That process , independent of how you normally feel, can feel incredibly overwhelming in terms of fatigue and motivation . So I would potentially wait to see how you feel on sertraline after a prolonged period back at a body fat level that has been void of any food focus, for at least a month . From being extremely lean and extremely food focused , that can take a month for that leave . Post comps it can take like 3 months to leave , and fatigue to level back off
Very true Jordan, this could definitely be another thing that is killing my motivation and not feeling myself. I have put my calories up since your advice and all of the athletes advice. It could be loads of fatigue built up like you said? Making me feel shitty. Can the actual body fat level you are holding make you feel these things? I haven’t had my body fat tested but I know I am very very lean. Probably 9% or under but I have no idea?? I’m just trying to put my finger on it? Maybe like you said I need to just spend a lot of time of higher food, less output and in a calorie surplus and add some body fat

Your just wasting time and suffering now for no reason. You got lean, job done . Get yourself out of this hole and Start growing before you binge again. ( 2nd time I have given you this advise ) …..
Thanks Jord! How many kcals would you add in?

There is huge variability in reactions to ssri and the like , so from my understanding it’s more about working with your Physician to get one that’s suitable for you . If sertraline isn’t working for you in all ways , don’t just accept that, force the drug to be changed 🙂
Thanks for your input JP! It does help me in terms of overall anxiety but I have experienced many side affects from taking the drugs, I was on citalopram before hand it was an awful experience and now sertraline (both SSRIS) sertraline I feel better much better but still many side affects from the drug

I’ve tried a ton and SSRI ruin training for me
I’ve started taking Effexor an snri it’s amazing. I highly recommend it
In what way did it ruin training for you bud I’m interested? I’m currently on sertraline and I have experienced exactly the same thing
Personally for me I’m on 200mg sertraline and notice no difference in my training mentality. In fact for me it makes me want to go more. Only issue I have is excessive sweating
Do you have any side affects such as feeling lethargic, sluggish, increased cravings/appetite, low libido, emotionless or anything like that mate? -

However, judging by some previous posts you’ve written, you seem fixated on staying lean and continuing to push yourself deeper into a deficit, after stating that your goal is to gain and build new muscle.
I’m sure all of the other coaches and Athlete’s will agree with me on here that you are MORE than ready to transition into a gaining phase now. There’s no need to waste any more time second guessing yourself. Get yourself out of this deficit and start focusing on growing.
You will inevitably gain bodyfat.. that’s part of the process of building new muscle and making improvements, so you’ll need to accept this and not be tempted to jump straight back into a cut when your condition begins to fade.
Yea Clare thankyou so much. Yes I really do struggle to let condition start to fade and I really do struggle seeing myself gain body fat. It’s definitely something I need to work on
