I am with rich on the close grip smith machine as not only does it align perfectly, but it’s less demanding stability wise.

Been noticing that as of lately. Each session leaves me on empty and my joints are getting a pounding. Love putting everything on the table each workout though, feels like I truly give it 100% each time I’m in the gym and that’s always been my mindset

Have you thought , Maybe you just need a deload ? ?
No sir, i notice this training style is more taxing on my joints but that’s coming from high volume training with lower intensity.
What I’m trying to say is that with the constant volume I was doing I could never truly put out 100% because I was doing too much work in the gym.
Throwing in more rest days and backing off on the total volume has let me push the weights much higher now since I feel fully recovered each session, and as a result I’m noticing my joints a bit more especially pushing heavier weights during heavy hack squats.
Ok ok I get you … so you generally feeling your joints as you are lifting much more heavier load. Do you take a joint supplement? With this sort of training it’d go a very very long way

How about have a heavy carb meal the night before & stay longer in bed . You’d be hydrated the day before . Upon Wake up get a pre workout down you and an intra to go train …that means there’s no blood around your gut supporting digestion.
I’ve done this in the lockdown initially and it was successful, I held onto strength, pumps were immense & that .

Oscar when u did this ,what was your postworkout meal like ? Was it something fast digesting or just a well balanced meal or a mix of both ?
My post workout meal was haddock fillets , rice followed by few pineapple chunks . Just a normal meal
I guess seeing as a Intra shake is used there no need for fast carbs post
Personally I use coconut water because of gut issues I have with the flavouring used in carb powders.
So when I trained that early it was just 150g baby rice, whey & a tonne of fruit before bed as a pre workout meal .
Upon wake , a pint of water , few scoops of prepare & off I went.
Thanks Oscar for replying,very helpful
As I train early year round ?
You are welcome my friend:)
Oscar if u had training days available Monday to Saturday doing push pull legs how would u set the week up ?
Hmmm…. I’d favour
Push
Pull
Off
Legs
Arms, delts , calves
Off

Solid rest day today. Got everything done and meals in early and feeling nice and chilled.
Since wearing the Apple Watch it comes back to me hitting around 3200-3400 average steps a day which is pretty sedentary. This is a good thing as when I start prep it’s likely I’ll just have to up steps to 5000-8000 a day around there’s to get a good response and still on high food.
.
I was 263lbs this morning Jordan foresees me being absolutely legit, skinless at around 215lbs but bigger than last year. So 20 weeks out this weekend and 48lbs to loose. This may seem a lot to most but I will easily be able to get to 230 without much change. I miss one day of GH and I loose 3lbs. 263 for a 6 foot man isn’t big but the amount of food I have to eat and lack of expenditure I need just to hold this is silly. Im buzzing to start prep now even tho I feel like I’m just in the groove to grow, I also feel like this year will be my time and I can show people what I am capable of on the condition front.
.
Shoulders and tris tomorrow and we get after it with EVERYTHING!!!

Gwarn ……. jimbo….. cannot wait

CHEST, BICEPS AND A BIT OF SIDE DELT
After a full days rest yesterday we were back at HQ to Labour again. And we had Another cracking session in the bag. Now the presses are getting challenging & at this point I look at it like a lion that’s been stalking prey for days and it’s only a few meters away…… nothing can be taken for granted , if anything focus is more heightened because missing isn’t an option. As if the paws ? weren’t stealthy enough , we now twist the feet and walk on our metatarsals once again because missing isn’t an option…not when it’s all under your control.

BACK AND BICEPS
Awesome session this afternoon because of a few reasons. Firstly it was gym Independence Day and it was nice to see everyone which lightened the mood, we were also able to blast music whilst training & Jordan switched a few movements here and there that had gone stale and as a result injected a bit of freshness into my session.
We also filmed the session for the site so you’ll probably have it early next week.

Thank you guys, one more question. What you think of the Prime shoulder press plate loaded. With this machine you push in a straight line like a barbell press, while other plate loaded machines push up and towards each other.

It depends on what you are after …. the prime will always win as it will offer more options i terms of challenging different ranges . But we also got the Atlantis shoulder press which has got an option of either neutral grip or pronated grip & a different line of force unlike the prime. I don’t know if you have tried it but it’s good . However if it was to pick one, I’d be picking prime because of its versatility

I would personally go for the prime incline as you can load it to bias different Strentgh curves ..
