For most of my clients if who are gen pop , I generally just cruise them into the shoot without changing much variables as most of the time they aren’t like lean lean … so it’s then a balanced look of fullness and leanness combined .
However each journey will always require a different approach based on what sort of approach you’ve used on the client coming in the final weeks .

REST DAY
Hey guys not much to report today . 20 minutes cardio done upon wake , first instalment of steps then chilled in between spurts of work .
Last batch of steps done, and it’s an early one for me as I am not only up early , but got quads tomorrow.
So gotta be fresh 🙂

I agree with rich , if you see a decent therapist, then they’ll be able to advise what movement patterns to steer clear of as part of your rehab .
What movements to reinforce , and what movements to gradually expose to load .Also , you don’t have to lower back load . You don’t have to do anything. What you have to do is movements that are safe to perform and one’s you can safely progress over a long period of time till you are back to full health .

UPPER
Fantastic session this afternoon…soo time strength on the Atlantis incline press . 7pps and a 5kg .
Felt very strong despite training earlier than normal. Pump was immense also .
As long as the session is , my strength held across even to the pull bit.
A full stack on the unilateral cable pull-down moved very smooth .

I’m inclined to go with Clare’s opinion of addressing quality first before adding quantity in that we should look at exercise selection and execution first before we add an arm day .

PULL AND HAMS
Straight forward session this afternoon. I felt good going into the session, ample sleep , 3 litres in plus 6 capsules of peak hydration down the hatch before training . All these things make a massive difference. I think hydration nailed both from electrolyte balance aspect then just hydration with water is not taken as seriously. Nail both and performance and recovery will rocket .Posted a few clips of the pull aspect on IG if interested.

DELTS & ARMS
Really pleased with todays session after last week’s session where I bombed my top set on the incline smith . Approaching this set today, i had two options , either take the same load as I took last week & make up for what I lost (probably the most sensible approach) , or add a biscuit (1.25kg a side) and go kamikaze.
My gut instinct and the meat head in me chose the latter 😈 . We not only matched the reps but put 2.5kg in total. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. The quest of 4 plates a side continues. 😜.

I agree with Kamara , go back to pendulum if you’ve maxed the hack . The pendulum for me is king of quads just because of strength curve , the way it moves and the stability profile.
That being said , I think the issue with smith squat is defo either your set up or execution. But don’t loose sleep over that if you have an option for pendulum .

REST DAY
So I did 20 minutes cardio fasted do start the day . As that’s in now on rest days.
Then just a normal working day . My legs feel soooo sore it’s unreal. I know they’ll be worse tomorrow before they start feeling better .. those drop sets are absolutely brutal .
Early bed for me . Big day tomorrow to redeem myself on the smith press after last weeks awful performance. Lol

Squat
Stiff leg/rdl
Wondering how’s my form here too
Benjamin your squat is awesome… and that’s not a stiff leg but an RDL. So if your goal is ham/glute and a bit of lower back then cool . But if you are after erectors as a primary muscle then , I’d pull with a similar fashion ( knee angle 📐 stays same) but from the floor . 🙂

QUADS
Absolutely superb session this afternoon..horrible horrible burn and the pump was ridiculous…
As I type this , literally put shower on , I’ll be jumping in , having my pre bed meal & going straight to bed.
But very happy as another 1.25kg went on the top set of the pendulum and I matched the reps from last week with leaves me at 106.25kg for 7 reps .

These are decent cooper .. just standardise them and not take too much of a break between reps .. other than that they are good .
When should I breathe? Only reason I stop is to catch my breath and then brace and hit the next rep. I tighten my core before I lift and I feel as I can’t take a breath, any tips? [/quote]
I tend to breathe at the bottom to help with my brace & exhale as I get to the top .
The issue is not with you pausing to breathe , it’s how long you are taking between reps to breathe .
This load is going to get heavier at some point, & it’s only going to be more challenging, chances are your pauses will get longer as a result . As a result the set will turn go from a straight set to a rest pause .
