It depends on your current expenditure and diet prior to starting the cut, were you maintaining on that or gaining

You take what you have been doing, make initial adjustments to facilitate progress and then adjust accordingly from there

  • There was a time that I did, but it was a bandaid for a week core and ended up causing a hernia
Once I focused on core strength and learning how to properly brace and keep core tight during lifts a belt was no longer needed

How much volume are you doing per session? Do you have room to start tapering that back?

If you’re making progress on the current set up then keep it going, if you need to further push the diet then sure try removing the carbs

    Hey man.
You seem quite smart and sensible! I would say for your age and current body shape “dieting” is not necessary. Focus on healthy Whole Foods with a good balance of fats/carbs/protein and train hard and safe! Most importantly have fun

Great feedback and self assessment here.
In the past 4-5 weeks of this 16 week phase have you increased food or has it been the same as when you weren’t experiencing problems?

I see no issue in pulling back for a week to reset a bit, and then proceed with maintenance for a phase, and then into a get lean phase, and then back into a push up

It certainly wouldn’t build mine. It took 3 years of training only legs filled with hacks, squats, presses, lunges multiple times a week to see transformative growth.
So I guess that’s my argument lol

If you’ve only been training 3 months I don’t believe you know how to properly train to failure yet, that is a learned skill

Being that you’re a beginner, as Jordan has said you can start with the one set approach and master that, and overtime as you adapt you can add more

    Post some physique photos.

Are you progressing your lifts? Are you executing movements properly? Are you recovering? Are you in a calorie surplus?

Everyone has already nailed it here.

But if it’s something you want to try then go for it and see how you feel and how training progressions go

Everyone’s digestion is different. Try them both and see what feels best for you. I personally do rice and it’s 1.5 hrs before training and I have intra training carbs

I don’t know that one is better than the other unless you just like it better and it digests better
