Pull session rotation 3 this morning. I forgot my Intra workout drink which is currently Sustain and MPS Max and damn it made a big difference. Was able to match weight and reps from last time I hit this session but just felt drained very quickly. Felt empty from 3rd exercise in and the only thing different was not having the Intra drink. Shows the importance of staying fuelled and hydrated throughout the sessions.

Rest of the day was then spent in the office. Nice and busy mortgage wise so hopefully this continues for the rest of the year. Chilled this evening and getting ready for push session tomorrow morning ????

I think when discussing taking a set to failure the natural vs assisted athlete has no relevance as what you are referring to is the ability to mentally take yourself to your absolute limits. This will be determined by mindset, physical health (carrying or working around injuries), training system being used, whether you train on your own or with a partner etc.

I think when discussing natural vs assisted then it would be more to do with recovery capabilities, building tissue, cutting fat without sacrificing tissue built, increasing strength etc. These would be the differences.

Really fun rest day today and spent it making the most of the sunshine. Trip to a place called Carsington Water which is a big reservoir you can bike around and take boats/canoes/kayaks out onto the water. Got a boat out and had an hour paddling around and then a coffee after. Heading to see the parents for rest of the afternoon and then prepped food for next few days in the evening. Ready to hit the rest of the week hard back in the office.

Yesterday leg session got nailed, so pleased with how it went. Another PB hit too. Was legs rotation 3.

Worked up to 280kg plus band on the hammer strength v squat and hit 8 reps (8-10 was the target). All other lifts have progressed and I’m now at an all time best for strength. Every week the weight is going up too.

Will rest today, enjoy the sunshine and then get ready to make the most of the rest of the week ????

Yesterday was a well timed rest day which coincided with a weekend up in Manchester. Had a great couple of days and got chance to fit in a quick catch up with Oscar which was nice.

Training legs today so got some numbers to beat, and you know this is happening!!

I’m not as clued up as the super smart guys such as @drdeanstmart but I would say there is no issue and would mean can be pinned less. Whenever I come to end of a BLAST phase I’ll drop to test e only at a reduced dosage of around 250mg each week split into two doses (mon and thurs).

Great PUSH session rotation 3 this morning at Kuba’s incredible gym. Tried out some of the new prime kit. Insane amount of kit of the highest quality. And 2nd session using PREpare from JPnutrition range and DAMN the pump was next level. Not felt that pumped in a long while!!

Increased all movements, getting stronger and feeling great (minus the hernia or lymph node issue lol). Got a call from the docs today about this saying she has thought about it and I should head straight to emergency department as she has concerns, oops. Will head down Sunday morning, fingers crossed nothing major happens between now and then ????

Enjoying a couple of days up in Manchester and hopefully manage to meet up with JP and Oscar for a catch up ????

Definitely stick with PPL as Kuba says. Throw couple exercises for arms before leg session maybe a bicep movement with push session at end and a tricep movement with pull session at end. Adjust volume to allow for recovery so can hit hard each exercise.

So today was pull day rotation 2 but first thing was to get to the docs about this suspected hernia. Doc hasn’t ruled it out but thinks it could be the lymph nodes on that side as it’s exactly same area as a hernia would be but I wasn’t displaying all signs of hernia. Ultrasound has been booked in so will see. Sure it’s nothing major and it’s not stopping me training so full speed ahead ????????

Really good session today. Progressed to 60kg DBs for bent over dual arm rows which felt nice and controlled. All weights increased this session.

First session using PREpare and I was impressed. Really nice taste (pineapple) and none of that sour, chemical taste like a lot of pre workouts have. Sustained focus throughout, no spike and crash. Pump lasted all session and I felt very full for the whole session. A lot of pre workouts affect my appetite but this didn’t, I was ready for food after training which was nice. Definitely give this product a go!!

Push day tomorrow so heading to Ultraflex Rotherham again and then off to Manchester for the weekend.

I agree with both Matt’s on this one if you’re looking to do it competitively (MMA that is). However, purely for cardio then I think some of the training could be implemented if it makes cardio more enjoyable. It can help keep you flexible but as mass increases this could cause issues with mobility and then may not suit that particular type of cardio.

When you say you’re feeling ‘raw’ if this relates to your body feeling beat up and tired then the MMA May be too much output for the weight training to then be hit how you’re wanting to. Potentially increase cals or reduce MMA sessions to once a week. Alternatively try focus on just one and if you enjoy that give it a real push. If you enjoy both then continue.

Nice rest day today and a trip up to Manchester to watch my beloved Manchester City play Spurs in 2nd leg of Champs League quarter finals. Fingers crossed !!

Annoyingly though I think I have an inguinal hernia which isn’t cool. Off to docs tomorrow to have it checked but signs are all saying it is (the big lump sticking out being the main one lol ????).

As Matt says, slowly creep weight up until you reach a point where bodyfat starts to get out of range. At this point have a period of reducing calories to bring yourself back in range and then push up again. Repeat this for as long as you feel you need to before cutting down for a show.

Class session over at Ultraflex Rotherham. Legs were hit HARD. Almost had a blackout moment on leg press but just managed to press it up in time lol. Was rotation 2 today so see previous posts for the exercises in that session. Only thing I swapped was sissy squats for narrow stance leg press.

Had treatment from Aaron of Mofo Body Mechanics to sort an issue with pressing movements which hopefully can be resolved. He’s pinpointed the issue which is a start so hopefully few treatments and it’ll be good again. Definitely worth a visit, the guy is extremely knowledgeable and will actually look to sort the problem rather than keep you coming back for appointment after appointment which I’m convinced some do.

Rest day tomorrow, will certainly sleep well tonight !!

Potentially could be just that the session took a lot out of you and whilst in a deficit the effect on the body is greater and takes longer to recover vs being in a surplus. May be hydration too?

If you’ve recently dropped cals that could have an effect.

Also you say you trained day after legs…maybe try having a rest day after legs as it’s a very demanding session.

I’d push on through a few more sessions and if you’re feeling completely burnt out then yeah could be a sign you’re ready for that deload/rest.
