It’s still a little early to present the signs of a muscle tear.

Some people show the signs of bruising slower than others. For instance I’ve recently ruptured my tricep tendon and I saw no bruising till day 3.

Keep an eye on it over the next couple of days. Keep blood flow to the area but avoid anything too strenuous. A proper diagnosis via a sports physio would be useful in making a rehab plan but if that is not an option then a slow return to lifting with small weight progressions using pain as your gauge is the best option.

I’m a fan of whey isolate and cream of rice post workout as far as carb intake goes. You always want to pick something easy to consume and digest.

Met with the surgeon today and got an MRI done. Didn’t get completely stuck in the MRI scanner which is a big win haha.

Tricep tendon is pretty much gone so I’ll be having it surgically reattached in two weeks time. From there the rehab time will be 12 weeks (same as my bicep from 2017)

Fortunately I have the UKs number 1 elbow surgeon operating and he is the same guy who did my bicep reattachment so I know he’s spot on.

Gotta make the most of having a bit of movement in my right arm as in two weeks time it goes in a sling for 2 weeks haha

I tend to have a large amount of my carbs from cream of rice and I don’t have any issues

Good lowerbody session today. Same exercises as Monday for now but I’ll be adding in some different variations to this session when I travel to another gym. Managed to progress every lift for loading.

    SSB squat 200x6x3
    SSB GMs x10,20
    Seated Leg Curl x10,20
    Leg Press x20,20
Uphill walking lunges x7,7 (per leg)

Managed to get a hyperbaric chamber sorted for the next 6 months as part of my recovery. It should speed the healing up a bit. Hopefully get it delivered in the next couple of weeks.

Nothing to report training wise today, cardio and lowerbody weights tomorrow

Hi Joe have you watched the videos in the educational section?

Jordan goes through the benefits of total body and PPL splits as well as how to set them up in his videos.

We’ll worth a watch as he explains everything.

From the vast majority of studies out there 3-5g daily gets people to peak concentrations within 30 days.

Most people shoot for 5g as a nice round number.

I’ve always just used 5g daily and my bodyweight is 330lbs. Seems to do the job for me.

Yep I agree with Rich. The split stance is a great option for the 45deg or pivot leg press. Try and keep the back leg passive in the movement – think of it as a supported single leg press.

Hack squat or smith squat with a heel wedge also great options as Rich said

In the gym for some contralateral upperbody work again today. Thought I would try some banded or DB flys and we’ll but any weight through the tendon is way too sore so sticking with the lateral raises only on the injured side.

    (Left arm only)

    SA Pulldown 4×6

    SA Seated DB Press 4×6

    SA Seated Row 4×6

    SA Chest Press 4×6

    SA DB Curl 4×6

    SA Pressdowns 4×6

    (Both arms)

    DB lateral raises 4×12

Awesome session today. Got in the barn before it got too hot and it paid off.

I have a nice long period of rebuilding my squat after a TFL tear and WSM got in the way of training it. Moving to squatting twice a week with the SSB while my tricep is limiting my training. Starting really light and building slowly.

    SSB Squat – 200 6×2
    SSB Goodmornings – x10,20
    Seated leg curl – x10,20
    Leg Press – 2×20
    Uphill walking lunges – 2×12/leg

Also saw the NHS ortho today to talk through what they do with the surgery. Still seeing the private surgeon on Friday and will go with him if he does operate.

    Right talking straps and chalk.

A base layer of liquid chalk will dry your hands out and keep gym owners happy as there’s no mess. Only use a small amount to dry your hands out – too much will actually cause some grip issues.

Figure if 8 straps are great as they pretty much make it impossible to drop the bar. This can also be an issue as if you pick up an injury and can’t drop the bar. If you were pulling max lifts I’d recommend them but anything over 4 reps I’d go for standard straps.

With standard straps I also like to put a little chalk on them to grip the bar. I also have a unique way of putting them on – you’ve inspired me to do a video on this so keep an eye on my IG this week.

As for which ones to buy I use the silverback Gymwear straps and figure of 8s. For transparency I am sponsored by them but I’ve put some serious poundage through them and had zero issues. If you do want a pair here’s a discount code: ABISH10

    Hope this helps mate.

    Hey Callum

Have a hard think about what you change going from prep to off season.

Do you add anything or take anything away drug-wise?

Is there a significant change in load to the exercises you lifted?

Have you experienced a significant bodyweight gain.

This is quite a specific issue so try and work out what changes for you prep to off season and we might be able to give a better guess at what’s going on.

    1) depends on how much you sweat and or how much intra you have. I usually go through 2 litres in a session.

    2) I drink mine through the session from start to finish, never really pay much attention to it really.
