Back in the UK after a long day travelling. No sleep on the plane so got home and had a couple of hours sleep in the afternoon. Body felt absolutely trashed from the flight and the stress of the previous week.
Physio appointment tomorrow to make a plan of action for the pec.

Have they put you in a cast or an air boot?
Definitely train the other side to maintain muscle mass and to have a slight cross over effect.
If you are in an air cast boot, you can perform leg extensions and leg curls until you’re able to load the foot itself.

You have to keep working through various rep ranges to rebuild the strength. Don’t neglect the high rep work and this doesn’t have to be to failure IMO. This way you can build up the work capacity of the muscle again as it sounds like it is fatiguing very quickly.

I read it as doing push presses over standing military press…
Some clarification is needed

Still out in Colorado – I head home tomorrow.
Pec is swollen and sore but presents no bruising as of yet. Doesn’t seem to have any tendon involvement which is good but I’m seeing my physio when I’m back in the UK so I’ll know more then.
Once I’m back home I’ll make the call on a couple of upcoming shows.

Well that didn’t go to plan unfortunately. Picked up a pec minor tear in the muscle on the first event and it got worse over the course of the comp – couldn’t squeeze the stones properly on the final event. Gutted.
With a couple of pec heavy events tomorrow I’m going to just do the deadlift to restore some pride before I bow out of this one. Very disappointing but such is life

Pretty chilled day over here in Colorado.
Had interviews and also got an IV done to help rehydrate after my days travelling.
A bit more to do today with the athletes meeting and press conference this evening

Ensure you are wrapping your strap correctly and maybe add a little chalk to them if they are still slipping.
If you are putting your straps on correctly there should be no reason for the bar slipping out your grip

Made it out to Colorado and I’m settled into the athlete hotel.
Really long journey so very excited to get some sleep!
The Shaw Classic team really do know how to look after the athletes with trifecta food, condiments and plenty of water waiting for me in the room as well as the itinerary for the next few days.
Interviews lined up for tomorrow and I’ll get an IV done to rehydrate after the flight.

Final preparations done before I fly out tomorrow.
Physio session in the morning with some general work on my back, knee and tricep.
Massage in the afternoon on the usual TfL/ITB and quads.
Body is feeling gtg and ready to lift stuff

Monday’s training:
Bag toss – two sets of 20/20/25/27 over the 5.5m barrier
Throws felt great yesterday. The bags were sailing over even with the higher barrier height. That was all the training I did, just minimal work to get myself moving and the motor units firing without any risk of building fatigue.

Yeah I agree with the above. If you could only go for one I’d say join in is the more potent IME.

Chilled Sunday for me. Got out for a walk with the dogs as usual and kept myself rested ready for this week.
I’ve got some very light training tomorrow and Tuesday before I fly out to Colorado on Wednesday

Bit of a frustrating pull session today. I’m just not getting on with the Inzer suit how I thought I would.
Pulled a smooth 430kg deadlift today but it felt like I was pulling raw as the suit gave me little to no pop off the floor.
Got the session done but it was frustrating. Anyway I’m back full circle now and back in my original single ply metal suit that I used to pull 454 in 2021. Probably wasted several weeks fucking around with suits but never mind.

Food went down a lot easier today thankfully so probably just feeling a bit sorry for myself yesterday.
No training again today as I get really for some big pulls tomorrow. Tapering for a show is no fun as I love lifting and it’s tough to drop volume and train less in order to lift more. Part of the job so we get on with it.
Nice walk tonight with the mrs and the dogs Tyson decided to chase a greyhound today and they both looked like they were having the time of their lives. For those that don’t know Tyson is a 2.3kg chihuahua haha.
Time to get some sleep before we rip heavy shit off the floor tomorrow
