Sports massage today then got down the farm for my events session. Nothing major, just progressed on the events from last week.

Still don’t know the events for the comp yet so playing some guesswork but I think I’ve got most bases covered.

    Yoke 320x20m
    Farmers 125x20m
    Sandbag medley (2 sets)

    Rest day.

Body a little beat up today especially my knees. Think I’ll need to add knee sleeves for the paused leg presses next week.

Upper session tomorrow at physique warehouse.

Sorry for the late post, been on family birthday visiting duties so been in the car all evening travelling back home.

Got my Saturday deadlift session done before I headed off and it was a good one. First heavy session in the suit and I wasn’t completely sure how it was going to go after such a long time out of the suit pulling raw. Thankfully it felt great and the numbers were there:

    Box Jumps 3×5
    Reverse hypers 3×10
    Deadlift 390×6
Paused Leg Press (DL stance) 410x4x6
    Seated Leg Curl 150×9 113×15
    Back Extension 55×11 BWx20
    Calf raise triple 3×12/12/12

Stay at a load you can keep your back from changing shape , and keep being very patient , you are rushing . It takes reps and reps and patience to build the erector strength to not break form

Should I not arch my back? Is there a technique I’m missing [/quote]
It depends to what extent you are arching your back. Ideally you want a braced neutral spine not one forced into hyperextension.

I did a full deadlift tutorial a few years back and put it on YouTube. There might be something there that helps you with your set up. Search for “Adam Bishop How to Deadlift” and you should find it.

Morning events session down at the farm. Got some good work done before it got too hot:

    Yoke 20m – up to 280kg
    Farmers 20m – up to 115kg
    Sandbag runs 20/20/20m – 1×3

Spent the rest of the day getting my meals in which was a struggle in the hot weather.

Onto the new split today – return to a synchronous split as I need the extra days to recover from the deadlift sessions. Been a long time since I’ve followed a standard week as I’ve really been seeing the benefits of an asynchronous split. Things look like this moving forward:

    Mon – upper
    Tue – Moving events
    Wed – bike sprints
    Thu – press events
    Fri – bike sprints
    Sat – Deadlift/lower
    Sun – bike sprints

Today was upper at physique warehouse, no direct bicep loading now as I have sandbag loading in my moving events day.

    Incline Bench Press 160×10 130×12
    CG Pulldown 143×10 108×14
    Prime shoulder press 2 sets
    Seated row 140×9 105×13
    Skullcrushers 50 reps
    Rev fly 50 reps
    Pec dec 50 reps

    Rest day.

Monthly big Costco shop down with a few new additions to the diet – main one being steak for high day breakfast which I am very much looking forward to.

For my steps down in the morning and evening to avoid the heat then spent the middle of the day in front of the fan to stay cool.

Deadlift session today in a very hot barn. Was going to train earlier this morning but watched the Lions game instead. First session back in a deadlift suit in 3 years. Decided to use it for my speed pulls today to get a little used to it before my first proper heavy session next weekend. Pulls felt great so I’m happy.

    Reverse hypers 5×10
    Box Jumps 5×3
    Deadlift 285x5x2
Leg Press 400x4x6 (narrow, paused) 400×14
    Seated Leg Curl 147.5×9 112×15
    Back Extension 50×11 BWx20
    Calf Raise triple 3×12/12/12

Physio session followed by my first proper press session including some strongman movements. I forgot how tough these sessions are when you have to move the strongman kit about. Doesn’t look much on paper but it took 2 hours to complete with the set up and warm up. Lockouts felt great and I feel like I’ve got a lot more pressing power overhead following the previous block.

Log Press 123x8x1 (short rest periods)
    Viking press 150×15 120x3x8 (strict)
    Pressdowns 59×8 45×15
    Dips 50 reps
    DB Lateral Raise 50 reps
