To be honest you’ll be surprised at how many people can’t skip and can’t skip for a long period. People opt for something a little easier that’ll be why. But skipping is certainly fun and if you enjoy it keep doing it. I did a lot back in boxing days and loved it.

MemberApril 20, 2020 at 12:35 pm in reply to: should having intra workout drink during cardio ?I would only potentially use BCAA when looking at intra drink for cardio for bodybuilding purposes as I would tend to be using the cardio session as a fat burning tool. However when I used to box and play rugby I would have an bcaa and carbs drink throughout that as an energy source.
From a bodybuilding point of view I personally don’t have anything during cardio other than sips of water and then I have my intra drink during training session – TrainedbyJP MPS Max and Sustain with 5g creatine.

Went for a walk this morning and then a cycle along the Thames from Putney to Chelsea Harbour. Nice to be out enjoying the sunshine. I’ve tried to get as much as possible as it definitely helps with feeling positive and energised.
Did a food shop after that. I’ve noticed it’s possible to get pretty much a normal shop now that the madness of the first couple weeks of lockdown has settled. I’ve had to switch a few of the food choices though, some down to availability and some down to cost since business has taken a hit with the mortgage lenders not able to lend due to valuers being unable to go to properties. So a few changes like beef or turkey instead of salmon and frozen white fish instead of fresh fish. Plus I’ve lowered calories somewhat with being completely off all anabolics. So all in all this has helped save around £50 a week.
The workout yesterday went as follows:
– DB lying ham curl on the floor 3×10-12 (dumbbell between feet)
– Squats – 3 x 15 normal, 15 wide, 15 narrow (holding the dumbbells )
– Walking lunges 3 x 20
– Squat jumps into pulses 3 x 10 with 3 pulses each rep
– single leg Lying ham curl using resistance band 3×10-12
-Single Leg ext using resistance band 3×12-15
– Abductors 3 x 15 with pause at the top
– Glute Bridge 3 x 15 with pause at the top
– standing Calf raises 3 x 20 with 60sec stretch at end of 3rd set
– Abs (sit ups) 4×15Be good to hear what others are doing and share ideas.

So last night I did the following session:
– Bodyweight press up 4 x 15
– Incline DB press 4 x 15
– DB arnie press 3 x failure
– DB Side raises 3 x 8-12
– Tricep dips using a chair 3 x 12-15
– Overhead single arm DB Tricep 3 x 10-12
– DB Single arm bicep curl 2 x 10-12
Abs – sit ups 4 x 15The dumbbells are adjustable ones and go up to 15kg but with the bit that screws on to keep weights in place and the bar itself I’d say it’s total weight is 22.5kg.
So to make it difficult I exaggerate the eccentric and concentric portion of the movements and really squeeze the contraction as hard as possible for a good 3 seconds. I’m finding I can take myself to failure using this approach and certainly feel I’ve had a good workout after. Will log numbers and try beat them each session.
This afternoon I did a lower body plus back session. Back is proving difficult to do so doing whatever I can to work it. I will post this workout too.
This morning I did an hours walk and some cycling, then tidied the flat. This evening I’m doing a quiz on Zoom with friends which will be good fun.

I’ve been following you for a year and always loved how you kept it real. When you went from insta and here I hoped all was ok. Tough times but I am sure you will come back stronger and now you are getting and feeling healthier again you can find your purpose again and move onto great things. Take care and stay safe
That’s really put a smile on my face, thank you!! I guess we all have tough times in life and some are better at dealing with it than others. I chose the wrong way, all be it my way, but I now have a better coping mechanism. Very fortunate to have the people around me I do and opening my eyes to it and reaching out to them has made me realise it even more. I do believe we all have a purpose in life and when we find that purpose it becomes a real strength to be the best we can be. Looking forward to being able to share more as I get back to it and hopefully it’s of some use to others

Thank you for sharing this Tim. It’s a very scary place to be in- and you feel at whits end and totally out of control when all of these things start piling up. I find myself doing it too. Just tying to “deal” with things that are going on in my life on my own, which never helps.
It’s lovely to hear that you have such a strong support system around you, and that you do indeed have many people who care about you and your well being. And seeing how much everyone on here cares too. It brings joy to my heart.
Glad to hear you’re doing better and I’m very sorry to hear about your uncles passing and I hope your mother is doing ok too._________________________________________

Hey Kate, thank you for those lovely words. It definitely is a scary place but I think it becomes a lot scarier when you force yourself to do it on your own. You don’t want to be a burden on others and don’t want to bring other people’s moods down, that’s how I got. So kept myself away from people. But luckily I had people who saw this and helped. Not everyone has that so I want to try help anyone feeling like that.
Will take time to get over losing him like any loss but I know talking about it is the right way now. And my mum seems to be responding well which I am very grateful for especially given the current circumstances when so many people are in a bad way. We just got to all be strong and support each other until we come out the other side
Keep fit and well

welcome back bro sorry for your loss but let’s all be strong together during these strange times and let’s get after what we are all chasing ????????????
Thank you Mark. Got a chance now to achieve things in his memory and make a difference to the lives of others, that’s my way of dealing with it. And I totally agree, let’s be the best we can be.

