so today as its the end of the first post show phase….time to embark into stage 2 🙂
I weighed in today just for curiosity and a reference point
lowest weight pre stage (very depleted of course) was around 142lbs
last time I weighed was 11th August – 3 weeks post show – 155.8lbstoday 22nd September – 9 weeks post show…..WHO WOULD LIKE TO GUESS THE WEIGHT?

interesting topic…I will express 🙂
my thoughts on volume
it cant be progressed infinitely as we know, but it can be used as another tool to maximally recruit muscle fibres and cause adaptation
the RIR method that we followed explored this and allowed me to do A LOT more volume then I ever have previously.from this max volume set out in the RIR method, we have now reduced to the volume you see above.
more than this was not productive long term for me considering the strength I have and the intensity with which I train – over time it would have impaired recovery to such an extent that strength wouldn’t have been as high as it could be.
Would I progress in each session? yes very likely because im stubborn! BUT across a 6 weeks block for instance I may add 5 kg when really less volume would have seen an increase of 10kg.
recovery at the moment is hanging in there BUT is in fact a lot lower at this point considering I am 9 weeks post show.
in this next phase I will actually look to REDUCE volume a little more as we are confident this will allow for MORE strength gain. So my MRV is actually going to increase due to external factors BUT I will also reduce volume. leaving my body in a place to really really push, grow and recover.
Also as the loads get higher, doing more will not be possible due to the increased stress on CNS.I think higher volume is only a useful tool to those who are not lifting such loads, or those that do not train to with as much intensity

150kg x 5 = TOUCHING THIS TO SEE WHATS WHAT…IT FELT HEAVY, IT WAS A GOOD SET, BUT I KNOW I NEED TO PUT THE WORK IN BETWEEN 140-150 TO SOLIDIFY THE HEAVIER WEIGHTS
129kg x 12seated ham – x 7, x 10, x 15 – again very happy here
leg press
180kg each side x 13
200.5kkg each side x 7 – super happy with this as my reps are now deep
165kg x 20glute drive – 3 sets, 2 load 1 back off
adductor – 3 sets, x 16, then did the stack x 9 which is cool for me – then back off
hanging leg raise – 2 sets BW

everything seems very sensible and moderate – so thats greatdo you NEED a break? or do you have enough tools to keep pushing on to the goal weight which is only 5lbs away?
