Check your protein blends – my digestive issues caused by thickening agents; soluble fibres like ‘xanthan gum’ which serve no purpose other than to give the appearance of a ‘premium product’ that is ‘thick and creamy’…also swells up in your gut like gel and slows digestive transit. I think due to the popularity of shitty per4m protein every manufacturer has jumped on the thickener band wagon – literally every one that I have researched now has it and causes digestive issues. Note your shaker – previously it was possible to have a ‘watery’ shake, now no matter how much water you add it absorbs it and stays thick

In previous videos ‘how to program a push session’ and from athlete logs the general concept seemed to be a chest focused compound, delt focused compound, tricep focused compound the move on to more iso focused work – I could be wrong but that’s the way I have traditionally programmed it

I don’t like that mate to be honest
You will be compromising load SO much on a movement tht you should absolutely be driving strength progress (under standardised conditions). If you see barbell OHP as a risky movement, change it.
Don’t start compromising your fundamentals mate

I just see that many compounds negatively affecting my recovery; I just think for me personally it’s going to be overkill for my CNS considering the load requirements of all 3 of the other compound movements. Surely as you get stronger this is not possible? In all the athletes I have followed using JP training methods (the video workouts) they never seem to complete as much volume in terms of compounds as is in the ebook – I have taken this to mean as you get stronger, you may have to drop a compound to ensure recovery capability

So I’ve looked at the program on the ebook and it includes an additional compound which I wouldn’t normally do according to previous methodologies – 1 compound for chest, shoulders, triceps then move on to isolations for example. What are thoughts on making this last compound a 6 by 4; so using push 1 as an example, put barbell shoulder press last compound and make it a 6 by 4; that way you are reducing risk as it’s a potentially high risk exercise when you get very strong but also accumulating volume and ‘time under tension’

Never heard of this at all.
The idea of abusing beta blockers to stop you feeling like your having a heart attack from abusing insulin is beyond comprehension.
Just don’t use bloody insulin. It’s obv not for you buddy

Thanks for the telling off, I wouldn’t say 6iu pre workout only on 1-2 high days a week constitutes abuse, after only a few instances of insulin use EVER. Thanks though.

The reason I asked about Beta Blockers is because the study details 2 patient groups, one propanol one placebo, administered insulin, IV glucose; resting heart rate monitored. The placebo group showed marked increase in testing heart rate of around 30% so it is a thing obviously less noticeable when you are carrying less weight and thus lower resting heart rate – when you are a big chunky end of offseason fucker with high resting heart rate it’s more noticeable which is what I must be experiencing as well as caffeine sensitivity etc. I wasn’t suggesting that I take beta blockers I was confused as this is what the study seemed to suggest.

Cheers for this, it just fucking scared me to the point where I thought I had heart disease, lung disease, COPD, high blood pressure etc etc. Which obviously has been whizzing round my head making it worse to the point where one day I was smashing weight next day I was a nervous wreck. Just need to crack on I think

Just my penny’s worth – i have found over the years fluctuating hormone levels to be the biggest cause of acne, would it not be better to stabilise your levels (and put up with the acne as you transition between on and off) as much as possible rather than introduce this drug?

I personally found roaccutane to be by far the harshest drug I have ever taken (prescribed when younger after persisting with dermatologist), the sides are more unpleasant than the acne – dry nostrils (orifices in general) hypersensitivity to sun, back pain due to the toxicity of the drug (basically a vitamin a overdose).

Either way I would be careful and start off as low as you can.

Low body temperature (tested armpit temp on waking which is consistently below 36.6deg) vs before I was like a furnace constantly, brain fog, fat loss slowed – I understand nothing will be 100% fact without a blood test but I like to think I know my body

Appreciate the advice – so much bullshit out their it is often difficult to get a straight consistent answer. Have read ‘T3 is 4 times stronger so just take 4 x the amount of T4 etc.’ But looking at the science it doesn’t make sense so thought I would ask on here

Much appreciated! Didn’t realise leg press was such a common cause of back injury, will avoid loading my lower back for a month or two just to be on the safe side – although doctors and my IASTM guy both have said it’s most likely muscular as no spinal pain just that dull muscular ache and slight weakness so I’m guessing possible tear or strain. Aside from chest supported row what else wouldn’t put too much strain on the lower back whilst still giving that overall fullness feeling given my deads?

Quick one on this regarding curls – what are the benefits of 2x 15-20 reps vs lower reps more weight? Surely it would be better to have a heavy set followed by a back off if trying to build mass? Just asking as I am switching up my routine and copying yours with a few alterations as it looks pretty good!

Thanks Corrine, I suppose you make the judgement based on where you are going on holiday either full PCT before holiday or if possession is legal take them with. Would not like to end up on an episode of ‘banged up abroad’ for something as basic as steroids
