Mechanical tension is king in terms of hypertrophy so that being said you would not be taking reps fast. But what you’d be doing as Kevin states as above is taking your time to warm up thoroughly then taking a set or two to failure. One of the sets would consist of max load.

Hey guys , a well earned day off after a horrendous leg session yesterday . Strength is good, hitting new numbers while keeping execution on check.

A back off set is very rarely trackable . You can only try your best to beat it. At the start of a plan you can track and beat it. But as you go on, sometimes you take a PB on your top set and that then has an effect on your back off set in that it’s taken sooo much from

5 weeks in, 102kg; sleep is much much better, my digestion is better, my appetite is up,I am approaching all time strength in training and myself & my coach are very happy with how things have come up so far.

I feel Clare has hit the Nail on the head..cover recovery demands and all should be well..it is not till you conceive that you’ll have to adapt training .

Another day,another PB….push day on the cards today …and As the weeks go by, the stars are slowly aligning. We are approaching all time strentgh which over time will mean, new muscle.

IMO I think you are complicating things..as in your description you sound like you are at a decent level.
But for discussion sake both training heavy and training light are relative. & have both got places in terms of building muscle.
For me when you say light I’m thinking if your top set on bench is 120kg for say 5 reps, I’m looking to back off with 100kg for 15 reps.

DENSITY & LEG DAY
Hardest session of the week, but I Bloody love it. The anxiety, the countless toilet trips between warm ups, the butterflies.
First rotation on snatch grip RDL, and it’s humbled me massively. We’ll get better.
Session was:
•snatch grip RDL
•mag grip lat pull down
•EZ bar fat grip B.O ROW
•pendulum (widow maker)
•kneeling ham curl
•adductor

Tricky session today with the shoulder press as I’ve got a tight neck..so didn’t hit numbers . However rest of the session was all good and productive.

With a belt I think it’s just about being pragmatic..IMO i use it as a cue to breath into as opposed to using it as a crutch .