Thank you Jessy. It certainly can be challenging and never saw it affecting me like I did but in a way I’m glad to have gone through it so I can try help others where possible. It’s all part of growing and learning I believe.

Nice words Tim. Good to talk about this stuff. Wishing you all best
Thank you mate. And as I say anything that I can now do to spread the word and support others I’ll be doing. I definitely see the importance of talking about it now if not only to help those who are in the position I was.

So I thought I’d share what’s been going on over the last few months. I’m hoping what I’m about to share will help others in some way. Not really been one to open up and talk about things like this but I just felt if it can help one person who feels they’re in a similar position then it’s worth doing, especially in the current situation with this lockdown.
So back in December time I’d started to withdraw from a lot of things socially, not communicating with people I normally would, and just generally hiding away. I was struggling to get going in the mornings and lacking any real drive or motivation. In short I basically couldn’t be bothered to do anything day to day. I thought it would pass but it kept getting building. I was getting frustrated over the smallest things, losing my patience with people, not wanting to talk to anyone or see anyone. I came away completely from social media as I just wanted to disappear.
All of this came to a head at the end of January when I had some very unpleasant thoughts which I won’t go into detail about but I had got to the point where I couldn’t see any other way out. My partner had to stay up with me through the night because of the state I was in and then the next day i went straight to the doctors to explain what was going on. I got diagnosed with depression and was put on to medication and appointments were made to deal with it going forward.
It seems the reason it got to that point was due to me not dealing with issues that had built up over time which is what I’ve done my whole life. Rather than address problems and find solutions. My work was going through a bad patch where the business had dried up so no money was coming in which caused me to start getting into debt which I’ve never experienced before, I was going to have to sell my house and car amongst other things. I then found out in October that my Uncle who I was very close with had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease for which there is no cure. This is all whilst my mother was recovering from a major operation for a brain tumour which had come back again.
Due to my mother and Uncle being so ill I didn’t speak to anyone about what was happening with my business and finances as I felt it was insignificant. I didn’t speak to anyone around me about my mother and uncle as I wanted to pretend it wasn’t happening. And as a result it all got too much for me to deal with. I always thought I was tough enough to deal with anything and never really understood mental health and how that can affect you. If I’d spoken to people I very much doubt it would have got as bad as it did.
3 months on and I’m in a much better place. I spoke to family who were able to support financially whilst I got my business back up and running again, I started speaking to friends closest to me and socialising again, I got back into a routine of waking up earlier and eating properly again. And during this lockdown I’ve been training however I can and set a goal of turning my physique around and setting different targets each week. Sadly my uncle passed away on Sunday 5th April which hit me hard but I’ve made a promise not to let it knock me all the way down again and to be strong in his memory. I’ve spoken with family and friends each day since he passed which is definitely something I will always do now when there are tough times.
I have been fortunate enough to have some very good friends around me who have been absolute rocks. Jordan and Corinne made it very clear from the start that I would remain a TrainedbyJP athlete and to take the time to recover no matter how long it took which meant a lot as they know what being part of this means to me. And @louis-moylan who has been there every day no matter what. Very fortunate to have these good people.
For anyone right now going through a tough time, who’s feeling low, feeling alone, then please reach out to those around you. I can tell you 100% you will not be bothering them, or being a pain, or whatever else is stopping you. Your family and friends will support you. And if you know of anyone you think may need your help or support then let them know you are there, you might literally save a life.
I do hope everyone is keeping well especially with what is going on. There will be a light at the end of the tunnel so keep strong and look for the positives you can find in each day.
So speaking of positive things, @louis-moylan kindly dropped some dumbbells off for me the other day which I have been putting to use. I’ll be doing an upper body session which I will post on here. I’ve been making the workouts fun and mixing it up each week. With not having any access to a gym and no weights at all I’ve been having to get creative which has been a fun challenge. The dumbbells have spiced things up a bit more now.
Anyone who feels they want to talk based on what I’ve gone into detail about in this post please feel free to contact me as I am very much here to help.

You could try dropping the carbs out and just use eaas? Or try a different carb source? Which brand are you using?
I wouldn’t have it post workout as could cause the same issue as it might be that particular carb source. After workout you could have protein powder and a banana then have a meal 60-90 mins after that.www.trainedbyjpclothing.com - The most anabolic clothing ever! |
