Rest day for me today.
Bit of a struggle getting my food in today but I forced it down. Each meal took me like 30min to eat which was a pain in the dick.
Body is feeling pretty good other than my appetite being off. Another rest day tomorrow before heavy pulls on Friday.

Final proper pressing session of this prep.
Log strict press 157×1
Log push press 177×1
Seated chest Press 160×5Pretty straightforward session today all with minimal volume and maximum effort haha.
Also had a physio session in the morning, a massage session in the afternoon and a trip to Costco for food – all in all a busy day for me.

Very good events session today. Everything felt very easy and I managed to flip the heavier fingals finger for a couple of easy flips today which was not possible last time I trained the finger.
I’ve left fingals finger training to the very last moment as I spent a lot of time on it earlier in the year and I wanted to make sure my tricep was as strong as possible this time round. Very happy with todays efforts.
Stones also felt effortless getting back on the 210kg stone and completing a fast 100-180 run.
Bag toss – 20/20/25/27 (2 sets)
Fingals finger – 2 flips
Stones – 210×1 then 100-180 comp run -
Hi Andy – just an addition from me.
Really make sure you get full supination ROM back, I’ve found this really helps when you start loading the bicep.
Train your other side as normal so that you have a benchmark to work to and assess how far you are off full strength.

No training today but a lot of work done clearing out the farm training base and getting a container in the lock up to keep the stones dust free.
I really didn’t realise how much strongman kit I have haha. I soon realised when I had to move it all out the way though.
Also managed to set up some bits I’ve had in storage so the split sled leg press and the monolift got put back together and are ready for use.
Back down the farm tomorrow for a couple of low volume events.

Speed pulls with the king of deadlifting Andy Bolton went well today.
Andy brought me a new Inzer max DL suit which fits perfectly and really suits my pulling style.
Speed pulls – 305x5x2
That was it today as I’m well into my taper for the Shaw Classic and I pull some big deadlifts next week.
A lot of driving this weekend so my hips and knees are beat up for sitting in the car for long periods but it should loosen off before we go again on Monday.

Solid session on the comp kit today.
Played around with the circus DB making sure I was getting the balance point correct on my left shoulder. Several singles with the 80kg DB.
Then onto a full run of the loading medley with the anvil, tyre and sandbag loaded into the wheelbarrow and pushed 15m. Finished up with another heavier push of the wheelbarrow in prep for the Shaw Classic.
Deadlifts with Andy Bolton tomorrow

Apologies for the delayed update – I’ve been next to a lake with zero phone signal.
Had a good session on Wednesday working up to 800×6 on the leg press with a deadstop. Brutal leg press variation.
Thursday was then a rest day that I obviously spent fishing and now I’m on my way up to train on the giants live kit today.

Top press session today with some post tricep injury PBs. It was feeling good to be back pressing decent numbers on the log again. Still a bit to go before I’m hitting all time PBs but I’m feeling more confident that the tricep is consistently progressing now.
Log Strict Press 153×1 143x2x2
Log Push Press 173×1 163x2x2
Hammer strength chest press 160×4
Gym pin Pressdowns 31×10
Tricep triple set x12/12/12 -
Last proper heavy events session of this prep.
Worked up to 20/20/25/27kg throwing bags over the 5m wall
Pulled 500 for a couple of singles on the hummer tyre deadlift
Full medley run with sandbags, frame carry and arm over arm
Finished with 180×5 on the atlas stones.
Solid training day – log press tomorrow where we need to push things on both the strict and push press variations.

Still feeling a bit fucked up today after yesterday’s pull session. No major muscle soreness just tired. Going to get an early night and I’ll be sorted ready for a heavy events session tomorrow.
Not much else to report today as it was a rest day. Cooked up 5kg of chicken breast to keep me going over the next couple of days.

Solid enough pull session today. Bar didn’t move as fast as I had hoped but my sleep hasn’t been good enough these past few days. Time to catch up on sleep tonight and tomorrow ready for heavy events on Monday.
Also decided to switch back to my original single ply suit as the multi ply one just isn’t working for me. Feels more like a hindrance than a plus. I know the single ply suit better and can get into my usual starting position in it so it’s a no brainer.
Deadlift – 405×3
CG Pulldowns – 150×6
Gym pin cable row – 82.5×7
WG Seated row – 113×8
Upright row – 80×10 -
Really short pressing session today, focusing on the chest press.
Hammer strength chest press – 160×5 120×10 80×18
Cable fly – 2 sets
Seated Db curl – 2 sets
BB curl – 2 setsTricep is feeling strong again which is great. Short session so that I’m fresh for a very important deadlift session tomorrow

Rest day so not much to report. Got all my usual cardio and rehab bits in.
Some more massage booked in for tomorrow morning then a press session in the afternoon

From experience with using weight gainers in the past as a convenient way of getting calories I can honestly say they cause more issues than benefits.
Real food is king for putting on muscle so I would save you money and buy proper foods.
As Clare said you can build your own if you need a quick drinkable source of calories and whey, COR, fruits and nut butters are great options. Plus you can chop and change them more. They will digest much better than an all in one weight gainer as well IME.
