Two sessions today. Got down to the farm this morning and did the following:
Double sandbags over 10m x4
Nicol stone walks 5x10mPlayed around with the stones and managed to sit them out on my lats a little to keep them clear of my legs which made it much easier to move with them.
Then in the afternoon I had a pressing session. I’ve built a much more stable Viking press that fits in my power rack in the barn which had its first run out today.
Viking press – worked up to 170×3 then 150×5
Circus BB clean and press – up to 137.5×5Great first day. Just finished my last meal and I’m off to bed, barn based volume/conditioning in the morning.

Yep start with the strong leg so you have a clear number to catch up.
Frequency will be dictated by the size of the strength deficit. If the imbalance is huge more frequent sessions on the lagging leg may be required but if the imbalance is relatively small, it can be done with your usual leg training split.

Yep I agree with the above. If you can get booked in to see a private consultant.
The NHS is great for emerging treatments and life saving surgeries but you have to remember that they are interested in getting people back to “normal” life. So I’m their eyes they’ll be going “can this person walk around without the need for surgery”.

Rest day.
Trips to Costco and lidl to get all my food sorted for the week. Managed to get another 5kg of Australian black Angus sirloin which I’m very excited about. Then straight home and out for a walk with the dogs.
Happy that I’ve got all my meals sorted for the next couple of days, i always want food in the fridge ready to go.
Kicking off 12 weeks of WSM prep tomorrow

Couple of pressing movements today in the Barn. Nothing special:
Hammer strength chest press
Incline DB Fly
Incline DB PressLots of sets, lots of reps, lots of blood flow to the muscle.
That’s the fluffy shit done, rest day tomorrow then we really go to work on Monday. Can’t wait.

Light pull session in the Barn:
CG Pulldowns
Seated cable row
WG cable rowSuper lazy and went with the lay Pulldown/row stack for all of my work so that I didn’t have to move any kit around.
Really looking forward to lifting heavy stuff properly starting on Monday. The countdown to WSM is nearly ready to start.

Rest day.
Headed over to the farm to move some stuff about ready for the new event training requirements starting next week. I need to buy a forklift haha.
Apart from that it was a pretty standard day with a dog walk in the sunshine and getting my food eaten.
Back in the gym tomorrow for some light pull stuff

Short shoulders session today:
Lateral raises
DB Reverse flys
High incline DB CSR
Seated DB PressHeading over to the farm tomorrow morning to get some stuff moved about ready for the WSM prep. Got to clear some space for the moving events so I have a full run for the yoke and frame.

Poor nights sleep last night unfortunately, not sure why. I’ll see what tonight is like before I change anything.
Had physio this morning which was a shorter session due to me getting stuck in traffic – a journey that usually takes me 12min took 50min which wasn’t good for my rage.
Got an arms session done in the gym today. Nothing special just 3 movements for bis and tris with plenty of reps – more of a feel good pump session. Body is still a little bit wrecked but it’s getting better.
Massage session this afternoon and now I’m heading out to the hot tub which has finally had the leak in it repaired (first world problems).

I agree with Clare. For long term progression I would personally opt for the push, pull, off, legs, arms, off rotation as it gives much better time for recovery.
To go further if adding the off day I would switch the push and pull to go: pull, push, off, legs, arms, off as this will separate your two heaviest days the best IMO.

Yeah another vote for sustain, it’s a brilliant product.
I have done the whole eating a small snack in the car on the way to the gym before but I always trained better when just going EAAs and sustain.

Drove back from the midlands today. Got home, took the dogs out and generally sorted my life out around the house and admin wise for the rest of the day.
Plan for this week to to just train – no strongman movement, just some volume on “bodybuilding” movements to increase blood flow before we kick off the WSM prep next week.
I’m finding as I get a bit older that a down week post competition is needed in order to get me back to normal training. With the prep for WSM I’ll be moving to 4 training days a week but double training days to best replicate what we have to do out at WSM. More on that before we start next week.

Britains strongest man write up.
Felt great going into this comp. Strength at an all time high and it showed in a couple of events. Unfortunately I had a really bad event and then a kit malfunction on the stones that cost me big time.
Event 1 – Deadlift
400×5 then 360×1. Got the win on this and all pulled without a deadlift suit.Event 2 – 160kg axle press for reps
Got two really easy reps then the axle bounced sideways a bit and I should have reset it. Tried to lift it where it was but having one foot on the mat and one foot on the platform really effected my balance.Event 3 – medley
Just too slow on this. Not sure why. Didn’t push hard enough on the anchor and anvil. Arm over arm was easy. Lost loads of points here.Event 4 – bag toss 18-28kg
Really good event for me. All bags went over in 15.96sec which was a WR but unfortunately it was beaten by two other guys to push me down to 3rd. Happy with this one.Event 5 – stones 120-200
First two went up easy then the 160/180/200 all rolled off their rings and were sitting against each other which totally threw me off as I hand to reposition them and then get rid of the rings. No idea why this happened but I was not happy. Once again this cost me big points.Overall I finished 6th which I’m gutted about. Just one of those days unfortunately, things went wrong and I didn’t do well enough to correct them. That’s sport. Onto to next one.

Well unfortunately that didn’t go to plan tonight. Solid on the deadlift and throwing but very poor on the other events.
Gutted. I’ll do a proper write up tomorrow for you guys.

Made the trip up to Sheffield today. Got here and had interviews, then athletes rules meeting then a press conference this evening.
Plenty of media stuff all done so now it’s time to get some sleep ready for a slow build up tomorrow morning
