Final prep day for WSM. Not much to do today, just some social media filming bits then time to rest and relax.
We found out our groups today which is pretty irrelevant really when you think about it – all you can do is your best on each event and see where you end up after 5 events.
It all kicks off tomorrow morning at 09:00 so I’m going to get an early night so I can wake up early and get moving before we head over to the venue.

NHS in the UK will take way too long.
I bought an APAP online and it adjusts itself in the night. Pretty idiot proof.

Busy couple of days – sorry for the lack of updates.
Had various media and meeting commitments as we film all the tv interviews and b roll for the show. Also had the athlete meeting last night going through the rules and had a play with the kit to get used to it.
Fortunately as my days have been packed I should have some down time tomorrow and be able to rest up for the comp which kicks off on Wednesday

Travel day down to Myrtle beach. Checked out the hotel in Boston and I’m currently sitting wait to check my bags at the airport.
Got plenty of waiting around to do as I don’t fly for another couple of hours but I’ll find somewhere to sit and eat. Flight is only 2hours so not too bad. Booked myself an aisle seat so hopefully I don’t ruin someone’s flight too much.

Final session before WSM done.
Finished up with speed pulls at 240×5, bar moving extremely well. Packed up my room as this is my last night in Boston before I fly down to Myrtle Beach tomorrow afternoon.

Very short but quality session at Titan Barbell today. Worked on my stone walks and sandbags.
Went up to comp weight on the plate loaded rings set up for 36m which is very good. Grip felt solid. Then did a half run of the steeplechase with 100/125/140 sandbags loaded over a yoke set at 10m. Felt easy and dynamic. That’s me pretty much done now training wise. I have some speed pulls to do on Friday and some yoke holds but that’s it. Nearly time to compete.

Physio this morning treating my Achilles and my tricep. Both felt a lot better after a little work. I’m back in the physio on Thursday to loosen off my hips and back before I travel.
In the gym for my final proper press session before WSM. Worked up to a top set on the Viking press followed by two back off sets really drilling the movement. Solid enough session. Back in tomorrow for some stone walk and sandbags

Rest day today. Achilles tendon is a little sore today after yesterday’s events which isn’t over unexpected. I’ve got some physio booked in for tomorrow to treat that and stay on top of my tricep.
Gone through my usual evening routine of chucking my steak mince and peppers in the slow cooker so I have it ready for the morning when I’ll whack the rice cooker on.

Road trip up to a gym in Connecticut today. Absolutely huge place. Separate rooms for bodybuilding, powerlifting, crossfit, strongman and MMA. Never seen anything like it.
Had a great session with the US guys in what was my last heavy events session before WSM.
Worked up to a fast yoke run with 385kg for 20m then blew a lung on the sandbag steeplechase. Super tough event but I’m getting through it ok. Definitely an event where you need to balance speed and pacing yourself so you don’t gas. Finished with some easy stone singles up to 182kg.
Everything felt great and I’m super happy. Day off tomorrow then back in for some deload Viking press on Tuesday.

Yeah I regularly eat a meal right before I go to bed and don’t have any issues with getting to sleep or sleep quality.

Still not fully over this cold but got to get some training done so back in the gym for my final heavy deadlift session.
Worked up to a full comp weight ladder run of 300-380. The bar was moving a little slower than usual but happy that I can pull all these reps even on a bad day.
Followed that up with some yoke holds to simulate the conans wheel then finished with some stone walks to prepare my thumbs. Don’t have access to proper stones for this so it really was a case of taking them for a walk just to get some weight into my thumbs.

Still getting over this cold with a terrible nights sleep.
Fortunately it was a rest day today and after a day of resting and eating I’m feeling a lot better.
Also found a clinic close by my hotel to get an IV done which was a bonus. Deadlift tomorrow so hopefully I’ll wake up feeling gtg

Change of plan today. Woke up full of a cold and with a bit of a fever. Probably picked up something while in the marathon crowds in Boston.
Not a major issue as I’d rather be sick now then in two weeks time at WSM.
Anyway rest day for me and getting an early night. Hopefully I can shake it off before Friday.

Moved into my hotel for the next 11 nights. Pretty basic but it has everything I need plus a newly build retail park next to it that has a recovery centre in it which is a bonus.
Got settled then off to the gym for some pressing. Worked up to a super easy 170kg axle clean and press then got some work done on the Viking press before finishing with dips.
Super tired now so I have my slow cooker going over night and I’m off to sleep.

Another rest day with little rest. Steps at 20k as I walked around Boston supporting my mrs running the marathon. Proper hot day aswell so it was a struggle keeping hydrated but we made it in the end.
