Just seen the NHS surgeon and he’s booked me in for surgery tomorrow! Super fast turnaround.

Thank you for all of the advice on here, as getting a second opinion has made all the difference.

I will keep this thread updated on how surgery goes.

I have been running 200mg testosterone per week for the last 12 weeks so after surgery I will probably begin to run a recovery protocol adding a low dose of NPP, and anavar for the joint / tendon recovery benefits. Also bpc 157, tb500 and a low dose of GH.

Any suggestions to help with recovery are welcome – and thank you all once again!

Great news mate. Hope the surgery goes well for you.

    Rest day.

Had a load of stuff to sort this morning then got my walking done in the afternoon.

Not much else to report. Body is feeling a bit better. Another rest day tomorrow so I’ll be back to bring mostly pain free by Friday.

Good work mate. A second opinion is always a good way to go.

I’m interested to see what the NHS surgeon has to say. If he’s still reluctant might need to say the right things to push them to get it done on the nash. Some things that help is saying that you make money via your physique or that your mental health has affected by this blah blah blah.

Hopefully you get a positive outcome from your appointment with him and yes definitely get some private cover moving forward. I’ve had 2 surgeries and multiple MRIs done private with AXA ppp and they have been excellent. Bupa are also decent from what I hear.

Morning conditioning on the rower in the barn today. 60”on 60”off x10 then some press ups, pull ups and abs same as last week.

    Farm session in the afternoon:
    Yoke run 20m – 320×3
    Stone carry – 3x20m
    Arm over arm – 3x15m
    Stones – up to 210×1

Bicep was a little tight on the stones so I kept it to a single on the 210. Body is beat up so I’m looking forward to a couple of rest days.

Looking at the new training program he sent over, it just looks like it’s a cookie cutter plan. 4 sets for each exercise. 7 exercises per session. It just makes me upset because I paid this guy for a year and he’s not taking my feedback into consideration with his decision making. Would you trust the guy if he increased training volume by 50% overnight?

It doesn’t matter what I would think. It’s all about what you think. If you don’t trust a programme you’re probably not going to commit to it fully and it won’t work for you.

It sounds like there is little trust in this athlete:coach relationship.

    Probably best to part ways.

The fact that you are here asking what to do tells me you’re already looking to pull the plug on this.

Morning conditioning at the farm today:
100kg sandbag for 20m then sprint back 20m x10 EMOM

Then back home for an afternoon pressing session:

Circus BB clean and press – 145×3
    Viking press – 140×3 150×3 160×10

Everything feeling as easy as it should. Tricep feeling better with a more robust shoulder Rom portion to my warm up. Body is still feeling a little beat up from over the weekend. Hopefully with another sleep I’ll be feeling ready for some events tomorrow.

    Rest day.

Walked the dogs just over two miles then the rest of the day was spent tending to my meat.

Got the smoker out and smoked a lamb shoulder. First time cooking a shoulder in the Kamado and it was awesome. 7 hours of smokiness equals glorious deliciousness.

About to jump in the hot tub for 30mins then off to bed.

There’s no “do this and you’ll recover from it” answer here as everybody is different.

My approach would be to add an intensifier to a single exercise to start with and see how you feel after a couple of weeks. From there you can add another to an exercise. Building this way will allow your body to handle it. If you get to a point where your numbers in the gym start to dip, your mood and sleep are poor then drop them out again and return to what you were doing before.

Woke up with some sore legs this morning which was expected. Got in the gym for my morning circuit work (same movements as Tuesday)

Then it was over to the farm for my events session:

    Frame carry – 240x30m x3
    Sandbags – 2x100kg bags for 10m and back x3
    Conans wheel – 2 plates for 2 revs x3
Stones – up to 180 one motions

Solid session with everything feeling pretty straightforward. Bicep got a little tight towards the end of the session so I kept to singles on the stones rather that the planned stone runs. All in all a great training week completed. Rest day tomorrow and I’ve got a large lamb shoulder to get in the smoker

Back to some deadlifts today at Physique Warehouse.

    Deadlift – 345×5
    Block Pulls (17” bar height) – 470×1
    Hack squats – 3×20

Deadlifts were done with a reset and step away each rep to simulate a deadlift ladder. This makes things way harder but these still felt great today. Then we moved onto block pulls. Didn’t have a number in mind for this so worked up to a comfortable 470. I’ll wave this up to 500 over the next two weeks. Finished with higher volume hack squats to condition my quads and hip flexors. I would have squatted but with the event training demands in the week it would not be smart to go with barbell squats.

More events at the farm tomorrow

Another rest day for me today.

45min walk this morning in the pissing rain then I got some kit sorted out in the gym. The Viking press I made now has handles ready for Monday’s session.

Also today it was announced that I’ll be competing in the world deadlift champs in Las Vegas later in the year. Adds a little bit more spice to my deadlift session tomorrow.

That’s interesting Nathan. Do you see any visual change in the shape of the muscle when it’s relaxed and contracted?

I am assuming you had an MRI on this originally and that’s what the consultant is working off?

Body feeling proper fucked this morning. Event training just hits different to standard barbell work.

Welcomed rest day, got 45min walking done this morning then another 45min with the dogs in the afternoon.

    AM session:

    Push ups
    Pull ups
    Deadbugs
    Curl
    Pressdown

All for 21/15/9/7 circuit style. Very pumpy and got my heart rate up.

    PM session
    Yoke – 280x20m x3
    Arm over arm (sled) – 260x15m x3
Stones – up to a single with the 210

Great training day today. Also had a physio appointment and some sports massage in the evening. About to jump in the hot tub for a bit then it’s bed time for me. Rest day tomorrow but with more movement that usual.
