Rest day. Got in for some soft tissue work today and got my kit bag packed for the weekend.

Evening spent prepping some meals for the next couple of days. Excited to get the weekend going tomorrow

    152.3kg

Physio session this morning and body is looking good – travel didn’t mess me up at at really.

Then off to the farm for a single set of sandbag steeplechase with the 100kg bag. Felt fast, job done.

Spent the rest of the day getting my meals eaten. Three high days this week as I load for the show.

    Busy 24h+ for me.

Got my final press session done in the morning working up to 150 for a strict press and two push presses, felt really good. Then spent the afternoon walking around Bondi beach before we headed to the airport. Got some decent sleep in on the first leg to Dubai then a couple of hours stop over before we got the final flight back into Gatwick. In the car now on the way home.

Physio lined up for tomorrow as well as my final session with some light sandbag

Update: couldn’t get on the app yesterday but it was a rest day again yesterday. Plenty of steps done to stay active. Also got some soft tissue work done with a good therapist here.

Today was a super low volume deadlift session. 3 singles at 320 done once again at Base Gym with Seb. Felt really good. Just two more sessions to go now – one week out.

Rest day. Moved over to our hotel in the city centre.

A lot of walking and a lot of trying to stay hydrated.

I’m really not a city person but Sydney seems pretty cool.

Yep Meg is correct – SLDL for the block works. Use a block that allows you to have a braced neutral spine and stiff knees.

Using the side on camera will help in establishing the correct height to start from.

Can’t see the videos but if you are struggling to get in a suitable position to pull SLDLs from then yes you can either move to conventional or pull your SLDLs from an elevated position off blocks for a few weeks before gradually returning to the standard height off the floor once your body is able to lock in your lats, keep a neutral spine and have a suitable degree of knee bend. Film your sets from the side to keep a track of positional improvements

Couple of different gyms visited this morning.

Seb managed to find me a gym with some strongman kit to. Get my farmers walk done. Warrior gym which was awesome, proper cool gym with an insane amount of strength kit, a lot of it fabricated one off pieces. Did a couple of runs focused on speed then worked up to a double with 150 on a barbell push press.

Back in the car and headed over to Rhinos gym via an aggregate yard to buy some sand to fill up the Mirafit 125kg bag i brought with me. Got a single run done with 4x15m runs with a 30m sprint in the middle. Tough work, back pumped up real good.

Change of hotels tomorrow as we head into Sydney city centre for the next few days

In the gym tomorrow for some events training

Upper session today modified a couple of movements for kit availability. Volume dropping out on this session now. By next week it’s pretty much only one set on incline bench.

    Incline bench 180×6
    CG Pulldown 1 set
    DB Lateral raise 50 reps
Cable rear delt fly 50 reps

    Rest day

Body feeling ok, sleep still a little disjointed with some jet lag but should be back to normal tomorrow I think.

Got my steps done today and ready for a reduced volume upper session tomorrow

Deadlift session at Base Gym courtesy of Seb Oreb aka Australian strength coach today. Very much appreciate him taking the time out to meet up, train and generally talk all things training.

Into my taper now ready for the show in two weeks so volume gets dropped out. Still pulling in the suit as I get accustomed to it and how the suited pulls feel. Pulls felt great especially considering I’ve travelled and have a bit of jet lag.

    Deadlift 320x5x1
    Leg Press 4×6

I get deep tissue massage once per week.

Not a massive fan of regular dry needling but I can see how it can have a place if the individual responds well to it

Wow that was a long day! Left home on Thursday at 6am and now it’s gone 10pm Friday in Australia.

Journey was not too bad at all, easy transfer in Dubai and managed to sleep on the plane.

Going to get to sleep now as up in the morning for a deadlift session in Sydney
