would you think it’s now time to up the calories to 3400 ? Extra 200 from carbs ? As I already eat around 280g protein and over 100g fats .
Thanks for your help

Receptor Chem mk677 was good , got all the usual sides , increased water (about 4lbs in a few days) mad hunger and better sleep.
I ran it for about 5 months was stacking just lgd with it and my strength gains were very good !
Receptor Chem seem to be legit company .
