Positives – strength, hunger (if off-season) better sleep

Negatives – extreme tiredness, blood pressure high, high fasted blood sugar. Extreme bloating

The negatives far outweigh the positives for me.

I use to use whey isolate but changed to beef. Feel so much better. Anything with dairy makes me very tired and lethargic.

I can’t believe what a difference it’s made changing to beef iso.

It just doesn’t seem possible to train with real intensity week after week for months and months. Eventually the body will give.

Deloads are interesting thought but I feel this is for people who really can’t get there head round not going to the gym and resting completely.

It’s more of a mental thing. “I’ll deload instead of taking a bit of time off” when the rest will do more good.

    Just my thinking

    I

Give it a spin for nine weeks and take some kind of measurements as you go, even photos. It’s awesome bud.

Just curious as to why your not running DC if it was so awesome?

I hear many people praising it but aren’t running the programme.

    Why not?

Matt Jansen talked about having a month or even two off a year. Just like the guys did in the 80s and 90s. Lots would do the Olympia or NOCs and then take a long break. Dorian used to take December off.
    Probably not a bad idea.

Yeah it’s interesting Rotties. A lot of the pros do it. Shaun Rowden, Flex and Sas took a while off recently from what I recall. A good rest definitely refreshes your body and mind and brings the hunger back to be in the gym.

The pricing definitely looks very reasonable even with the posting fee.
Definitely gives bang for your buck with pricing.
All these supplements arent cheap so I need to save as much as I can.

Your body’s completely beat up. Look at my thread in the training section. I was feeling the same. Took a week off and feel new again.

What you must also understand is that your getting up early, working. Daily stresses of life added on top.

I feel the set up needs to be different. With regards to your training programme/volume. This may also help

I can’t remember were I’ve read Kuba from credible people. I can’t recall who, but its been mentioned that that taking liver support while on orals is pointless. It’s better done once the oral cycle is finished.
Don’t quote me on this, just what I’ve seen mentioned.
Correct me if it’s BS. But I’d be interested to be informed on this also.

It works well but varies person to person for sure. It would stress some out more having a full week off completely

Yeah I agree it’s not for everyone and it is difficult for some people. It was for me too.

Bro’s think they be losing all the gains.

The responses above are actually very similar to my situation. I’m natural and by no means big, but at 31 (almost 32 y/o) I want to get as far as I can before I get to 40 and then be happy maybe maintaining the hard-earned mass.

Since ~September last year I started training ala JP 3 x full body / week with good results, and kept training this way until more or less december. During this time I was switching jobs and on holidays so I had plenty of time for training.

In january I moved countries and it has been a very stressful time. I’ve managed to train full body 3 x week but wasn’t recovering enough (specially my push exercises stalled). So I switched to a P/P/L routine 2 days on-1 day off (or 1 day on-1 day off, depending on how I was feeling). I like it very much and start progressing again in weights.

Now my life is a little bit more established and already moved to my new place (since January I’ve switched places two times) and already can establish a routine and have a proper kitchen to make more consistent meals.

However, since January, I’m back to work and can only train at nights (~8-9 pm). I could go earlier but it is impossible to train (very very crowded as it is a chain gym; not a lot of good gyms in this city but you have to work with what you have). I like to eat most of my calories/carbs post-workout, but this means eating my bulk of calories very shortly before going to sleep. This disturbs my sleep and hence my recovery. It is not optimal to train at this time but it is what it is. I spend ~2 hours in the gym (+ ~25 min going/returning, changing) mostly because I train intense and heavy, and need proper rest between sets.

Which brings me to the point related to the thread: I’m switching to DC training to shorten my training sessions and hopefully sleep better and not get back home so late. I will gauge how well I recover with RP sets and adjust according to that. The volume change is not so big (mostly for back), but this shouldn’t be a problem if a) it lets you progress and overload over time and b) you train it frequently enough. Its not a matter of X number of sets, its a matter of overload. And with DC you train everything every 5 days, which is a good frequency. At some point you might have to sacrifice volume and frequency for progress; how much depends on you individually. But the key for growing is to overload over time, not to do X number of sets in a workout. Do as much as you can and let you progress depending on your recovery (which depends on your recovery capabilites and environment).

I’m pretty much in the same kind of scenario as yourself. Train after work at peak times in the evenings. Although it’s not a chain gym it’s very busy. DC is a good option as the sessions will be shorter, but intense. And frequency is high.

Get in and get the job done and go to war on the logbook.

Are you doing the 3 way dc split? Training 3 times per week?

Find this pretty funny how anyone can ask that….. the man has serious knowledge I couldn’t care less what he looks like…. if you search you can find his own before and after and he managed to add absurd amount of muscle mass.

There’s no doubt he has an absurd amount of knowledge. I’m
Just curious as to why there’s no photos or very few with his physique on show around the Internet.

It’s the advanced DC split so effectively training every body part twice a week with low volume. DT has posted it up a few times. I’ve asked him the question and he’s suggested it. I’ll give it a crack and see how we go.
