Massive session for me today. Final heavy events session and it felt amazing, right up there with my peak strength. Fills me with confidence for Brits next week.
Shield Walk – 167kg for 60m (with more in the tank) Huge improvement on last week.
Speed Pulls – 220kg 6×2
Bag over Bar – 20/20/25/27 all flying over this week even in Gale force winds haha
Stones – 210kg to the high platform then a run of 120-180 all super fast and to higher platforms than usual.Look out for video clips over on my IG in the coming days – feeling like my peak is well on track for the show.

Yep I’ll post up and updated diet but I don’t change anything from the usual – can’t really add any more carbs at the moment haha.
I prefer not to change anything diet wise for competitions. The only time this might change is for WSM which is over several days.

Great following your prep for the British.
What are the events and weights at the show?
Thanks Markus
The events are:
200kg Shield Walk for distance
350kg Axle Deadlift for reps
155kg axle clean and press for reps
Sandbag over bar (4.5m bar and 6 bags from 18-28kg)
Atlas Stones 120-200kg -
Another standard recovery day for me today.
Morning walk with the dogs, make sure I get all my meals in, sauna session and finishing the evening with the hot tub before bed.
Very much Groundhog Day at the moment haha.

You’re really out of sync right now I think you’ll have to shift your bedtime back gradually over a short period and commit to a standard wake time and stick to it.
I do something similar when I’m travelling to compete abroad and looking to shift myself onto the local time. In the week leading up to departure I’ll shift my bedtime and wake time back or forward an hour each day until I’m on the desired time zone.
This approach could work for you to get you back on track IMO.
Once you’re there it’s exactly as Kuba said it’s all discipline ensuring you stick to your new sleep schedule.

Cracking session today. Felt super strong and had to resist the urge to ramp the weight above competition weights haha.
I feel like things are progressing nicely towards next weekend.
Axle clean and Press – 156×1 then 146×3 (easy work)
Seated Pin Press – 130×3 (plus 70kg band tension
Pressdowns – 4×6That was it as you can see I’m into my taper now where I’ll drop out the volume for the next 10 days leading up to the competition. Intensity stays the volume goes. This is different from a deload where the intensity would drop as I look to reduce fatigue while maintaining the neural aspect of high intensity training. Effectively I’m limiting muscle damage while maximising the neural stimulus.

Woke up with my body feeling pretty good today. Definitely adapting to the axle deadlifts now which is great.
Recovery day for me so morning walk, massage and sauna session today.
Feeling good for my press session tomorrow

Good pull session today, the axle deadlifts felt much improved from last week. Kept to the same reps as per plan.
Axle Deadlift 330×8
Leg Press 4×6
Back Extensions 4×6
Sandbag Carry 3x60mIt’s looking like my deadlift is back on track for comp day in 2 weeks time

Good session today. Trained this morning before the rugby started which was a bit earlier than usual but strength wasn’t affected. Hit all my reps at the correct loads.
All loads at 70% 1RM this week for 4×6 on each exercise:
CG Pulldown
SA Cable Row
High Incline DB CSR
Hammer strength chest press
DB Curls
Bent over cable Pressdowns -
Body feeling a little beat up today but nothing too major.
Spent some time in the hot tub this evening before bed.
Volume session tomorrow morning.

Smashed an awesome events session today. Needed it big time for some confidence and it delivered. Everything feeling easy and strength feels on point.
Shield walk – 3 runs total up to 50m
Axle Speed Pulls – I put these in for some technical work as well as adding some additional fatigue before the final two events.Bag toss – 2 clear runs with 18/20/20/25/27kg bags all over the 4.5m barrier.
Atlas stones – one motions up to 180kg then a lap and load single at 210kg. Finished off with a fast run of 120/130/150/180kg
2 weeks to go let’s see how this week goes.

A much needed recovery day today. Body is feeling the added volume on the axle press yesterday especially in my knees where some tendinitis seems to be rearing it’s ugly head again.
Walked this morning, had an extra nap in the day and got in the sauna for 25min.
Hopefully I’ll be feeling a bit fresher for my events session tomorrow

Great pressing session today with everything progressing nicely on the axle. Time to drop the log press out and focus on the axle as I taper towards Brits.
Axle clean and press – 156x3x1 and 135x1x4
Seated Pin Press – up to 120×3
Cable Pressdowns – 4×8
Leg Press – 3×20 -
Solid rest day today. Had a massage and had a great chat with my sports psychologist as we sorted some mental strategies for the lead up to Britain’s Strongest Man.
Feeling in a much better place after the session.
Finished off the evening with some contrast baths.

I felt like England didn’t threaten them at all either , I think we missed Faz and Manu a lot in that game to really get things going forward , if they had them I think Scotland would of struggled to contain them as easily. I think no Courtney aswell is always a hard one, he just works so fucking hard, and is a total pest , and adds that extra line out option aswell.
Hamish Watson is also a fucking beast! He went 14/14 tackles , and was just everywhere
Can’t argue with any of that.
I do question why Eddie feels the need to play a centre on the wing and a utility back in the centre though. Marchant would have added a greater attacking threat in the centre but England clearly had a pre-determined game plan of kicking the ball in behind Scotland so probably why he selected Daly at 13. Pretty negative tactics considering Eddie was going on about bringing in a new brand of English attacking rugby ?
