Proper sweaty press session in the barn today. Found out we have circus DB press at the Cardiff show in September so I’ve added in some technical work starting light before the following:
Strict Log Press 113×1 105x2x2
Log push press 131×1 123x2x2
Hammer Strength chest press 140×6 80×17 40×10-10-10
Cable Fly 40×10 30×20
Incline DB Press – triple set
Incline DB Curls 30×7 14×20
BB curl 60×8 40×15
Fat Gripz Hammer curl 3×12 -
No training today. Body feeling battered. Had massage and felt a bit better, did another food shop and walked the dogs as per usual.
It’s feeling warm tonight I think I’m going to struggle sleeping.
During the summer months please pray for your 300lbs+ friends.

Great legs session for me today over at physique warehouse. Legs are proper battered after that one.
SL Extension 105×8 77×18
Leg Press 700×10 500×20
Paused Narrow stance 500×10 400×20
Leg Extensions – some orrible drop set
Reverse hypers 3×12
Prone leg curl 90×10 70×20
SL curl 47.5×10 35×20
Standing calf raise 178×10 124×20One more pin down and I’ll be stacking the leg extension with a single leg which is proper meathead. Leg presses moved very well so confident I can keep that moving up in big jumps. Strength is increasing well with the increase in carbs and I’m feeling good.
Very welcome rest day tomorrow. Massage session booked in plus another food shop.

Your program should be specific and focused towards lifting the most possible on comp day.
This approach can be used for assistance work effectively BUT you have to get your taper correct going into the comp otherwise you’ll still be feeling some fatigue

Very long day for me today. I was booked for an appearance as part of a truck company’s world record attempt which was very cool but it took a lot longer than originally planned to get the whole rig weighed out for the record etc so getting home a bit later and training in the vending which I’m not used to.
Warming up I felt like shit but we solved the problem with intensity and aggression and I ended up having a great session progressing all my lifts.
Strict log press 95x5x2
Log press 103x5x2+1
Seated DB press 60×8 40×20
DB Lateral Raise 30×9 20×16
SA Lean Away lateral raise 17.5×8 12.5×12
Pressdowns 59×7 40×14
Gym Pin pressdown 22×10 13×17
Tricep triple set – 3×12/12/12
Bicep triple set – 3×12/12/12Obviously my whole day is pushed back a bit so I’m staying up a bit later to get my final meal in before bed.

Play around with it and go with one that works for you.
Also take a tape measure and once you have established and angle you like, measure the vertical arm so that you can keep some consistency in following weeks

145.7kg this morning so things are moving nicely. Energy is good and digestion is holding up to the extra food.
Events session today and felt great.
Sandbag toss – 20/20/25/27 for 2 runs then a double run of 8 throws which was great.
Hummer tyre deadlift – up to 500kg standing on a 1.5inch mat
Arm over arm – 3x15m
All in all a good training day. I’ve got an appearance to do tomorrow during the day so it will be an evening press session for me tomorrow

Isometrics daily can help here.
3x45sec holds with a slightly flexed knee on a leg press or leg extension is a good start.
If these pieces are not available daily get yourself a heavy or medium band and do a Spanish squat daily.
Beyond that anti inflammatory supplements such as join in and cure coming will help.
Also soft tissue work on the quads may elevate pain a little.

Body proper mashed today so very happy to have a rest day.
Got some food cooked and walked the dogs a couple of miles. Not much else to report.
We up the carbs another 50g tomorrow so I’ll add that to my last meal of the day meaning that all my meals have some carbs in them now. Yay.

Hi Jonathan
Good luck with the surgery first and foremost. As someone who’s had their fair few injuries and a couple of surgeries I really recommend focusing on recovering better rather than faster.
First and foremost invest your money in a good sports physio to take you through the rehab process and stick to a plan.
Right, with that said the compounds that could help with recovery will be usual things: testosterone, something that helps collagen synthesis like nandrolone and of course growth hormone. Obviously this does not mean they will be suited for you as everyone handles compounds differently.
Some others will recommend BPC-157 and TB500 and they have benefits if you are able to buy a quality product. A lot of shite out there.

Back in the suit today for the first time in over a year. Forgot how much I hate using it – makes rep work way harder than raw IMO.
Definitely felt the benefits of it in terms of bar speed even with the straps on very loose.
Deadlift 330×9 330×8
CG Pulldown 133×10 86×19
Gym Pin cable row 65×10 65×8
SA DB Row 90×7 60×12
WG Seated Cable Row 93×7 72×18
BB upright row 60×10 40×17 -
Pressing session went well with no SIJ issues on the log press. Moved back to pushing my head straight through and my tricep felt solid at lockout – hopefully this continues when I add some proper weight on the log. Chest press strength is progressing very nicely. Doing all the reps paused to simulate the set up we will have at the Shaw Classic which goes from a dead stop each time.
Strict Log Press 108×1 103x2x2
Log push press 126×1 120x2x2
Hammer Strength chest press 140×5 80×16 40×10-10-10
Cable Fly 30×10 20×18
Incline DB Press – triple set
Incline DB Curls 30×6 14×20
BB curl 60×8 40×15
SA cable curl 10×9 6.25×13 -
Book in to see a physio to get a diagnosis
Train around it as best you can
Use pain as your guide – if it hurts don’t do it.
Try and select exercises that don’t cause pain.

Rest day for me which was good as my hips and legs in general feel beat up.
SI joint is still settling which is good. I’ll be able to deadlift on Saturday if it’s rate of settling continues
Press session tomorrow starting with some log press. Back to my old technique of pushing my head through straight away as we think this might be what is irritating my SI joint in the week before the stones finish it off.

Good session today. Was able to do pretty much everything and felt strong – just dropped out the smith front squats. The leg press was very comfortable as I feel the strength returning with the bump up in food.

Paused Narrow stance 475×10 375×20
