I am with Clare here in that , everything in its own time.
First things first , the goal is to build a strong foundation first , and be able to work on it frequently. With that being said you’ll have to do just what what the plan suggests so you can recover and keep progressing.

PULL
Devolume session today again on pull session. Run 50% volume here, no top sets just back offs but still looking to progress them .
That way it’s not kicking me up neurally .
Not much to report. A standard day in work & naps taken before training.

Haha, I know some will think I’m being an asshole , but I’m actually just trying to help, by cutting through the bollocks .
– obsess over progressing your lifts across all rep ranges , with standardised form ( this is the be all , and end all, this is all that matters if you want to get big
– take your weight up 30-40 pounds from a legit stage lean baseline , slowly over 6 months
– over that period , use as little gear as you can , but also be realistic , you aren’t getting fucking massive on baby doses , but you just have to be patient , after a decade of use , you probably are going to have to take a gd hit , to get all time muscle
– food choices , there are no must eat foods , eat what sits well FOR YOU, make sure you move a bit through the day to help digestion
– volume , there are no must hit training volumes , what you will need is diff to me and that is diff to the next person, let your log book guide you – stuff you can’t progress , cut it out
– exercise selection, there are no must do exercises . Corinne built insane legs off squats , I personally don’t like the squat. James built a superb chest off flat barbell press, I personally don’t like the flat barbell press. Work out what is right FOR YOU ( if it feels gd, it’s right , it’s literally that simple. You do a set , you have no pain, pump in the target muscle , safely went to failure , and thought – fuck ye that was gd, keep that exercise in )
– these are the core principles , they are so so simple.

PUSH
I had planned a Deload this week, as towards the end of last week, I’d felt beat up .
But after training Saturday morning, having the rest of the day off , & Sunday off , I thought I felt a bit fresh this morning.
So the plan was to take today’s session at full volume & Devolume from tomorrow. But as I warned up, the weights felt heavy . Got to my working set & it literally did not budge.
That was the final nail oh the coffin to devolume which I did immediately after .
So I went straight into my back off set, did one set . I did the same for high incline press, one set & the same on the seated dip machine . On isolations I took two sets a piece . REST DAY
I have had a good day today . A lot of rest but productive too.
I am on schedule to be in bed on time too .. so that’s always a good thing.
Push tomorrow, so that’s always exciting as things are currently flying .
A lot of stuff will be pushing for reps tomorrow to get into the 7-9 rep range on top sets before I progress them load wise.

So you can set up push 2 to mirror this one .

HAMSTRINGS & GLUTES
Major success this afternoon with hams . Going from strength to strength in this workout easily .
Even though I feel wiped out after what’s been a very long week in training .
Trained earlier than normal today as I had to go visit a client/friend who lost their brother in a car accident earlier this week.
As much as it’s been a cracking week, this visit and spending time with the family has brought things back into perspective..
And I now understand why in Islam you are advised to attend as many funerals as possible. That way you will be reminded of your own mortality , therefore humbled.
I also feel it sort of gets me to ask myself how am I living your life ? Is it with urgency to do the things i want to do , or am I holding myself back in fear of what others might say.?
Am I treating other people kindly ? If the depth of our saturation was measured by how we treat others , how deep is yours ?
All these are questions I’m asking myself & off course just thinking out aloud .
Anyway enough of the morbid stuff..

Flux , there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Everyone will deal with grief individually.
But as you can already see on this thread , the common theme is to carry on , on behalf of the person who’s transitioned.
I have had a few deaths in my family , and I channel my emotions into my training most of the time . As I believe in vulnerability their is power, so much power if we have enough courage to take it.
And also my perspective on grief has changed over the years that I’ve tried to make sense of it and at this moment, I read a piece that said , grief is just love . It’s all the love we want to give but cannot . And as a result all that unspent love gathers somewhere in the corner of our eyes , lump in our throat & the hollow parts that are left in our heart . QUADS
Was Absolutely stoked for this session today ..if been absolutely flying until I did the first set of a leg press & I had a nose bleed.
This is due to my sinuses playing up recently. The fact that I have to blow my nose a lot frequently then irritates the nasal cavity and I get frequent nose bleeds as a result. Happens a lot during summer in hay fever season. Got some nasal spray so should be fine.
Otherwise I went on to finish the last 2 sets & progressed them both , even getting a all time PB on the last Set.
By the time I got to the smith machine heel elevated squat I could only manage set one and then my vision was a bit blurred so opted out on those .
I finished with some Bulgarian front feet elevated squats 2 sets , leg extensions and lying cable extensions .
All in all very happy with work done considering the circumstances.

REST DAY
Normal work day today for me . A nap in the afternoon as I felt shattered…woke up much better.
Early bed tonight . This is something that I am very focused on at this moment. Getting sleep routine solid. I have also started leaving my phone in the living room and it’s much much better this way.

Another cracker of a session this afternoon. All movements progressed. This is simply the main objective of the session….progress load , amount of work done, effort and execution.
Progression on the gym floor is the impetus of an improved physique.
I am however starting to feel the effects of this previous run I have had. So over the next few days I’ll track biofeedback closely and react in line with the feedback.
During this stage, with food high, motivation high it’s easy to override these engine lights . And that can only result in you digging yourself deeper and deeper.
Whenever there is doubt we always look to nature for answers & the ecological system says Anything that takes more than it gives will destroy the soil . You see farmers letting the ground rest because you have to put something back into something that you are taking
Are you demanding more of your training than you give because any area that you expect more than you give you’ll live in a perpetual state of disappointment .
So with that said , even an earlier bedtime tonight to rest .
