    WhaT is pre workout meal?

are you using a pre wo shake?

    Are you mixing flavourings?

What dextrin are you using ?

Are you diluting the shake in enough fluid? Not using enough water can defo cause issues when high molecular weight carbohydrates are taken in too fast without high dilution rates

I will add. It seems that the most influential factor on hyper trophy, is using the maximum amount of weight you can use, for the maximum amount of volume you can recover from.

SO let’s think how that would transpire into a training set up.

We can’t sustain a high enough total volume from really heavy loading, eg 3 reps per set. We would need to do 10 work sets to acquire enough volume to force an adaptation – that’s not realistic. However a load that we can do for 10 reps for 3 sets is heavy enough to recruit a large amount of muscle fibres and we can neurally recover from 3 sets. Some people will be able to efficiently do sets of 6-8 and be able to do 4 sets to acquire enough total volume to grow. However others it will see them burnout quite quickly. So it’s a safe bet that a weight you can handle for 8-12 reps, is typically the most efficient for hypertrophy.

It really does, sadly it’s lost on the stretch and squeeze gang that like to have arm days and train chest once a week on a Monday :p . The more frequently you hit big compound movements , and progress those loads, the denser you will become

I’m surprised you don’t have ample e energy from this set up, but it’s v possible your simply not used to utilising fat as an energy source when at rest, so it’s v possible you are going into sessions too glycogen depleted to make progress in the gym.

SO , I would alter the breakfast meal to having some carbs and fats . Let’s say 110g of oats , will pretty much match cals and keep protein as is. This should fix how you feel. Remember net energy balance is the key. It isn’t a must to leave carbs out of breakfast if you don’t function well without them. I leave them out as it doesn’t impact me poorly at all.

Let me know how you get on with that alteration

Hey josh, can you write me out what your leg session is so I can see what your energy output is like for that session

I feel a second feeding of protein before you sleep will certainly help you recover as maximising protein synthesis in that 6-8 hours post workout is important for maximising the remodelling process that will occur within the muscle. Choosing a slower digesting protein is also prudent , so Greek yog or casein is wise

I feel DC , or DC style is pretty awesome for building a lot of size. My plans I write are based on what I have learnt from adapting DC training over the years to suit my own needs. I feel the volume of training can be increased somewhat from the original DC style, to ensure there is larger cardiovascular aspects that can keep body fat at bay.

What I have written above is FT , I just add a little here and there based on my recovery. So I have added a shrug, and altered my tri sets to include glute work and then do calf work separate. This is just me looking to expend greater energy

I’m bigger and leaner then ever this offseason not using it, so it certainly isn’t a must.
Insulin doesn’t really have much of a place in a caloric deficit anyways, as it won’t be long until your carb intake at the workout perimeter doesn’t support insulin use, so it goes.

It’s cool you can ask anything Matey, drugs are a big part of bodybuilding and I’m happy to share.

Absolutely zero insulin. I have gone slightly anti insulin for a bit. I’m sure I will use it again, possibly post show. But I am really on the fence atm as to where I feel it’s place is in bodybuilding after using it to the extent I did last year.

Just to add to corinnes post.

Like she mentioned we are using the shake essentially as an extra meal. Pre workout meal is 90mins-2 hours pre workout. This then means there is potential to fully maximise protein synthesis across the workout , as we can do this every 2-3 hours. Therefore it makes sense to use the same amount of protein at least , which you have in a normal meal. I say at least as there is even greater potential around the workout to further increase protein synthesis due to anabolic signalling from liftin weights, so you can use an extra 20-30g of protein here if you wish and your body can utilise it. Using 40g from a complete protein is the most efficient way. Then using more performance based aminos ontop like creatine and beta alanine

I do favour aromasin for health, arimidex is stronger , will drop water more efficiently, my lipid profile improved, so I’m going to use arimidex for ten weeks into the comp to get the job done.
