More gardening work done for the parents today and washed the car. Was hoping we would get some sort of clarity in the announcement tonight but I guess we will find out more tomorrow about the details. Things need to start happening now as this has gone beyond just boredom and frustration, people are financially fucked and mentally it has taken its toll. We really need to stay strong together and just hope that there’s some actually guidance tomorrow.

Had a nice day today in the sunshine. Went over to my parents as their garden needed some work doing on it. Was nice to chat with them whilst working in the garden. Reminded me of being a kid when I used to do it at the weekends for my parents and grandparents. Something relaxing but also rewarding about it.
Chilled evening tonight watching a movie and some documentaries.

Very hard news to accept yesterday with the passing of Luke. I didn’t know Luke personally but you don’t have to know someone personally to understand the place they were in to need to leave like this. It’s brought back memories from very recently that I briefly discussed on here as I know the feeling to be at the point where you feel there are no other options or choices for you. All I can say is what I have said previously, try and reach out and talk. It may just be enough.

Weighed in and Trained yesterday. Weight was 234.6 which is up slightly from previous week but so is strength and body composition isn’t too bad all things considered. I did a chest and arms session and was able to progress all lifts. Going to drop food slightly just to keep bodyfat from creeping up.

I didn’t post yesterday as what I trained or did just didn’t seem to be something of importance when I came to post it. It was a time for Luke to be truly appreciated and for memories and stories to be shared of this much loved and respected man. RIP Luke the Legend.

Decent back and hams session in the bag. Lifts progressed. I did switch deadlifts out for tbar row though as was going to switch A-Frame deads to conventional dead’s but there aren’t enough plates for the weight needed to challenge me and there doesn’t seem to be a way to add bands either. So to save time messing about I’ve just gone for tbar row. Session went as follows:

    – pull ups 1×7-9, 1×11–12 (first set body weight, back off set banded)
    – Tbar row 1×9-10, 1×13-15
    – Meadows row rest pause 12/8/5
    – wide grip cable row 2×10-12
    – single leg ext 1×10-12 1×13-15
    – DB lying ham curl 2×10-12
    – band abductor rp 12/8/5
    – Standing calf raises 3×10-12
Will do weight fasted tomorrow morning and see how things are changing. I feel I may drop calories slightly as want to be in as good condition as possible for after lockdown so when I jump back on cycle I can make the most of the time without having to recomp as much.

Sessions are looking good …. the gyms won’t be reopen till September so you’ll be in crazy condition by then haha[/quote]
Either crazy condition or skin and bone ???? will be good to have a bit of a tidy up but more importantly just keep enjoying training as it is, getting creative. It just reminds me a bit of training back in early days when you just got in the gym, had fun and got a wicked pump.

When in full flow training wise I’d say only when you complete the rep range but there are times when let’s say you have been ill and have first session back doing legs, you may be weaker and manage 7 reps on leg press but the weight is considerably lower than what you are capable of, but as you train over the next week your strength will shoot up just through eating and being back training regularly and not being ill. So when you revisit that session you know you would easily hit the full rep range if you repeated the same weight so in that instance you could increase it so you are challenged more.

Delts and arms today. Session went as follows:

    – Deadstop Barbell press 1×8-10 1×11-12

    – DB Arnie press 1×8-10 1×13-15

    – low incline BB press 1×7-9 1×13-15

    – close grip BB press 1×8-10 1×13-15

    – DB side raises 2×10-12

    – DB rear delts 2×10-12

    – Dual arm curl variation – DB against wall 1×8-10, 1×12

    – Dual arm cable curl rest pause (aim for 12 first set)

    – Overhead extension triple drop

    – Abs 4×15

Everything progressed weight wise and with good execution. Happy with how it’s all going.

The band will be a great addition and will certainly enhance workouts. You’ll be able to create new exercise and add to exercises you’re already doing. Be fun to get creative with it.

Quality legs and back session this morning. Pushed the weight up slightly on all lifts. Due to time limit I had to switch a few exercises around in order to get the ‘main’ lifts in. Really enjoying the sessions and having fun trying some new exercises, different rep ranges. I’ll do my usual heavy set and back off for main lifts but then I’ll play around with rep ranges , intensity techniques etc on other movements later in the session. Seem to be responding well, strength is up, bodyweight going back up, body comp changing for the better.

Rest of day was spent working and then did the food shop. Really helps sticking to a plan throughout this. Doing it for yourself too requires real discipline as you don’t have anyone telling you what to have, and checking up on you to make sure you’ve been sticking to plan so you can at any moment slip. But the goal is greater, and if that’s in your head you’ll stay on track well. There will be things occur along the way that will test you and maybe you have to take yourself away for a bit, but as long as that goal always remains you’ll always come back and be straight to it as before.

Chilled day yesterday. Did some reading around a few topics I need to be more clued up on which will help when planning how training, diet and use of AAS will be set out when the gyms reopen. Having the spare time has helped in that respect, I’ve got round to doing things I said I needed to but just hadn’t made the time for.

Heading off to train legs and back shortly which is always a great session.

You’ll find there will be certain movements where some can move a lot of weight and some just can’t. But don’t worry about that. Focus on working the muscle and if that means you only have 1 plate a side on rows then that’s fine, the strength will come in time. But it may just be that you never become as strong as other people in certain movements but as long as you’re growing it doesn’t matter.

Good start to the weekend this morning, chest session in which all lifts were progressed. Just by simply returning to weight training lifts are progressing so it’s a nice place to be. Will keep things exactly as they are and just continue to get as much out of this period as I can. Once lockdown ends and we can get back in the gyms as normal I’ll start back on cycle. Just deciding what the best course will be. Training will be changed somewhat too, time to have a little experiment.
