Re: Back Q… on your Upper B, why don’t you add in a Chest Supported Low Row (neutral grip) which will hit your upper/mid back and incorporate your shrugs on the end of the last set?

Re: Side Delts Q: An Overhead Press accompanied by a Cable Lateral is plenty, plus you’ll hit side delts with the press. If you run this for a bit and find it’s not enough and you recover well, just add sets as opposed to adding exercises.

If your budget allows, Join-In is awesome, better as a preventative measure rather than a cure, but it does help me as I’m a bit older and have beaten myself up in my previous work.

It might be just a case of resting then and see if this subsides. A physio/osteo may well be in order if it doesn’t improve.

Could it be down to execution of a bilateral lift?

Are you seeing big progressions in lifts that may mean your connective tissues aren’t ’caught up’ yet? Maybe a bit of tendinitis?

Do you do anything in the gym that may put the elbows in a compromised position under load? Maybe the same at work?

Do you take any of the Joint Stack supps? I used to get the odd ache in the elbows and knees, but the Joint Stack has helped massively with it.

    Maddy nails it mate.

Because you’re lifting in a lower rep range, it suggests the lift is heavy, if it was loaded to where you can do a higher rep range, you may have suffered a 1/2 rep loss.

If it persists, look at your programming. Do you need to change the exercise order, rep scheme or movements that work well in the same session etc.

I wouldn’t panic for now. It’s the first time it’s happened so just report back if it repeats.

Agree with the gang. Making your own is the best option as you control the ingredients instead of having all sorts of fillers and additives that will likely mess with digestion. Plus you can make them in bulk and just grab one when needed.

Hi mate, love the sound of proving some doubters wrong. I’m here for that!

So a few exercises in the gym that Golfers tend to add into their programmes are:

Single Leg DB RDLs with a rotation
    Split Stance Clean & Press
    Single Hang Snatches
    Oblique Tilts
    Split Stance Rotational Chops
    Power Outs using a cable

A lot of traditional bodybuilding movements have a lot carry over, especially Lat work and core strength movements.

These feelings come from a place of impatience. You might be aware, you might not, but that’s what this is. The rush to get instant results.

I say this with confidence because if you weren’t impatient, you wouldn’t feel the need to switch things up all the time. You’d stick to one plan, and run it into the floor.

So the best way to stick at something is to enjoy it, so I agree with the gang here. Whatever way of training gives you happiness, do that on loop, for a long period of time.

A few days ago you posted an Upper/Lower review saying the progress was amazing. Are you just overthinking?

Thanks for taking time to provide such a comprehensive response to my question.

It’s evident, through your language, that you have a relentless desire to compete and dare I say dominate on all fronts.

I’ve supported many Execs through the years and there is this whole narrative about achieving balance in life – the reality is, the most successful people are consumed by one thing and one thing only.

Yes this does come at the expense of other things, but, if you love what you do, then you’re never really ‘working’.

It’s also a smart move having only 2 points of contact – this builds efficiency and effectiveness – more layers, distills messages and creates delays.

And just think, if things had worked out at Wasps – none of this would have happened.

His passion is why we all buy in to this. We all want to see MFG in every gym, tbJP supps and clothing on every continent and PF leading the way in the peppy market because it shows us we are all capable too and if we can help get the word out, even if it only helps a tiny amount, we’re all in!

Exactly that! You will always be able to say “I did everything I possibly could” and then it’s all data after that.

Your mindset is that you are ‘Deeply motivated, driven and passionate about the routine’ and you want to see how much you enjoy the process. So go for it, give it everything you have, step on stage and then make a decision as to whether you want to continue competitively or just bodybuild as a hobby/way of life. Don’t overthink this.

    Absolutely.

Ive not been thinking about whatll be the end product both mentally and emotionally in a repetitive way. Just day by day actions! Yeah ill do my absolute best not to overthink the bigger picture.

    [/quote]
Don’t mistake my comment for “you must win at all costs”

I simply responded to what you asked. Should you try and enjoy it? Absolutely! You’re already a realist. Do you HAVE to enjoy it? No. If you go through this and find it isn’t your thing, no biggie. You’d never know if you didn’t try it.

Like you say, it didn’t shake you off, and that’s the place I’m coming from above.

    Agree with Jordan.

Same volume, same recovery demand for the same distance between sessions.

If you did 2 on A and 4 on B, you’re asking the body to recover from double the work in the same time frame ready for your next A session.

I’m not talking about bodybuilding here, Moreso everything you’ll do in life from business to sport to life goals and achievements etc…

I’d say it’s normal to be realistic, but less normal to adopt a winning mindset because if it were, winners wouldn’t stand out.

A bodybuilding example you can use is this: does a pro become pro because they behaved and executed everything like an amateur and brought an amateur level physique to stage? No. They behaved, trained, moved like a pro and built a pro level physique before turning pro. Getting their card was a byproduct of their actions.

Execute everything to the best you possibly can, whilst focusing on your goal. If you place 5th, accept it, learn, adapt as you’ll be proud and happy still because you gave it everything. Again, this isn’t just bodybuilding, apply it to anything you do and do it with intent. No holds barred.

Lifts you can progress, recover from and enjoy will render results if you are consistent with them. Stick with a programme for a long long time and run it into the ground. If you need to swap a lift for a like-for-like variant, so be it, but consistency is your friend.

Re: PPL UL… I’m currently doing this split atm and have been for a month after nearly 18 months on the same U/L (only swapped a row out towards the end because the machine I used broke before Xmas) and it gives me a few things that I benefit from…

    – 3 upper body session for every 2 leg days. My legs developed well on U/L but my upper didn’t advance as well.

    – I love a good Push, Pull, Legs cycle where I can up the volume slightly and have some fun with my gym time. Plus I can dedicate a session to the areas that didn’t grow as well on U/L because Upper sessions were condensed.

    – Frequency is middle ground. More leeway for extra volume, BUT it’s not too infrequent either.

    – I can still do my old Upper/Lower sessions that I did before as I really enjoyed those too!

So to answer if there’s a difference or not. Obviously there is because you can fit more chest/back/delt work into your split on Push and Pull, but you’d need to make it make sense for you.

Fatigue and Recovery aren’t the same. We train tired or not, you can feel amazing on the day and the muscle may not perform as it isn’t recovered. You can train tired and progress. Let us know how you go on.
