Look for whatever movement gives you most bang for your buck.
You can do whatever split you want just maybe do things that reduce wasted time. So do as many of the exercises ‘dual’ as opposed to single arm/leg movements. Use things like drop sets rather than 2/3 separate sets, or rest pause sets, muscle rounds etc.

Rest day today. Nice long day in the office. Getting a bit busier again which is nice. Struggle with motivation when work isn’t as busy. But making it happen now.
Tomorrow is check in day and training back and hams first thing ????????

Bit of a mixed session this morning. Delts and arms. First exercise (deadstop barbell shoulder press) strength was actually down. Next exercise (arnie press) first set reps were down by 1. But then rest of the session everything progressed.
Food has been increased so should hopefully pay off over next few days.

Always good catching up on this log. I’ve said it before but very relateable to me working long hours in finance but still trying to fit everything else that’s important in (family/gym)
Agree what you said about hard barbell work. It’s all I’ve got but it’s been great to get good at the basics. Don’t think we’ll ever get a time like this again to reset and be primed to grow when the gyms reopenYeah man it’s a strange time and hopefully one that will never be repeated BUT positives have been taken for sure, in and out of the gym. Doing the ‘hard’ movements will give you the most bang for your buck so to speak and that’s been proven over the years now. The basics have always worked and will continue to. For me the machines and fancy bits of kit we have now are to support the basic movements , not to replace which is what I feel has been happening of late.

If it’s ankle mobility you feel is the limiting factor then work on this. Training calfs first can have benefits but separate to that of mobility.

Decent legs and back session this morning. Few lifts stalled but I think this is down to calories not being high enough so made some changes which should see things progress still.
Decided to do squats with no belt this time. Was harder so will keep doing that. I’m sure there’s benefits to doing it, fuck knows what but it felt harder so must be having to work harder. Probably something to do with core working more.

Nice rest day today. Picked up a banging coconut flat white from Costa and headed over to a reservoir near mine for a walk this morning then back home to get food prep done. Watched some football in the evening with the parents and a tasty bit of homemade cherry cake. Decent day. To be honest most of the days are no different during this lockdown to how I’d normally spend them. I like a simple life.

Class chest session today with my mate Suki. He’s back in Derby during lockdown so my mate who owns the unit I’ve been training in said he was happy for me to train with someone else now so invited Suki down. We trained together when I first started getting into bodybuilding before he moved away from derby so was good to take it back to old days. Managed to progress all lifts and felt strong. Everything going in the right direction. I think I’m in a better place physique wise than I was when I stopped to be honest. Just shows what you can do when you apply yourself. No help or guidance from anyone so feeling proud.
