From wearing the CPAP point of view my best advice is make sure you force yourself to wear it for the first couple of nights.
It will be uncomfortable and you might wake up early and think about taking it off but trust me if you wear it for the full night for the first couple of days it’s plain sailing after that.

Interesting day today on a photoshoot for an artistic project all to do with the power of movements.
Spent the day semi naked in studio covered in sand as I picked stuff up for photos and videos. Bit weird but the images and video they took were amazing.
Looking forward to a proper rest day tomorrow as they had me lifting circus DBs, atlas stones and doing arm over arm.

Busy morning sorting out a couple of things before getting down the farm for events training. Everything was pretty manageable load wise today and all the lifts went well. This really was a feeder session into the show next week, ensuring my body is ready for the coming events.
Circus DB – 100×5
Farmers walk – 145x30m
Atlas stones – 120/130/150/180 all one motions -
So if I’m in the camp of allowing for a small amount of thoracic rounding during deadlifts as long as the lumbar is locked in.
I would say however that it is easier to lock you thoracic spine in with an RDL than from the floor due to the elevated start position and you should always be shooting to keep it tight. Some rounding is ok but it’s not a license to get sloppy and go full snap back.
Ultimately if you are unable to maintain upper back tightness then you have a weakness in your upper back that needs addressing long term.
In summary – always attempt to keep your upper back braced but don’t sweat it too much if there is a small amount of rounding for the final reps of the set.

Lowerbody session this afternoon and managed to progress everything as planned. I can really feel the Anderson squats helping my deadlift.

Recovery work today. Got out for my morning walk with the dogs and some CWI done before bed.
Body was feeling it a little this morning but everything has loosened off as the day went on.
Ready for a morning lowerbody session tomorrow before some soft tissue work in the afternoon

I find neutral grip to be a much more shoulder friendly option when pressing for most people.
When looking to compare two machines it is important to remember that it is very individual. My advice would be to try it out for a couple of weeks and see how your body like it. You can feel which muscle it favours for you.
An example for you – I would have two of my rugby players perform a neutral grip DB bench press and one would recruit his pecs heavily while the other would predominantly recruit his triceps.
Everyone is different – give it a go for a significant period of time and see how it feels.

Shitty night’s sleep last night – think either the pollen got to my lungs a bit or I had a bit of a cold or something as my respiratory rate was significantly higher than usual.
Had to get my press session done today so I pulled on my big boy pants and had a greedy scoop of Dial In pre session. Great start to the session but I was definitely low on energy on the final sets. Strength and speed on the log press was spot on.

Banded Decline press
DB lateral Raise
DB front/lateral/rear raise
Bent over Pressdowns
Reverse grip Pressdowns. -
Limit the amount of sets you use straps on pull days. Try and save the straps for your true top sets.
Include some thick bar/fat grips work as well as some deadhangs (also good for shoulder health and mobility).

Another Monday and another deadlift session. Speed pulls today with 305Kg before another heavy week next Monday. Really feeling the benefits of my approach towards the max deadlift now. No suit today as we focused on bar speed off the floor. The bar was postponing up nicely.
Added in some atlas stone isometrics for my biceps again as I need to keep on top of that work especially as there are some heavy stone runs coming up.

Awesome day In Jersey today with my seminar at Strive gym. The gym is unreal. It’s a huge facility with all the facilities you’d expect at at National training centre… but it’s a public facility.
Had a good mix of amateur lifters and a few of the PTs from the gym which was great as we covered both practical lifting and some coaching stuff as well.
I really enjoyed coaching people this weekend which is of course one of my passions that I don’t do as much anymore now that I’m a full time strongman.
Managed to get some grip work in with the fat grips after the seminar and then a sauna session before I got my plane home.

I suspect you either have a pathology somewhere in there causing the pain or your technique is breaking down somewhere (or both!)
Is there anyway you can post up a couple of videos of you performing the RDLs so we can have a look?

Over in Jersey today for a school gym opening and coaching session before a seminar at a local gym tomorrow.
Really early start for me to get to the airport and then nearly missed my flight as security was packed at Gatwick.
It was definitely not fun trying to fold myself into an easy jet seat but had a great day talking to and coaching some school kids out here.

Another hot sweaty lower session in the barn today but some good progress made. I really feel these exercises are assisting in my deadlift which is the aim of the game.

In a good spot right now with everything. Confidence is feeling as high as my strength feels right now!
