Deload legs session today as my body was telling me to back off the heavy leg press for a week.
Got a set of leg extensions and leg curls in and worked up to 400×10 on the paused leg press. All super easy stuff but left the gym feeling much better rather than my usual limp haha.
Rest day tomorrow.

Time to reduce my training volume a bit as we move into my final 3 training weeks before the Shaw Classic. Back off rep set is now gone on all assistance movements to allow for greater loads to be lifted earlier in the session. The heavier and stronger I get the worse my fitness gets.
Managed the heaviest log press since before my tricep today and I’m confident I’ll be back in the 170s next week. All on track nicely.
Strict log press 143×1 133x2x2
Log press 163×1 153x2x2
DB Lateral Raise 35×8
SA Lean Away lateral raise 30×8
Pressdowns 65×5
Gym Pin pressdown 31×6
Tricep triple set
Bicep triple set -
Press session today and the focus was very much on the chest press movement. I added more volume to that movement as we have it at the Shaw Classic so I really need to drill the chest press with a pause.
Hammer Strength chest press 140×8 80×18 60x4x10
Cable Fly 42.5×10 32.5×20
Incline DB Curls 30×6 17.5×13
BB curl 60×10 40×16
DB Hammer Curl – drop set
Meals are still going down fine which is great considering the mount I’m putting down my neck. Onto speed pulls tomorrow morning.
What standing chest press do you have? I’m trying to convince my gym to get one.
I don’t have a standing chest press.I have a seated hammer strength chest press

Events session today down at the farm. Throws, deadlifts, sandbag loads and atlas stones.
Throws went well with a clean run over the high barrier I have set way above comp height. Hummer tyre deadlifts were a challenge but I managed another 500kg pull from comp height on this set up.
The loading at the Shaw Classic includes sandbags up to 160kg so I got some work in picking them up as I haven’t handled them in a long time.
Finally finished with stones up to 180×3 then a 180×1 one motion. I feel stone lifting is a great gauge of where my overall strength is at and fortunately these felt very easy today.

Rest day.
Had some filming to do for Giants Live but other than that a nice chilled Sunday.
Back on it tomorrow with a heavy events session. Not many events sessions left till the Shaw Classic so we have to make every one count

Back was feeling way better today for pulls and the bar was moving quick! Did 4 sets raw on speed pulls then 4 sets in the suit with loose straps. Both feeling much quicker and more comfortable. Kept the SA rows out for this week but I’ll bring them back in next week.
Deadlift 305x8x2
CG Pulldown 148×7 106×13
Gym Pin cable row 80×10 60×18
WG Seated Cable Row 106×10 86×20
BB upright row 80×10 60×16 -
Rest day spent next to the lake again.
Body is feeling pretty good tbh after yesterdays legs session. Hopefully I can get my head down in the Bivvy for a couple of hours and wake up feeling even better.
Any bites?
Yep managed a couple this morning. Happy days.
Good to have a break from all things strongman and feeling refreshed and ready to have a great pull session tomorrow. Speed deadlifts on the menu
Nice one. Are you a member somewhere?
Do you do your own nutrition plan or get help?
I’m doing a truck pull event tomorrow, any tips leading up to it? My group (25 tonne) starts around midday.
Was thinking carb heavy breakfast + eggs, then sip on carb drink & eat watermelon until it’s my turn.
Yeah this was just a club lake though so plenty of lakes to choose from.Nah I do my own nutrition centres around the diet planner available on the site.
Just eat your normal training day diet with your normal pre workout meal. Then have whatever you usually drink intra workout for during the event. Don’t change your diet on the day, you’ll most likely shit your pants or feel lethargic.

How do you feel about the strongest man on earth title being added to the shaw show? Will this progress things or cause division?
Nothing groundbreaking IMO. Brian has done well to purchase the trademark. The Shaw Classic was an awesome show before it so it’s just a little extra spice to it now.
Nah I don’t think it will cause a division at all. Strongman has been there in the past and it didn’t end well.
The more great shows that are entertaining for the public the better.

Heavy legs session at physique warehouse today. Body feeling pretty beaten up so I focused on the essentials ie the leg press mainly. As I get closer to comp time my volume will drop down as I have to give my body a chance to recover between more intense sessions.
SL Extension 111×10 110×20 (DL)
Deadstop Leg Press 750×10 600×13
Leg Extensions – some orrible drop set
Prone leg curl 110×8 80×19Very much looking forward to a day off tomorrow, ready for a physical and mental break

Log press 153×1 143x2x2

Personal preference. I prefer Pakistani basmati rice at the moment and find it much easier to digest.
Try different rice and pick the one that works for you.

Hi Andy. Yep I did mine in 2017.
If they do decide to operate they will want to get you in asap in order to grab the tendon before it retracts too far. This will make for an easier surgery and a smaller scar.
Under general anaesthetic the surgeon will locate the tendon, pull it down and make a button hole in it. He will then put a small piece of titanium on your radius and pull the tendon between the radius and the ulna and hook it onto the titanium. My surgeon is the best in the uk at this and the surgery took 45mins.
You’ll most likely wake up in a sling and they’ll get you home asap. I went in for surgery in the morning and went home at 1pm. Right now for the rehab.
Total time is 12 weeks.
2 weeks in a sling with a bent elbow.
2-4 weeks regaining range of motion. This part is super important and should not be rushed. Ensure you get full supination of your forearm before you start loading.
Loading the bicep can commence at the 6 week mark. Light weight and high reps to begin with. I trained it 3 times per week. It will probably take you 4-6 weeks to get it back to full strength.
You can train around the injury. Legs can start straight away as can training your non injured side upper body wise. I used this as a yard stick in order to get numbers to work to when commencing injured side training. I also started training non direct upper body from week 5, ensuring I wasn’t using my bicep in those movements.
It’s a very common sense approach and I wish you the best of luck with it. Don’t rush the process and be diligent during the early stages and you’ll make a full recovery no problem.
My injured side is now stronger than before and stronger than my other arm.
