Anton

In an upper session, youre probably not smashing a muscle up, but I also wouldn’t be judging your recovery based on muscle soreness

Are you focussing on progressing strength session to session? Is that consistently happening?

Some of what you programme on pull day will influence the answer to that mate.

I would ideally separate it out regardless, but approach you take to pull programming will help determine the answer

Feeling a bit run down today but managing to stay on top of it.

Had a decent upper session. My shoulder is a bit niggly but staying in moderate rep ranges to get the work done

All food prep sorted for tomorrow, one meal left tonight and then a sleep

Rest day tomorrow, then lower on Tuesday

    Keep on sloggin’

  • Hi Luca,

I’m with Clare here. Why would you change when you’re in a purple patch?

Periods of progression should be made the most of, I really wouldn’t be looking to switch splits until you stall/regress.

Leg session today and I think the shin issue I had is now workable. Leg curled for the first time since thinking I’d broken it.

Everything moved well today, very happy with the session, and now two more feeds before a good sleep tonight, and then upper tomorrow

    Hi Matteo,

I wouldn’t be in a rush to push the volume up, I don’t see the need?

It’s not a long time to have been on the split, and remember, everything being hit so frequently means the last thing you want to be doing is decimating the muscle.

Keep working on progressing the lifts, you should have a good spell of progress yet if you’re doing this patiently.

When/if you get to a point where you need to make a change, then you can, but for now, make the most of the period of progression.

Thanks a lot for the answer!

Will try to stop myself from rushing volume up, I always feel like I can do more and as you said it can be counterproductive at times.
Keep us posted mate – get after it!

    Hi Niklas

You seem to have done a good job trying something, and finding out what you do and don’t like about it,

You’re now in a good spot to decide if you want to persist with an anterior / posterior split, more back to a more traditional upper / lower, or do something differently.

The important thing is, your decisions are now informed by experience.

Standardise your movement execution, learn to work to positive failure.

I genuinely think it’s as simple as that.

Rest day today with legs tomorrow and upper on Sunday.

Good day of eating, two meals to go and a good sleep on the cards

It’s been a tough week but I’m looking forward to the weekend

    Push session this evening

Everything good and strong apart from pressing, my shoulders weren’t playing ball – very frustrating

Resting tomorrow and then legs on Saturday

Food has been upped this week but no notable change to appetite

    Slowly slowly.

    Daniel.

I’m genuinely not intending to be rude, but what does it matter what the starting weight of the bar is?

You have weight plates at your disposal to manipulate the load to whatever rep range you’re intending to work in.

Let’s try to think the “problem” through and see if we can find a solution to make it no longer a problem.

Get some weight on the bar and get after it mate.

Good leg session this evening, knees felt good and allowed me to work hard – sticking in the higher rep ranges on the pressing work, which seems to suit them better – perhaps unsurprisingly!

Meal prep done, just about to cook last meal, then it’s sleep

    Push session tomorrow

    Hi mate

    Sorry, I don’t understand why you’re missing a meal?

Because sometimes I have to train early in the morning, compared to usual when I train after 2nd meal.
So you don’t have one less meal in the day, you train after one less meal?

    No issue, get after it!

    Good pull session this evening

Everything moving up nicely on the rear delt and back work.

I’m going to up reps again on bicep work, tendons are boggling when rep ranges drop

This was quickly sorted when I ran this last time so probably need to think about a rotating rep pattern if this is to be sustainable

Legs tomorrow, meals and supps sorted

Last meal to sink now, then sleep
