Mark Felix was still competing to an elite level strongman in his late 40s/early 50s

You have one major benefit to starting now. The amount of quality information and support available is incredible! I really think you can make incredible progress if you learn and do things 100% from the start

Yeah as been said I think cyclic dextrin (the patented version as in JP Products)..

Is the only one worth going for IMO.

I know some people like karbolyn but the price is the same or more than cyclic dextrin and cluster/cyclic dextrin consistently works well for me.

Dextrose etc causes me to bloat and doesn’t give any noted performance benefits

I’ll look into the JP version when it comes out

Also heard of the mega high dosing that Brandon refers to, is there any real benefit or is it ‘more is always better’ thinking?

Thank you very much for the interaction on this

    I think it’s very variable

Ability to recover is determined by many factors other than whether natural

I think the best advice is to start or continue with low volume then increase if necessary

Thank you for all of the replies, very much appreciated

The reason for wanting to sort out deadlift technique is I wanted to get it right as a fundamental technique in this stage of my training.

Having said that RDL has been progressing nicely. I will consider my options

I always say it but the forum is a great community

Enter Sandman by Metallica has to be my favourite over the years

Do like most DMX/Tupac/Biggie though and have also had some of my best sessions with no music

Hi Corinne always enjoy reading your log.

How do you find the barbell good morning compared to SSB? I find the barbell much more challenging.

    Good luck with your prep

Yeah I think the amount of pressure it puts on the wrist is an issue for most people, me included (assuming a clean grip)

I do think they have an application for sports/athletic/strength training though

It’s enough volume if you absolutely kill it every set

If you half ass it, you probably need more
