I agree with Nath – keep the same stance on the hack squat and build some consistent progress with it.

    152.1kg morning weight.

Super short press session today. I’m pretty sure my warm up took longer than the actual
    Lifting haha.

    Log Press 123×4

Focusing on timing and rhythm of the reps. Felt super easy as it should and I’m happy with the plan for Saturday on the log.

Over to the farm for a couple of events. Did a sandbag steeplechase run with 3x100kg bags. Felt nice and sharp on the pick ups. Followed this up with a couple of pick ups with the 140 bag.

Then onto stones. I wasn’t too happy with how I was lifting the first 120 stone to the high platform last week so got some work done on that then did a 120-180 run to the comp heights. Nice and solid and happy with my strategy for stones next week

Rest day. Caught up with the Quins guys today for some lunch.

Got my bike intervals done this evening.

Over to the farm tomorrow for a couple of events. Nothing major, just a couple of things to sharpen up.

Super light and explosive pull session. Worked up in sets of 5 up to a top set with 220. Ladder style with the straps focusing on speed.

Got my bike intervals done in the evening.

I’m going to assume you have reduced ankle mobility due to breaking your ankles previously.

I definitely recommend a pair of weightlifting shoes with a decent heel on them to give you some artificial dorsiflexion.

From there you’re going to have to play around with your foot position to see what feels comfortable

Events down at the farm today. Had physio and massage directly beforehand which was not ideal but we got it done.

    Sandbag steeplechase 140×3
    Farmers walk 75x20m 115x20m 135x20m 155x20m
Stones 120-200 as singles then 100-180 as a run

Couple of things to work on so I think I’ll be back in the coming days for some technical work. Strength on farmers felt really good which I’m happy about

How I structure my training depends on where I am in the competitive season tbh.

Looking at your numbers there I would recommend you running wendlers 531 for a prolonged period of time. Super simple and it works. I still use the loading scheme as part of my training now periodically.

That’s the main lifts taken care of then you can structure your assistance work any way you like.

The key is to stick with it and give it time to allow strength progression.

Log press session in the Barn today. Nice long warm up as it was proper cold in there. Worked
Up to a very nice single with 163kg and that was it. No need to be doing more than that at this point especially as my knee and elbow were feeling a little beat up. Get in, get it done, get out.

Like any deadlift it’s important to really get your lats locked in and find the bite point of the bar.

What I mean here is that you need to ensure you whole body is tight and locked in before you apply full force to the bar.

I put a deadlift tutorial video up on YouTube. While it is focused on the conventional deadlift a lot of the same cues apply so check it out as I explain things a lot better on there

    Rest day.

Speaking the the BWL Stronger together conference today. Discussed my time as an athlete in rugby, coaching rugby and then as a strongman.

Really good to be at a conference again, it’s been a while since I’ve done any such CPD events.

Back home and ready to get some sleep before tomorrow’s push session.
