    Hi mate

I think with PPL R UL R you can do well on one or in two rotations

For me it depends how frequently you like to have a movement to stay in touch with the execution.

My personal preference on that particular split would be one rotation , but this is wholly about preference.

Like Pierre, I do biceps on lower day when I’m doing upper/lower, but programme by priority mate

The app wasn’t letting me post yesterday, but had a really good push session in the evening.

First session I’ve not felt my pec since the little pull. I’ll continue to be sensible and patient, but won’t be long until I’m fully rolling on it.

Quads and adductors this evening, so hoping it stays a bit cooler!

And that’s rest day near enough done with.

One meal left in about an hour and then I’m sleeping.

Food prep is done for push day tomorrow, hoping my pec will allow a little more than last time out

    Hi mate

If I’ve read this correctly, you have distinct movements for

    Heavy upper / Light lower
    Light upper / Heavy lower

If that’s the case, and you’re on an EOD frequency, I think you’ll be fine mate.

Just remain very patient with your progress, don’t try to rush the loading and you should be able to stretch this out a good while.

Once you’ve reached a point you need a shift, you can invert the movements.

Very good back and ham session today. Body felt really good, was a great atmosphere in the gym , and lifts moved nicely.

Barbell rows ended up being a bit more cardio than anything else 😐

Two meals to go this evening, then hopefully a better sleep than I managed last night

    Hi mate,

Absolutely second Bish’s view on the joint stack. I honestly can’t say enough good stuff about it!

Also see if there are movement variations that are less uncomfortable. Very often there is a movement path that creates discomfort where a like for like may not.

Please though, don’t be a hero and just push through, it likely won’t end well

    Hi mate

Firstly, I’m with Pierre, at this stage, focus on everything with a high frequency, and U/L does that for you.

Secondly though, if you’re training hard, really hard, particularly with muscles being hit so frequently, 5 days on the bounce just isn’t a good idea.

Very good and very warm quad and adductor session today!

Making such consistent progress with my knees now which in turn is letting me keep moving the weights with a bit more confidence

A way off “strong” yet but getting to a place I can be working on that.

Productive work as well, so a good day.

Just about to make my last meal and then it’s time for sleep

Yep, fully agree with the gang, no getting away from the fact your erectors are going to work through an RDL mate.

    Hi mate

At this point, in all honesty, I’d be going Push Pull Legs and prioritising arms in the push and pull sessions.

Yesterday was a rest day, and I was very grateful for the aircon unit last night !

Had a really good sleep and nicely readied for today’s quad and adductor session

    First…. Some meals!

    Hi mate

In the main, as Jord has said, sessions are still containing 15-20 sets, I think the big difference is that people are looking to break them up differently now.

Where the guys you mention (as well as many still today) will have often done those sets on a single body part, there’s more people now looking to increase the frequency of each muscle group getting stimulated by grouping multiple body parts into a single session (PPL, UL) with each muscle group having less volume but higher frequency of training.

I do think there’s something in the work ethic and the want and ability to train really hard, but that’s not necessarily the top tier that you are drawing the comparison with from decades gone by.

    Push session tonight,

Good tricep and delt work, nicely progressed which I’m happy about.

Pec still not right, but progressed significantly since last time out. Managed four sets of 20 on an incline press.

I’ll continue to be patient, but it’s coming.

Resting tomorrow, and with it, rest day food is prepped.

About to get this evening’s last meal, then it’s sleep time in the heat

Have you tried the split as suggested? What’s the driver for removing things?

As you look at things to remove, are you considering physique priorities?
