    So today was the day of the appointment with the consultant to see if I can resume upper body training 6 weeks after the operation on my arm. And we are BACK IN ACTION ???????? Consultant happy with everything and sees no reason why I can’t get back to normal training. Just what I wanted to hear.

    As a celebration I hit PULL rotation 3 session which went as follows:

    – high row machine 2×8-10
    – rack dead’s 2×8-10
    – cable lat pull down 2×10-12
    – chest supported row 2×10-12
    – prone rear delt DBs 3×10-12
    – single arm DB curls (quadruple dropset)
    – calf press 3×8-10

    Stretches done after back exercises were completed and after calf’s.

    Held back and eased in as 6 weeks of no training upper has me a bit rusty so didn’t want any injuries. Get the movements going smoothly again and work the weight back up in no time.

    Post workout meal just gone down and 1iu of GH taken. Just got hold of Pfizer pharma grade GH so will be interesting to switch to this and see if there’s a difference in feeling/look.

    Can’t say I’ve come across before. There’s a few decent labs knocking about but it’s a bit of a mix and match case these days. Test can be bang on from one lab but their primo may be underdosed or not even primo. Have a scroll through forums on here and see what guys are using and which seems to be most common as usually an indicator that it will be reliable else people would soon report if it’s no good or getting negative responses from using.

    Rest day again today. Tend to get all the weekend jobs done on a Sunday so can go into the new week organised. ‘Big shop’ done and all meals prepped. I’ll usually do 4 days worth on a Sunday and then 3 days worth Thursday so can just grab and go. Spent the rest of the afternoon watching some football and putting feet up.

    Went to donate blood for the first time this morning. My good friend Chris Swann is a big believer in doing this if anything just for the health benefits alone. The main benefit being the reduction in risk of heart disease and heart attacks. I will be doing this every few months going forward.

    The day I’ve been waiting for is finally here tomorrow. Get the all clear fingers crossed and begin hitting upper body again. Some serious work to be put in ????????????

    Rest day today. Town for a bit of clothes shopping and then over to Barnsley for a 30th birthday. Be getting cardio in on the dance floor ????????????

    Couple more days until upper body training can start again and it’s like waiting for Christmas Day. Getting very excited ????????????

    When I started off training and budget was tighter I used dextrose and got on fine with it. However after a long period of time using it I started to get a bit of a dodgy stomach. Switched it to cyclic dextrin and it sorted it. I then went back to dextrose after a few months and was fine again for a period of time. Just a heads up incase you get this same issue ????

    Training day today – legs rotation 1.

    Headed over to Ilkeston Gym owned by my friend and IFBB Pro Jamie Johal. The gyms about 20 minutes away and always a good atmosphere. Some really nice bits of kit in there too so if you’re looking for a change of scenery or a road trip then definitely worth visiting.

    The session went as follows:

    Lying leg curl 2×8-10

    Banded hack squat 2×8-10

    Leg press 2×8-10

    Leg extension 1×8-10

    GHR 1xfailure

    Standing ham curl 1×15

    Abductor 2×10-12

    Adductor rest pause 12/8/5

    Toe press 2×8-10

    The hack squat at the gym is one of the toughest I’ve used. With the 2 bands added it didn’t take much weight to be added before i was into my working set.

    Couple of rest days ahead and then Monday it’s the trip to the consultant to get the all clear to begin upper body all being well ????????

    To put it simply it will come down to what your body absorbs best so that you’re not going into the workout bloated and still needing to digest the food. I’ve done both protein and fats and protein and carbs pre workout and luckily both have worked for me however I’d say possibly prefer protein and fats if training first thing and protein and carbs if training later in day.

    Rest day again today. Busy last day of the month in the mortgage world then it all starts again tomorrow. Find it makes such a difference when you really enjoy what you do. Waking up each day hungry to get into the office and make the most of every opportunity and push yourself more ????

    Leg rotation 1 tomorrow so there’s some numbers to beat. Heading to Ilkeston Gym, home of the Giant Jamie Johal. Always a good session down there ????????

    So it’s another much needed rest day. Nailed myself in yesterday’s leg session. Got such a buzz from being surrounded by everyone and watching the intensity that everyone trains with. Can see why they all have the physiques they do ????????

    Off to Manchester again now but this time to watch Manchester City play. Been a supporter since I was a little kid before I get any ‘glory supporter’ comments. Watched enough terrible performances so very much enjoying seeing world class football now!!

    5 more days before hopefully getting the all clear to train upper, not that I’m counting ????

    Hey mate,

    That’s amazing to hear how you have taken control and are making incredible steps forward.

    To answer your question regarding rest you can try hitting the following:

    PUSH
    REST
    LEGS
    REST
    PULL
    REST

    Repeat this cycle with say 3 different rotations.

    Take a look at some of the early videos posted on here regarding training splits. You could potentially benefit from an upper/lower split and then switch back to PPL when you have progressed.
